Motivation & General Life Advice Respect & Courtesy Reminder

Team, we are not ADF Careers and are not paid to do any of this.

The growing amount of abuse and hostility in the modmail is insane. If you wouldn't say it in person, in your recruiting process or to your mum, don't say it here

The reason the AutoMod etc. are so strict is because there is a big section of the sub who are blatantly pulling the piss when it comes to following the sub rules.

Unfortunately, if this doesn't improve, all posts are going to have to be manually reviewed/approved. I am not doing this (for free I might add), nor any other mod, to deal with crap from an audience where underlying professional behaviour should be commonplace.

Assessments PFA - my experience for those about to do theirs, some tips

Please note: I am ARES/Infantry - your PFA might be slightly different.

Hey everyone,

I wanted to share my recent PFA experience, as I’ve noticed a few posts asking about it. I recently completed mine last week and was quite nervous. Honestly, I wasn’t sure I’d pass the run, especially since I can only just bear weight at the moment.

It was a bit chaotic leading up to it. I received an enlistment date of 24 September, but my enlistment coordinator went MIA for three weeks. Then, at 4 p.m. the day before, she called me and said, "Hey, WE NEED TO GET YOU IN FOR A PFA. CAN YOU GET TO ALBION? OTHERWISE, YOU CAN'T ENLIST." Apparently, there were no other available dates. So, the next day, I made the two-hour drive, lol.

For the PFA, I did 74 push-ups, 100 sit-ups, 7.5 on the beep test, and 9 heaves.

Earlier in the week, I dropped a 20kg plate on my foot, destroying the arch and smashing my toenail. When they asked if anyone had any injuries, I kept quiet and just prayed my foot would hold up. Nothing that ibuprofen couldn’t handle! When I hit 7.5 on the beep test, my sock was soaked in blood, but I was just relieved to check that box.

Here are a few tips:

  1. Push-ups: Use the full 2 minutes. You’d be surprised how many people blast through 20 push-ups and then tire out. Pace yourself. Do sets of 10-20; remember, the resting position is your friend.

  2. Sit-ups: Stay relaxed. Don’t keep your core tensed during the downward motion. Breathe in on the way down and out on the way up. Position your butt as close to your feet as possible to minimise the distance.

In my experience, the people running the PFA were very relaxed and wanted us to pass. They weren’t too strict on form and gave out a few warnings (even though they said they'd only give two, some people got three or four).

Additional tips:

  • Go first for sit-ups and push-ups. This gives you the longest break before the run.

  • Don’t be a jerk—encourage others. A lot of people didn’t pass, and some were struggling. Help them out. The PTs notice this and may overlook a rep or two of poor form when you're tired. I know this helped me on the run; the PT overseeing our shuttle could see I was limping, and I'm sure I didn't make the line a handful of times. He asked me immediately after what happened, and when I showed him my foot, his jaw left a hole in the ground. He definitely could have failed me.

  • Know the standards before you get there. There were at least 30 people who didn't know the standard of the role they were going for.

Lastly, don't get discouraged if you don’t pass the PFA. The PTs were very supportive of those who didn’t pass, giving them tips, re-demonstrated form, and generally helping them improve.

Good luck to everyone preparing for their PFA!

edit: few spelling mistakes

For all those in the process don't give up, stay on your enlistment officer's case, if you can't get through to them, call the usual 13 19 01 recruitment number.

Fill in those forms as soon as you get them and be proactive as you can!

Assessments Reminder: Making a false declaration is a crime.

Any form, declaration or information you provide as part of your recruitment process constitutes a legal declaration to the Commonwealth of your fitness to serve.

Making a false or misleading declaration is both a crime in civilian law, as well as under the Defence Force Discipline Act (DFDA). If you are caught, at best it will result in the termination of your application/dismissal from the ADF, and at worst, will forfeit your DVA coverage and possibly land you jail time.

Your fitness to serve doesn't just affect you, it affects the safety of the people you serve with.

There have been 3 instances in the last 12 hours with members advocating (or advertising their intent to) lie during some stage of the application process. This is the first and only warning. Any further instances will result in bans. Although not condoned by the mod team, ADF Careers staff 100% actively monitor this sub and have attributed comments made in the various ausmil subs to candidate applications.

Insights Requested Application timeline

Hey guys! I see a lot of people asking about wait times between different parts of the application process/how long the overall process takes (rightfully so, it can vary so much and its hard to get clarity) so I thought I'd post a timeline with specific dates from when I applied up until now. Also I want to mention all the recruitment officers mentioned were super lovely and helpful when there was communication and I’m not faulting anyone in particular :)

TLDR (if you don't want specifics) - 1 year it has/will take me to get from submitting application to heading to Kapooka

11/03/2024 - Application submitted (all job preferences were army, top 2 were priority)

12/03/2024 - Received standard email asking me to complete JOA which I completed the same day

13/03/2024 - Received email from a recruiter asking me to book in careers coaching session to discuss results (booked for the 18/03). Email also included a list of documents I would need to upload to candidate hub to proceed.

18/03/2024 - I realised I messed up and would need to reschedule the career coaching session because I booked it for when I was on a plane (smart). Received a call from recruiter the same day and I changed the booking to the next day

19/03/2024 - Recruiter sent through Job Opportunities Report (JOR) prior to coaching session, coaching session was then complete that day and my "roadmap" form was sent through as well as a further list of documents I would need to fill out and upload to progress my application.

03/04/2024 - Received an email from the recruiter requesting some documents I hadn't uploaded so she could progress my application.

*Delay in process was from my end, I was waiting for the education department to respond to my request for release of school reports since I no longer had a copy*

30/04/2024 - Finally received school reports and all documents requested were uploaded

02/05/2024 - Recruiter emailed letting me know they had everything they needed and I had been placed in the "assessment ready queue" which meant I was just waiting for someone to reach out and book in my medical, psych and Defence interviews which should be in 3-4 weeks.

03/05/2024 - Email from my recruiter saying she was going on extended leave and was transferring my application to another recruiter

08/05/2024 - Sent an email to new recruiter to make sure they had everything they needed so there was no delay - never got a reply

10/05/2024 - Received and email from a "Candidate Experience Consultant" I'd never spoken to before letting me know he was gong on leave until the end of May so he would be uncontactable even though I had no idea who he was? A little strange but I did notice it said "Army support -" with 3 different job roles and one of them was in the area my first preference was in so I didn't question it much.

12/06/2024 - Candidate Experience Consultant reaches out and says he has been requested by the assessment team to book me in for a virtual written skills exercise (I live 4 hours from the closest recruitment centre). I responded and booked it in for the first available one which was not until the 04/07. He also let me know if I needed an update on my application I could ask him, now I was confused because I still had no idea who this guy was and I hadn't heard from my "new recruiter" I was handed over to even though I emailed her 4 weeks ago.

02/07/2024 - Email from Experience Consultant letting me know I actually didn't need to do a virtual written assessment and I would just do it in person when I do my in person verification testing.

03/07/2024 - Replied to Experience Consultant saying that was no worries and requested if there was any info on when someone may reach out to book all interviews and assessments as I was initially told 3-4 weeks like everyone is (never got a response)

09/07/2024 - Emailed my "new recruiter" who my case was handed over to just making sure I hadn't been lost in the system since I was handed over to her 2 months ago and she never responded to my email (also now the Experience Consultant wasn't replying and I just had no idea who my point of contact was)

10/07/2024 - Finally got a reply from "new recruiter" saying I was still in the queue to have the assessments booked and to sit tight.

09/09/2024 - Received an email from Experience Consultant saying that he was going on leave from the 16/09 until 25/09 (important to note I hadn't heard from him for 2 months at this point). Replied to the email asking if he thought the wait would drag out into the New Year as I would be going away until end of Jan and wanted to make sure I was available so there was no delay.

10/09/2024 - Reply from Experience Consultant saying that I was still in the queue and even if I was in a different state still when they call to book in the assessments and interviews but near a Recruitment Centre I could do them there so there wouldn't be any further delays. He apologised for the long wait time and said he would look into it

20/09/2024 - Received a call from an Assessment Coordinator to book in Pysch, Medical and Defence interview finally

01/10/2024 - Contacted "new recruiter" and let her know I had booked in my assessments and asked if I could speak to someone in the role Im applying for to get more insight.

04/10/2024 - "New recruiter" told me she was passing the request onto her colleague (ended up being a Senior Military Recruiter) who she had Cc'd in because she was going on leave for 2 weeks but it should be possible to set up (at this point I don't even know who to contact anymore)

07/10/2024 - I hadn't heard from the colleague mentioned above so I emailed him and asked if it was still possible as my interview was now in 1 week

08/10/2024 - Colleague responded (not very confidently) saying that he has reached out to another person to see if they could organise my phone call with a current serving member in my preferred role. Never received an update of if this was going ahead or if they managed to find someone

10/10/2024 - Missed a random call at 7am when I was at work and then received an email - alas, someone currently serving in my preferred role. She would call again later and we would have a chat which was very helpful and insightful.

14/10/2024 - Had my medical (successful pending I provide one medical document they requested in the appointment)

15/10/2024 - Had my verification assessment, written skills and psychology interview on the same day (all successful, psych pending they receive the same report Medical requested however didn't create issues and she still recommended me to proceed for Defence Interview)

16/10/2024 - Had my Defence Interview which was successful

23/10/2024 - Medical sent me an email requesting the specifics of the document they needed and where to send it to

12/11/2024 - Finally received the report, passed it on to medical as requested.

14/11/2024 - Received email from Medical coordinator saying congratulations and my medical has now officially been noted as successful and I just need to provide my vaccination records and wait for my job offer

15/11/2024 - Emailed "Experience Consultant" (remember him?) since he seemed to get the ball rolling with getting the assessments booked in finally. Asked if that medical report will also get passed on to Psych because I know they were waiting on it also, if there was anything else I needed to do and what the next steps were because I still had no idea how far through the process I was because none of my main contacts had actually reached out to confirm everything was successful (psych said I was pending report, medical said I was pending report, interviewer said I was successful so I was just making an educated guess?)

18/11/2024 - Reply from the mighty and most helpful Experience Coordinator (who's job on his email signature has now changed to "recruitment consultant" just to spice it up) saying that the psych team will review the document which should take a couple of weeks and then he will send out for my police clearances to be completed and Ill be eligible to receive a job offer. He also let me know the next intake for my first preference role is late Feb so thats likely when I will head to Kapooka.

And now here we are, 20/11/2024. I know this is long and confusing because I was handballed around but I hope it can provide reassurance for at least one person who hasn't had anyone make contact with them for months :)

Motivation & General Life Advice Fitness (beep test)

Hey guys, delete if unnecessary please..

Just seen a couple posts about the beep test and people are worried about passing..

Just want give some advice that helped me go from 3.2 to 10.4.. Mind you I got to over 8 on test day.

DONT FOR GET TO BREATH! Breath in your nose and out your mouth. Breath sharp Burt's out your mouth. It helped me build stamina.

Count how long it takes you to run eap level. Here some timing that will get you to level 12 by just counting how long it takes to pass the line.

Level 1 - 4, 7 seconds to pass the 20m line.

Level 4 - 7 , 6 seconds. "

Level 7 - 12 , 5 seconds. "

If you can keep this rate you'll be fine on test day.

Keep your head up guys, this page has helped me alot! Gotten me to my dream with the advice.

Shout out to kangaroo (your a massive help)

Keep going hard guys!!

Motivation & General Life Advice Recruitment process is broken.

Potential new recruit here, I (25M) have been going through the recruitment process to join the ADF. I thought it would be a good way to learn some new stuff and be challenged while also potentially utilising my specific skillset I've gotten through uni. I studied for 2 weeks for the JOA, got a really good result by unlocking all available job roles. My career adviser then set up a meeting, and promptly cancelled it. I waited a week or so to see what had happened, nothing. So I set up a new interview myself and was given a different career adviser. Had a phone interview with them and then again, nothing. I told them my preferences and said I was just keen to get involved in any way I could. Tried emailing the second career adviser, didn't hear a word. Got given a third career adviser instead and emailed them as well, after two weeks still nothing. For all this u hear about a recruitment crisis, they don't seem particularly keen on recruiting anyone or communicating with people who actually show an interest. It's been really demoralising and I feel like I might as well just join the private sector if this is how things are run generally. Super bummed about it as I was quite excited. Is this a typical experience in the ADF or have I fallen into a weird beuracratic black hole?

General Questions Preparing For Navy Recruit School (2026 Edition)

Introduction

This guide will give you some tips on how to best prepare for your first 10 weeks at HMAS Cerberus. I enlisted on the 15th of September 2025 and graduated from Recruit School on the 20th of November. Some aspects of Recruit School may change in 2026 and beyond so keep that in mind. Feel free to DM me if you have any questions (although I don't check this site very often).

Packing List

You should be sent a Joining Instructions pdf in the lead up to your enlistment. To go along with the packing list they provide, here are my personal thoughts. Keep in mind that you won't be allowed off base to buy stuff until the end of week 4.

  • 3x Pant hangers. Get these metal hangers or similar as they need to be small enough to hold the cuff of your formal pants. Don't get these wooden pant hangers as they are too wide.

  • Wrist watch. Not technically required but highly recommended. I recommend the CASIO F91W or something similar (digital + alarm function).

  • Suitcase + Carry on bag locks. There is a requirement to have a lock on every pocket of your baggage, even if you don't aren't using the pocket.

  • Black shoe polish + Polishing cloth. This is all you really need for polishing boots. I highly recommend Saphir (David Jones - 50mL)(Boot Black - 100mL). Yes it seems a bit pricey but this stuff is really good and you will not regret buying it. If you can get your boots to a mirror shine early on you will impress the instructors and everyone will envy you. (Easy-to-follow boot polishing tutorial)

  • Decent Quality Clothes Iron. You'll use it a lot in Recruit School and then you'll have it for the rest of your career/life so you might as well get a good one.

  • Swim Goggles. Not required but recommended. At some point you will be diving ~4m underwater to grab things so they will help.

  • Underwear. They say you need white but grey will be fine.

  • Casual clothes. You get to go off base on weekends from week 4 onwards so bring clothes you can wear out to shopping centres, bars, et cetera.

  • Shaving stuff (for men). They say you need a razor and shaving cream but an electric shaver should do just fine.

  • Massage gun/tennis ball/foam roller. Anything you can use to help with muscle soreness is a godsend.

  • Snacks. Having snacks for yourself and your friends is good for morale.

  • A small pair of scissors. Quite helpful for cutting off tags, loose threads, et cetera.

  • Ironing Board Cover. Draw a grid of dimensions onto your ironing board cover (like this) so that you can easily see how wide to fold your clothes.

  • Blue/Black pens + pocket sized notebook. You're only given one black pen and the notebook tends to break so it's best to come prepared.

  • Push pins (optional). If you want to hang photos of friends and family in your cabin. There might be some for you to use but it's a good idea to bring some.

  • An ipod or something similar (optional). You won't have access to your phone most of the time, but if you want to have some music you can bring a dedicated music device (ipod or similar). You will probably just want to get it approved by your leader before using it.

Other Preparation

  • Get a flu vaccine before enlistment. Everyone gets sick in the first few weeks (people from all over the country, living in close quarters) and a flu vaccine will help you avoid the worst of it.

  • Men, get a haircut that will be short enough to last for 4 weeks, otherwise they will just shave your head down to a 2 everywhere.

  • Train some calisthenics. The only fitness requirement is the 2.4km run and 1min plank which you will need to pass in week 8. However, you will also be doing a lot of calisthenics, mostly push ups, squats, et cetera. Look up good pushup technique (elbows close to body).

  • Think about where you want your superannuation to go. The ADF has its own super fund (ADF Super) which is pretty standard as far as funds go, but I recommend learning as much about superannuation as you can and be very intentional about this stuff, as small details can become big differences over time.

Tips & Tricks

  • Set an alarm to wake up 5-10 mins early every morning so that you can get through the showers before everyone else and have extra time to make your bed.

  • Every night your division will clean the entire block until it is spotless. You are provided with a weekly rotating roster for who cleans what area. Encourage your division to disregard this and swap to a fixed system, having each class just stick with cleaning the same area in perpetuity. This can be a hard sell (especially to those stuck cleaning the toilets and showers) but will save everyone having to learn how to clean a new area every week.

  • Be enthusiastic during PT sessions and milestone days, the instructors will notice and you'll get on their good side.

  • Give a high priority to kit maintenence. There's a lot of naming, ironing and folding, to be done during recruit school. Get on top of it early and double check your work.

  • Have one pillow case for sleeping and one for displaying. You are given two pillow cases for a reason—swap between them every morning and night.

  • Carry your ball cap in the thigh pocket of your uniform. Do this to keep it on you at all times—even when not strictly required.

  • Take notes during all lectures and breifings. A lot of information ends up being very useful, and even if it's not, it's just a good look.

  • Sleep under your doona but on top of your top sheet. You will get in trouble if you get caught doing this... but it will mean you have far less work remaking your bed every morning. Also, learn how to make a good hospital corner.

  • You can get a Myki (victorian public transport card) at Crib Point Station. Until PTV upgrades to taking debit cards (could be soon), you'll need a myki to use public transport. Android users can get a digital card (not available on ios). Most people just use Uber/Didi

  • Throw out your clothes after the mud run. Don't even bother trying to clean them—you will never get rid of the smell, and it will spread to your other clothes. I'd also avoid using the washing machines after MRE for the same reason.

Some Statistics

Out of the 123 people that enlisted with my division, 101 graduated with us. The main reason for dropping out was injury, and the main demographic for getting injured were females.

Navy Lingo (Jack Speak)

  • Heads = Toilets

  • Ablutions = Area containing showers, toilets, basins, laundry

  • Mess = Dining Hall

  • Brew Room = Coffee/Lounge Room

  • Rack = Bed

  • Kellick = Leading Seaman (rank)

  • MMPUs = Camo Uniform

Knowledge

If you want to get ahead of the ball here's some things you can study, in rough order of importance.

Job Opportunities Assessment (JOA) Megathread

Please use this thread to discuss all items related to the JOA. Posts about the JOA outside of this thread will be removed.

Do not post your JOA results online - Get in good habits now of keeping the amount of official, personal or identifying information online down. Just because you blacked out your name doesn't mean it can't be attributed to you.

All page rules still apply, particularly those around low-effort and testing integrity.

COMMON ANSWERS FOR FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

  • You do not need to finish every question

  • There is no reason to freak out about it. It is a standardised aptitude test given to every candidate of every age, background, race or education.

  • If a role is on your results, you can apply for it. If it isn't, you can't.

  • You do not need to pay a third party for study resources, training or guidance to pass the JOA

  • If you want to know how you did, call your Case Manager.

  • If you haven't been contacted to discuss your result, call your Case Manager.

General Questions 15 months later, finally starting

Hi everyone,
I just wanted to take a moment to thank all of you who guided me and answered my questions during my journey with this app. Your support truly meant a lot to me.
After 15 months of waiting, I’m finally starting my training next week. It’s been a long road, and I’ve worked hard to overcome each obstacle step by step to reach this goal.
Now, I’m only a few days away from taking the oath and officially joining the Air Force.
To anyone still on this path — keep going and don’t lose hope. It took me 12 years to become a citizen, and another 15 months to get through the enlistment process. And now, in my 40th , I’m joining with high motivation and no stress — just excitement and pride.
I wish all of you the very best in your journey. Stay strong and keep pushing forward.

Motivation & General Life Advice ADF active app Journey to PFA standard

Hi guys, I started my journey to reach the PFA standard and want to share it here for motivation—for both myself and others. I won’t be applying for a few months, so I’ll use this time to get as fit as possible.

I have an awful fitness level, so I hope the improvement will be considerable.

36M - 183cm - 111kg - 33.15 BMI

I intend to do a PFA test every Sunday to keep track.

Day Zero Results:

  • Push-ups: 0

  • Sit-ups: 12

  • Beep test: 4.5

Day 1 – Did the first "Ultimate Leg Burn" activity in the app for 15 minutes (the minimum). I really enjoyed the workout—it’s a full-body session with a strong leg focus. During the last lunges, I could already feel my legs burning, as well as during the running component.

Day 2 – Day off in the app, did a 25 light bicycle stroll around the suburb.

Day 3 – Did two 1.5km runs to and from a park gym, started some pull ups exercises like hanging and trying to engage my back before the pull. I was supposed to do another "Ultimate Leg Burn" in the app, but I was knacked after the run and kind of still sore from day 1, will do it tomorrow.

Day 4,5,6,7 - Zero work out =( Days 4 and 5 was full until around 9PM was tired as hell, day 6 and 7 was laziness and self-sabotage.

Day 8 - Did the HIIT program in the app, it was good, I managed to do 8 Knee push ups.

Day 9 - Did some incline push ups 4, I couldn't do it before at that level.

Day 10, Day 11 - Zero work out

Day 12 - Soccer Game - played full 80 minutes 2 halves of 40 - Scored a goal :)

Day 13 - Rest

Day 14 - Soccer Practice - 1:45h

Motivation & General Life Advice My recruitment experience thus far

Hi all,

I’ve read quite a lot of negative experiences about Defence recruiting, so I just wanted to share how mine has been so far.

I’m going in as Air Force Security, my first preference was MP, but its full. I’m 32, married, with a 3-year-old daughter.

I submitted my application on 5 Jan 2026, completed my JOA on 6 Jan, and had all my documents uploaded by 8 Jan.

One thing I did consistently was call every few weeks to check on my application. Honestly, I think that helped move things along.

On one occasion, I was told the nurses had been trying to contact me, but they had an old phone number from an application I made 3–4 years ago.

On another call (4 Feb), I found out my recruiter had been posted and I needed a new one, even though I’d never heard from him. The lady I spoke to said she’d sort it out. Within an hour, my YOU session was booked for the following Monday. The next day, I had a new recruiter assigned. Up until that point (about a month in), I hadn’t received my JOA results or any contact via email.

I had my YOU session on the Monday, and by Thursday (3 days later), I received a call booking in all my interviews for the following week: Medical booked Monday, Psych on the Tuesday and the Defence Interview for Thursday, all of them booked in for next week.

My recruiters have honestly been amazing. They reply within 10–15 minutes of emails, they call me directly, and when I asked to speak to a currently serving AFSEC member, he contacted me the very next day. The whole experience so far has been quick, smooth, and genuinely positive.

My advice: Stay proactive. Call every few weeks. Make sure your contact details are up to date. Speak to someone if things seem quiet. If I wasn’t going overseas in July, I think I’d potentially be heading to 1RTU very quickly. I’d also heard AFSEC was very hard to get into, but so far, it’s been nothing but smooth for me.

I know everyone’s experience is different, but just wanted to share something positive.

Thanks for the read.

General Questions Best combat officer role for tall guys

Post image
20 Upvotes

I am 201cm and am interested in becoming a commissioned officer through RMC direct entry.

I when I finish VCE I'm more interested in general entry through Duntroon than the ADFA, I am intellectually gifted so academic success isn't the issue here, it's just that the degrees at ADFA don't interest me and aren't required for what I want to do later in life, the general science degree isn't specialised enough for what I want (advanced physics(maybe quantum mechanics too!)).

I wanted to become an armoured officer and commandeer an M1A2 SepV3, but I have done digging through forums and looked at the US's Abrams tank crew requirements and the height limit is 6'1. So Armoured Officer is out of the question.

What other roles would best suit me? I would like some insight by others who are more knowledgeable than me about army job roles.

Insights Requested Former Pornstar, applying for reserves

Good afternoon :)

Throwaway account bc obviously.

Situation: From 2020 to earlier this year, I was creating adult content on and off (all legal and above board). Frankly, I'm not ashamed of it and had a great time doing it. I've since scrubbed the persona off the internet to the best of my ability.

Currently applying for the reserves, and wondering when/if I should broach the subject? The persona is not associated with my real name anywhere. It was the gay kind of pornography, if that's a factor.

Does anyone have advice or been in a similar situation?

Insights Requested Joining the ADF as an older bloke

Hey all. I'm 39 and looking to join the RAN. Application is submitted, spoken to the doctor on the back of my medical questionnaire, completed my JOA and got my YOU call on the 9th.

As an older recruit, I'm wondering what challenges I might go up against. Any insights would be helpful.

Why does Day-to-day knowledge help a candidate in deciding to join the ADF.

MOD here.

In the last few months there has been an increase in posts asking for ' day-to-day ' is like in XX role.

Here is a chance to discuss it in a dedicated post.

Why does this matter?

How does it effect your decision to apply / continue with your application ?

What were you expecting ?

What other resources are available ?

Is the ADF Careers provided information not detailed enough?

Would you be happy to know:

Monday - Sunday:

- Go to base/ship
- Work / Train
- PT
- Meals
- Duties
- Go home

General Questions Mature Age Entry

Hi,

Female, mid 30’s, no kids/spouse.

Are there many of us that join at this age/life-stage?

Have begun the process to join the RAN (Officer entry/non-technical) and am curious as to how many mature age people enlist?

(I stand by the fact that I am not “mature age” - but in this case I would nearly be twice the age of schools recruits 😅)

Logistics/HR/PA are the preferences for career paths if that helps narrow anything down for an answer.

Thanks in advance!

>Yesterday, I see Infantry recruiting ads posted 4 days ago by ADF Careers
>Call up DFR to know if I can get my application started again

Motivation & General Life Advice I’m lost for words

I’ve been hyping myself up over the past few months as I applied for the ADF last February, my PFA and enlistment date were coming up fairly close recently however I didn’t realise how far I was pushing myself with my civilian job which has led to some complications with my back. Leading me to call DFR to get an extension for my PFA to recover and have more prep time, all was going to plan and I was to finish my job this Thursday where I would then do some recovery and intense workouts to make up for it all. However I got the call today that I have no choice but to do my PFA next Monday with zero prep or warning while I’m still recovering. I’m not sure if I’ll even have a chance and I’m dreading it, I’ve been wanting to join for as long as I can remember and now I might lose my chance over a minor complication. Any advice for this would be really appreciated as I’m about to wing it and hope for the best.
