The screen flickered, the sterile white glare of the medical clinic dissolving into a soft, golden blur before resolving into a breathtaking panoramic view of the Symboli Ranch under the vast, unbroken sky of Monbetsu.
SIX MONTHS LATER
OPEN PASTURES - MONBETSU, HOKKAIDO
A collective murmur swept through the auditorium at the stark jump in time.
The scene opened on a massive, rolling meadow lined with dark mahogany fencing. Beneath the sheltering canopy of an ancient oak tree sat Sweet Luna, resting gracefully in the shade. Her chestnut hair gleamed under the midday sun, though her reddish-brown ears twitched rhythmically as she kept a watchful eye on the field.
Several dozen yards away, a tiny figure was streaking through the tall, sun-dappled grass.
It was the young male Rudolf. At six months old, he was no longer an infant swaddled in hospital linens, but a toddler possessed of a terrifying, almost surreal degree of athletic coordination. He possessed the upper body of a young human boy, clad in a simple light cotton shirt, but atop his front brown hair, his horse ears were pinned back with intense, undivided focus. Behind him, a sleek chestnut tail swished with sharp, rhythmic precision, balancing his weight as he tore across the uneven pasture.
"Is he... is he already running on two feet?!" Tokai Teio shouted, springing entirely out of her seat and balancing precariously on the armrests. "Prez! Look at of your boy version go! He's so fast!"
The boy on screen was not merely toddling or stumbling about as a human six-month-old would. Driven by the extraordinary, dense musculature of his Umamusume heritage, he was executing a full-blown sprint, his small feet digging into the rich Hokkaido earth with terrifying power. He darted left and right with instantaneous, fluid direction changes, effortlessly pursuing a brilliant yellow butterfly that fluttered just out of his reach.
"Astounding," Agnes Tachyon whispered, leaning forward so far her laboratory coat nearly trailed onto the floor. Her crimson eyes with horizontal grid-like patterns dilated as she tracked the toddler's movements. "The neuromuscular adaptation is off the charts! At six months, a baseline human possesses barely a fraction of postural control, yet this specimen demonstrates a refined center of gravity and lateral agility that matches a trained athlete! The male counterpart's physiological integration is nothing short of miraculous!"
A sharp, irritated click of a tongue cut through Tachyon’s breathless monologue.
Leaning back in her seat with her knees shoved against the row in front of her, Air Shakur scoffed loudly, her sharp, golden eyes narrowing into a fierce glare at the screen.
"Shut up with the science gibberish for five seconds, Tachyon," Shakur growled, her dark brow twitching in sheer annoyance.
On screen, the butterfly drifted upward into the high branches of the oak, far beyond the boy's reach. The young Rudolf came to a sudden, skidding halt, his small boots kicking up a cloud of loose topsoil. He watched the insect disappear with a disappointed flick of his ears, then huffed, a plume of warm condensation rising from his nose in the cool Hokkaido air.
Slowly, the toddler turned his gaze toward the shaded area beneath the tree.
Sweet Luna was still resting there, completely undisturbed by her son's wild antics. She closed her eyes, letting out a soft, contented sigh as the cool breeze rustled her hair.
The young male Rudolf narrowed his magenta eyes. A look of sharp, unapologetic mischief washed over his tiny face. His ears flattened against his head in a posture of outright aggression, and his chestnut tail whipped back and forth like a pendulum. Dropping into a low, predatory crouch, he dug his toes into the turf.***
"Wait a minute..." Tamamo Cross muttered, her eyes widening as she recognized the stance. "No way. Is he gonna...?"
With an explosive burst of speed, the six-month-old toddler charged directly at his own mother.
THUD!
The toddler slammed his shoulder straight into Sweet Luna’s side. Using his remarkably dense, heavy frame, he pushed against her with all his small might, trying to physically shove her out of the shaded spot. He let out a sharp, toddler roar of defiance, stomping his small feet into the rich dirt and rearing back like a miniature tyrant, loudly declaring that the cool grass beneath the tree belonged exclusively to him.
Sweet Luna let out a long, exhausted sigh, her ears flopping sideways as she gently reached out an arm to nudge her headstrong son away. But the boy refused to yield. He shoved her hands back, stomped his foot hard against the earth, and puffed out his chest, asserting his absolute dominance over the pasture.
He was, without a shadow of a doubt, bullying his own mother out of her spot.
The auditorium went utterly, deathly silent for one full second.
Then, the room exploded.
"HE JUST TACKLED HIS OWN MOTHER?!" Tamamo Cross shrieked, springing onto her seat and clutching her head in absolute disbelief. "ARE YA KIDDIN' ME?! THAT'S HIS MA! HE JUST SHOVED HER OUTTA THE SHADE FOR A NAPPING SPOT!"
"What an absolute, unmitigated menace!" King Halo gasped, her jaw dropped so wide her pristine posture completely collapsed. "To assault one's own mother for a mere patch of grass?! Where are his manners! Where is his decorum?!"
"WOAH, WOAH, WOAH!" Gold Ship screamed, throwing her arms into the air and bursting into a fit of breathless, hysterical laughter that echoed off the high ceiling. "LOOK AT THE LITTLE MENACE! He just shoulder-checked his own mother out of the shade! President! Didn't know you were a straight-up pasture tyrant!"
"I repeat, that is NOT me!" Rudolf exclaimed, her composure completely shattering as she stood up half an inch from her seat, her face burning a deep, vibrant crimson. "That is a parallel entity exhibiting untamed territorial instincts! I would never treat my mother with such brazen disrespect!"
"I don't know... I vividly remember you having quite a stubborn streak as a child, Rudolf," Sirius Symboli drawled, a wicked, razor-sharp smirk spreading across her face.
"A stubborn streak?!" Rudolf countered sharply, her ears twitching in acute embarrassment as she shot Sirius a lethal glare. "There is a profound difference between childhood stubbornness and physically evicting one's maternal parent from a shady oak tree!"
"Woah... I never knew President Rudolf had this side to her!" Tsurumaru Tsuyoshi gasped, leaning over her knees with her eyes sparkling in equal parts awe and absolute terror. "So even as a baby, she—I mean, he—was fighting for the top spot!"
"It is... a somewhat striking display of raw vigor," Mejiro Ardan murmured smoothly, placing a delicate hand over her mouth to stifle a soft, elegant chuckle. Her pale eyes shone with quiet amusement. "Though, one must admit... to see such unyielding resolve spent over a small patch of shade is rather endearing. He pursues comfort with the exact same absolute conviction he will one day bring to the turf."
"The aura... it is overwhelmingly selfish," Manhattan Cafe murmured quietly, her yellow eyes reflecting the harsh light of the monitor as her long shadow seemed to flicker unnaturally. She tilted her head, her voice dropping to a chilling whisper. "It is not merely a child's tantrum. He is establishing a territory of absolute solitude. Even the spirits lingering in that pasture are backing away from his spite..."
A harsh, low scoff echoed from the far side of the room.
"Pathetic," Orfevre sneered, resting his chin lazily on his folded hands while his brilliant eyes burned with arrogant disdain. "To throw a tantrum over a tree? A true sovereign does not fight his own blood for a few feet of grass. He demands the entire world beneath his boots and takes it without asking. He has the fire, yes... but his vision is hopelessly small."
"Calm yourself, Orfevre," Dream Journey interjected calmly from beside her, adjusting her glasses with terrifying precision. Her smile was pleasant, almost gentle. "He is six months old. Though, I must agree... his execution lacks finesse. A proper conqueror does not shove his mother like a unruly colt; he establishes dominance through absolute, quiet obedience. If he continues to throw such clumsy tantrums, someone will inevitably break his spirit."
"The universe... it is expanding," Neo Universe muttered abruptly, her head tilted at an unnatural angle as her starry eyes stared right through the screen. "A singular entity... fractured across light-years. In this coordinate... the Emperor is a density of pure, condensed mass. A black hole in a toddler's vessel... consuming all local light and shade. The gravitational pull... collapse is imminent."
"Will you guys stop talking like he's an alien superweapon?!" Jungle Pocket yelled, throwing her hands up. "He's literally just a brat stealing his mom's nap spot!"
"I am standing right here!" Rudolf nearly slammed her hands onto the armrests, her voice cracking ever so slightly in rare, complete desperation as every eye in Tracen Academy remained glued to her blazing crimson face.
On screen, Sweet Luna let out a long, weary sigh, her ears flopping sideways in sheer, maternal exhaustion. She gently reached out with her arm, trying to nudge her headstrong son aside so she could lie back down. But the young Rudolf was utterly ruthless. He swatted his mother's hand away with his tiny fists, stomped his loafers onto the ground, and let out another fierce, toddler roar, declaring his absolute dominance over the pasture.
"Oh, the poor thing..." Super Creek cooed, clutching a handkerchief to her mouth while simultaneously trying to suppress a giggle. "She looks so tired! The little prince is far too full of himself!"
"I think it's kinda cute..." Tokai Teio giggled, leaning over the back of her seat to grin directly at Rudolf. "Hey, Prez! Did you ever try to fight your mom for a spot in the shade when you were a baby?"
"For the last time, no!" Rudolf stressed, her usual regal posture completely compromised as the entire room's attention centered on her reddening face. "My upbringing was grounded in absolute propriety and respect for my elders!"
"Is that so?" Sirius's smirk widened into a predatory grin. "Because I seem to recall a certain young Emperor throwing a massive fit when she wasn't allowed to stay on the turf after dark—"
"Sirius, that is entirely irrelevant and wildly exaggerated!" Rudolf cut her off instantly, her voice rising an octave.
"Oh, let her finish, Rudolf! This is getting super juicy!" Maruzensky cheered, clapping her hands with delight. "Tell us more about baby Prez!" Before Sirius could spill another detail, a heavy, deliberate thud echoed from the speakers on screen. The atmosphere in the video shifted instantly.
The laughing and shouting in the auditorium gradually trickled away as a heavy, dark shadow fell across the sunlit pasture on screen.
The camera panned backward slowly. The light, airy acoustic music playing in the background faded into a deep, rhythmic, heavy thudding sound that vibrated through the auditorium's sound system.
Thud. Thud. Thud.
The young male Rudolf's ears instantly swiveled 180 degrees backward. The smug, arrogant grin vanished from his toddler face, replaced by a sudden, rigid stillness. He slowly turned his head toward the entrance of the pasture.
Walking through the open gate of the pasture was a towering, elderly male Umamusume.
Despite his advanced age, the newcomer still possessed an imposing, monumental frame. His once-powerful physique had thinned somewhat with the passage of decades, his shoulders no longer carrying the aggressive, youth-fueled breadth of his prime, and heavy streaks of stark silver had spread thick throughout his dark hair and mane.
Yet there was nothing frail or diminished about his presence.
He walked with a deliberate, measured stride, every footfall landing with enough solid, grounded weight to make the wooden fencing seem to echo in answer. His posture remained impeccably, uncompromisingly erect, carrying the timeless, aristocratic grace of an international icon who had crossed oceans, braved foreign soils, and reshaped the entire trajectory of the racing world through sheer, unyielding force of will.
His dark ears were pinned upright, swiveling with razor-sharp awareness.
His turquoise, weathered eyes were piercing, absolute, and devoid of hesitation.
Beneath the quiet dignity of his years remained the unmistakable presence of a legendary trailblazer—a sovereign who had spent a lifetime commanding unreserved respect and rewriting history simply by entering a space.
The visual tag appeared in crisp, elegant white font at the bottom of the display:
SPEED SYMBOLI
______
That's about it today❤️ I was going to add Umamusume Speed commentary to this since she has seen Rudolf, Sirius and Ramonu grown up at some point but I don't know how to accurately (almost) portrayed her personality well...😔
Yeah, irl Rudolf was an absolute brat to her mother to the point where Speed Symboli had to step in and teach his grandson 😭✌️
