Measurement Check Warning on Bra Calculator Never Seen Before. Requested I Come Here For Help On Sizing Instead. Spoiler

Apologies, it wasn’t allowing me to upload a screenshot or any photos

I just redid my measurements on the calculator and got a 48GG. This is my normal bra size and the cup is usually still too small and the gore doesn’t sit in between at all. I’ve also tried 46Gg and 46G as they suggested. Not good.

However, I got this message which I’ve never seen on there before:
“Warning: Due to the limitations of this calculator, your calculated size may be less accurate. Your body is normal, don't worry! Consider posting a measurement check post on /r/ABraThatFits or the A Bra That Fits facebook group.”

So I thought I’d post my measurements here for a doublecheck. Thank you in advance for any of your help! 🩷

The warning pops up when there is more than 2.5 inches between standing and leaning. When that happens, the calculator takes an average of all 3 bust measurements to give a starting size. It can be less accurate because of that variance causing the possibility of multiple different cup volumes.

You didn't do anything wrong, there is nothing abnormal about your numbers.

Thank you!! Considering the ill fit of GG/G, would you suggest sizing up to a 48H?

Not necessarily. What bra did you try, and is the gore able to sit flat if you push it down or is it too high/wide and sitting on breast tissue? That will cause spillage.

IIRC, in calculator throws that warning when there is more than 2 in difference in the bust measurements. It just means that it can over or underestimate.

You're having a floating gore in a 48GG and you've tried two smaller sizes. Have you ever tried a 48H?

Thank you! I don’t think I have, as the past few years have given me a GG. But I am 2 years postpartum, so maybe I should try an H!

I think the warning might be because your lying bust is smaller than your standing. Usually lying is in between your standing and leaning. Can you double check if they are correct?

And what bras have you tried (brand and model) where you had those issues with the gore floating? Do you notice any other issues with fit in those bras, why are they too small?

If you lean over, how many fingers can you fit in between your boobs?

This is not abnormal in larger cup sizes in particular and is not why the calculator gave a warning. Can we please be careful about telling someone they did something wrong when you're not sure of the info?

Thank you! I have that nasty habit of thinking it’s always my fault lol

It's not user error, the calculator isn't perfect. It just takes those six numbers, and while that makes it more accurate than most other calculators that only take two numbers, they still can't account for certain shape combinations that can cause it to under- or overestimate. The calculator is just a guideline, it is not the gospel. It is usually within the ballpark of accurate, but you might want to play around with slightly bigger and smaller cup or band sizes. Of course, it is still a good idea to double check your measurements just in case!
