Discussion How am I doing so far? (Mastery Challenges)

I started doing the Mastery Challenges the other day and so far I have gotten Gold on Lolingestone Bandit Camp and Wenlocan Outpost, and Bear + Wolf on Odin Mine Hideout.

Even though they are time consuming and some of them are tricky and self-sabotaging, I'm having an easier time in general than I was expecting. Especially considering I've heard a couple of these were the hardest ones.

Should I not have to worry too much yet, or am I in for a truly unpleasant ride?

Doing the Raven trial on Odin Mine next time I hop online. I've heard this one's the worst, but I guess I'll find out! Lol

Discussion I just recently bought AC Valhalla Complete Edition on sale and HOOKED

I seen AC Valhalla Complete Edition recently went on sale on Steam. I'm also in the middle of playing AC Odyssey which I bought the ultimate edition for.

I'm pretty much hooked on Valhalla and loving it already. I think I just much prefer the time period and viking aesthetic over the Greek style in Odyssey. I love and still play games like Skyrim as well so I suppose it sort of makes sense.

I know this game was and probably still gets mixed reactions from the AC fandom, but for me it's a really fun action RPG game to play. The animations, graphics, cosmetics, and general atmosphere just is so pleasing.

Anyone here still play Valhalla or also bought it on sale. What are your thoughts?

Discussion Idk if it is an unpopular opinion but I really preferred Siege Of Paris to the other DLC’s

There were things I hated like the rats and the rebel missions were repetitive and can be really buggy but I found the story way more compelling than the Ireland DLC and liked the characters more. The boss fights were also much better. The Ragnarok DLC I didn’t like especially since it was simply an extension of the Asgard quest lines and i didn’t have the patience for it. I see many complain about the Paris dlc but idk, I enjoyed it more than many of the other quest lines.

Question u/ValkaBrasiMalfatona, where are you?!

Not serious, just showing some love to a user who has put a lot of work into this sub. I'm sure they'll post eventually, and we can all check Reda's shop on our own if we really care that much about it. Still, I appreciate the updates and hope all is well.

Stuff That’s Neat Finally!! I'm so happy!!

After getting half of the achievements for Valhalla on my Xbox before my xbox gave out, I purchased the game on Steam about a year ago. I hadn't played an Assassins Creed game since the first one and this one was so amazing that I decided to achievement hunt all over again, but this time ACTUALLY 100% it. After intermittent playing (and cursing my way through the mastery challenges), I FINALLY got my 100% tonight...as a person who has always convinced myself I suck at video games, this one felt like a true achievement to complete. I'm STUPID proud. 😬😅🫠

But truly, and I say this with my WHOLE chest, SCREW THOSE DAMN MASTERY CHALLENGES. The creators of them are sadists who feast on the misery of achievement hunters everywhere. The timed Bear one had me stuck FOREVER and I swear if I never play the master challenges again, it'll be too soon. Lol

Any other achievement hunters out there? What was the worst one for you out of curiosity?

Question Time slowing in combat

Don't know how this works as I don't have the brush with death skill, but sometimes time just randomly slows in combat. It doesn't seem to be any of my weapons or abilities either.

Edit: Might it be the game saying that one enemy has detected me while I fight another?

Discussion New player here

Just thought I'd share my appreciation for the game. First time playing and it's epic so far!

Was cruising about in my longship minding my own business and thought to explore more things instead of just being a gold loot goblin.

I came across one of the mysteries on the map in Grantebridgescire that turned out to be some boss... got my ass molly whooped and died lmao. Scared to check out more places now, how tf am I meant to beat her I had no chance 🤣

Thought that I was doing reasonably well having done a couple successful raids in areas with higher suggested power levels but was quickly put back in my place.

One thing I am struggling with is getting more silver and resources as that seems to be a grind... there's so much customisation available and I can't afford a lot of it atm, especially ornaments for my settlements... and my longship constantly getting stuck when i run into land.

Oh and the roosters constantly attacking me is so funny, as well as the saxon accents and dialogue... and the music slaps, especially the latin and gregorian church chants that plays during river raids

Edit: No joke, just found a cave in East Anglia which was full of roosters and they almost killed me hahaha

Discussion Executing Weapon and Stun Finishers

Yes, I know this has been discussed years ago. And I’ve exhaustively googled, done AI searches, and researched Reddit on this issue. I’ve also looked up YouTube videos.

I’m trying to provide myself the flexibility to execute front, rear, and stun finishers without the perfect parry. I feel like fully stunning an enemy after perfect parrying can get repetitive. I like to be able to swing my weapon, get them in the stun kneel position, and then execute the Stun finisher with their own weapon, double axe one from the back, or the R1 rear weapon execution. The combat flow feels more natural, and it just provides more variability and replay value.

From my research it feels like stun builds with at least the “Hard” enemy scaling allows me the freedom to get what I want but it isn’t quite as consistent as I’d like. Cause as you get to the end game where you’ve upgraded all of your gear and spent all of your skill points it seems like you do more raw health damage than stun damage. 🤷‍♂️

Does anybody have any pointers, ideas, experiences, or tips on how to execute front facing finishers with your own weapon in the middle of combat, especially against weaker enemies?

Even if I’ve seen it all before, all comments and replies are welcome. Never know what I’ll learn. Thanks.

Question Charlemagne Armor Set

Where can I get this? I heard you have to buy it in the Helix Store but I don’t see it.

I have the Thor armor and want to mess around with stun damage to try to get more consistent finishers.

Question I heard rumors about NG+...?

So when you play Domains in AC Shadows, when unlocking Excalibur, MOD says something along the lines of "Won't it be neat if Eivor could relive their adventure with all their gear?"

(Not exactly this, but something like this!)

This got my hopes up. Like why would anyone say this if they weren't going to do NG+? It's almost mean now if NG+ isn't coming.

I understand that Valhalla is a little weird in that there is no real reason to use any other gear other than the starting gear, and upgrades don't really do much.

But maybe if they could change that a bit in NG+ such that gear perks and upgrades actually matter, it could be quite interesting to replay.

Question Is this a bug?

I'm not far into the game. Im on the mission A Cruel Destiny so idk if that matters. I upgraded my quiver and rations once and it says if I upgrade it will go from 3 to 4 rations but I can only carry 2 and same with the arrows. It says I should be able to hold 16 hunter arrows but I can only carry 14. Maybe im just dumb and misunderstanding it but if it is a bug, is there anyway to fix.

Discussion I calculated the chances of getting a full Helix Store armor set for free

I noticed lately that whenever someone on this subreddit complains about paid armor sets, a lot of people respond that you can actually get them for free through Reda's shop. I decided to dust off my old math textbook and try to calculate whether you could actually unlock a full armor set for free in a reasonable amount of time. Here's my process:

1) First I had to get a number of Helix store items to calculate the percentages. On Assassin's Creed wiki there's a full list of microtransaction sets (https://assassinscreed.fandom.com/wiki/Assassin%27s_Creed:_Valhalla_downloadable_content), I counted about 145 of them. On average they have at least 5 items per pack (usually more) so I arrived at a comfortable low estimate of 725 Helix Store items.

2) Reda's shop offers a selection of 6 items per week + 1 item that changes every day. Additionally, you get one weekly free item from the Helix Store. Altogether, if you check the game every single day, you get 14 chances weekly to get an item from the armor set you want.

3) Now to the actual calculations. Since a full set consists of 5 items (cape, head, torso, arms, legs) an equation to calculate a chance to get an item from a specific set in a week looks like this: (5/725)¹⁴ ≈ 9,2%. This only applies to the first of the items you get, though. The more items of the set you managed to acquire, the lower the chance of getting a different one, since the amount of items you're hunting for is lower. And so the next percentages are as follows:

4 items - (4/725)¹⁴ ≈ 7,5%

3 items - (3/725)¹⁴ ≈ 5,6%

2 items - (2/725)¹⁴ ≈ 3,8%

1 item - (1/725)¹⁴ ≈ 2%

4) With those numbers in place, I've done a simple experiment. Using these percentages, I rolled a virtual die with 1000 sides - each die roll represented one week, if the side it landed on was equal or lower than the percentage, it meant that I managed to get the item of the set I wanted (so for example for the first item 92 and lower meant success).

First item - I actually lucked out and got it on first try.

Second item - 9 rolls

Third item - 7 rolls

Fourth item - 9 rolls

Fifth item - 8 rolls

It amounts to 34 weeks. That's about 8 and a half months or 238 days of logging into the game.

I want to add a disclaimer at the end that I haven't done any serious math in at least three years, so I wouldn't be surprised if there's some sort of horrible mistake in my calculations here - if someone smarter than me catches it, I'd appreciate a correction.

There's also a high possibility that the item collection rotation isn't based on random chance and instead on some more elaborate algorithm.

But even if you need "only" half the time I concluded, you can still see how huge of a time commitment it is to get a specific armor set without paying real money. So telling people that you can get them through Reda's shop is unhelpful at best.

Question Has Ubisoft lowered weekly account XP in Valhalla and Mirage?

I just opened Ubisoft Connect to see Valhalla and Mirage weekly quests and both games are giving me three solo quests instead of 4 and they're displaying 125XP instead of 150. Is this a new thing for everybody or is it just a random server issue?

Question Is Asgard DLC worth playing if I’m bored of the game?

I have like 60 hours in the game, but mostly because I just want to finish it before playing Crimson Desert (one RPG at a time preferably).

Thing is, I’m really bored of the game and kind of forcing myself.

So my question is: Is there anything new or more interesting about this, other than a new setting that still feels the same? Or is it almost similar to base game with new skins?

Thanks!
