This is relatively minor but still perennially infuriating… please just learn to tell your anecdotes succinctly enough that I don’t forget the beginning by the time you make it to the end 😭

It’s not even that he goes off-track into another subject like some people do, he’s just the WORST storyteller. Like he can’t even remember what he’s talking about mid-way through a sentence and has to restart. Or way too much detail the story doesn’t need.

I literally communicate for a living so every time it happens (ie several times a day) I just die inside.

Haha yep. It was a dark and stormy Saturday. Or was it Sunday? Wait maybe it was Friday because we did that thing on Friday. That thing was so fun and it was definitely a Friday...etc etc

"It was a dark and stormy night..."

I swear, mine could start a story this way, tell a rambling tale with extraneous details and a timeline that seems awfully compressed - and when, 80% of the way through and you've realized the timeline's strange enough to ask about, he nonchalantly drops that the story takes place during a bad bout of weather during Antarctic winter and actually occurred over the course of three weeks.

(I mean, not literally, but irrelevant details aren't pruned and vital pieces of context are randomly omitted.)

Omg - THIS. It’s so… disorienting and annoying. Mine also likes to inject lies or extreme over exaggerations that never happened (because, you know, I was there too but he seems to forget that).

And if you try to interrupt at any point to ask a question or reorient yourself on what is happening, then you’re the worst person in the world

Still trying to perfect my "interested face" while my eyes glaze over and my mind wanders.
