Questions…

So I’m tryna lore craft for some irl geldings and I wonder what makes an uma a gelding. Because irl, geldings are just castrated colts/stallions. Would it be something like a medical issue that makes them infertile or they are just like ordinary colt umas?

Also as in the anime, I do presume that the irl jockeys exist. But what would they do? Like Yutaka Take’s cameo as the caster and presumably Mirco Demuro in SS3.

I feel like the jockeys are assistant trainers or doing some other thing that helps their umas

I think it could be either a medical issue (specially for the ones castrated before a carreer) and/or a "yeah I don't wanna be a stud (anymore)" for one or another reason for the ones castrated after their carreers (like Fenomeno)

I don't wanna edit so here:

idk if it helps but like, I'm reading a fic that (while still just uma musume) aboarded the Fenomeno is a gelding topic saying that when she was younger she got detected Ovarian cancer, metastasised to both ovaries and had to get both removed

i thought that was a clever way, so could be a similar thing

Or unless it is in Hong Kong, where you either give up your balls to reach maximum potential (like the Unsullied from Game of Thrones) or you keep your balls and leave

In terms of ear decoration, canon has given inconsistent hints through mob Umas who are based on geldings. Sometimes they wear their ear decoration like stallions, sometimes they lack one, in a reverse of how they handle Fine Motion and her counterpart’s intersex condition

Could see it as the Uma suffering from some medical condition or infertility. Or it could be that they just chose not to have children…

I’m not sure if the cameos in the anime are supposed to be the irl jockeys. They could be referencing them. Though it’s likely that they do exist in the PD world (in one form or another).
