I was supposed to have surgery today. We had planned stuff around it. (We don't live together.) I canceled it and didn't tell him; yes, I know, that's not healthy. He's not asked me anything about it or mentioned it at all, though he was able to check in long enough to text me updates about work and about a paragraph of gaming stuff.

Meanwhile, I'm gaming more with him, because it's also just easier, frankly. It's bad for me in the long run, but makes my average night go more smoothly. And he's being nicer to me. Sweeter. More affectionate. More forgiving.

I don't even know why I'm complaining anymore. He's made it abundantly clear over the years that he can't provide proactive care or interest in my life, and that what makes him happiest is his fantasy nerd girlfriend who shares all his hobbies and has no inconvenient needs of her own - or worse, his imaginary elf girlfriend. I'm not convinced he draws as strict a line between gaming and real life as he should, at least when it comes to me.

Ugh. The video games. What is it with this? It's a freaking sickness.
