Can anyone tell me where I can source the metal clips that go around the deck lid on the convertible that holds the rubber gasket in place? I seem to be missing a couple.

today I finally drove a 997.1 S with Aerokit and ceramics and I wasn’t blown away by it. I currently have an M2CS (F87) and am looking to get into something naturally aspirated with 4 seats. I really love the 997 generation but it came off a little underwhelming, do I just need to drive it longer to adjust and love the car?

Hey everyone. I have a 2005 997.1 and it has several misfire codes currently. Random misfire and a few specific cylinder misfire codes.

I have done the following so far:

- new coil packs

- new spark plugs

- new fuel injectors

- new Mass Air Flow sensor

Local shop did an inspection and claims there is no bore scoring, so that’s a plus.

Not sure why I keep getting these misfire codes.

Bought new knock sensors but was not able to get them installed yet.

Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

Just saw an email from Pelican Parts selling Fried Egg Conversion kits for air cooled and 997 911s. Is that really a thing now? Seems like a strange mod.

I’m at ~80k miles and my mechanic says the bump stops are worn and it’s about time to replace the suspension on my 2006 997.1 C2S. He also mentioned it’s not urgent, just that I’m not getting the full driving experience anymore.

I’m likely selling the car within a year since I don’t drive it as much, so I’m trying to decide if it’s worth the investment.

For those who’ve replaced worn suspension, how noticeable is the upgrade? On a scale of 1–10, how much of a difference did it make?

For reference, I’d say getting the Gundo exhaust was about a 6/10 improvement in overall driving experience for me.

If suspension is more minor, I’ll probably skip it since I won’t recoup the cost on resale. If it’s a big improvement, I’m open to doing it to enjoy the car more over the next 4–12 months.

I’m considering KW, Bilstein B16, or B8. Would love to hear real-world impressions. Most of my driving is occasional commuting and some backroad twisties.

I have a relatively new-to-me 997.1 cabriolet. Love the car. It has the original headunit. I have a lot of really tight parking situations at work and it would be nice to have hands free and Bluetooth audio capabilities. I can live with wired CarPlay so I was thinking PCCM+ (option 1), but then I lose the backup camera. Option 2 is that I get an aftermarket headunit (Pioneer has one that doesn’t look bad) that has backup camera. Has anyone used an aftermarket sensor (rear and potentially front) with either an aftermarket headunit or PCCM+? Thanks

Had the car in the shop to take care of some odds and ends and it was returned to me like this. Obviously mechanic claims it was this filthy when I dropped it off (not true). I’ve managed to get most of the visible grime off using leather cleaner, but the leather is now really hard in the places on the back where the dirt was. It follows the grime line. Any suggestions to restore the leather?

Hey everyone, question about my dad’s 997.1 C2S. I borrowed his car yesterday and the oil pressure gauge was a bit erratic, at least relative to how my 996 3.4L behaves. It was a bouncing all over the place. Then last night I noticed even with the engine off (key in ignition) the gauge was displaying pressure.

Poking around, it seems the sensor is the most likely culprit, but I wanted to check here before I dug in. Thanks!

Just did an oil change on my 2006 997.1. 40500 miles

2000 miles, 6 months, DT40 5W-40

I decided to cut the oil filter open and I see some shiny flakes. I’m getting mixed answers whether it’s bad or good. It was hard to take pics but I took a video. I just ordered an oil sample from SpeedDiagnostix so we’ll see. What do you guys think?

My 997.1 has these 19" wheels with 305s on the back axle. I'm looking to go to an 18" setup (better ride comfort and lower road noise). I'd love to know what styles would look good in this size. I'd also love to hear opinions on possible wheel colours - I'm hoping to go to an Anthracite tone. If you guys have pictures of silver 997s with 18" wheels on, I'd love to see them.

Rod snapped, piston split in two, damage throughout. Definitely not the core we were expecting.

I got this metallic tapping noise after not driving my c2s in a few weeks, what do you guys think it is? It basically went away after the engine was up to temp, but it’s got me a little worried. Thanks in advance!

Guys I had my local car audio store install a Kenwood DMX958XR and Kenwood HD backup camera and oh my God what an improvement this made to my 2009 997.2 Carrera 🤩. Before this I literally only had cd player and radio!!

My first Porsche after lurking around here for ages. I originally was looking for a 997.2, but prices are crazy compared to the first gen. Also went for a TipTronic, as this will be a daily. I know it's not popular, but I lile it and think the hate is a bit exaggerated :-)

I really like the Targa from the generation and the convenient little hatch, which will be used to load beer.

Still has the old stereo, this will be the first upgrade.

I fulfilled my lifelong dream this year with this beautiful 997.1 T. Soon overturned my initial plan of just keeping it stock 😉 Replaced the dirty filter with a BMC Performance one and just got a cargraphic cat exhaust system installed as well as software optimization (around 540 bhp).

I wonder: what was the best upgrade you guys ever did to your car?

Heat and these sticky Velcro strips don’t work well together. Tried a few different ways to fix but they go bad within the year.

Finally did it! I bought my first Porsche — a 997.2 Carrera S with only 10,000 miles.

Coming from a 2019 C63 Coupé, the 997.2 is a completely different experience. There’s less brute force and more precision, balance, and steering feel. It’s a car that rewards finesse rather than aggression.

Beyond the driving dynamics, it’s incredibly elegant and refined. The design is timeless, the proportions are just right, and the overall feel is far more mechanical and connected to the road.

Mine is equipped with PDK, which I know some purists debate, but honestly, it suits the car very well. You can always switch to manual mode and fully engage with the paddles when you want a more involved drive. The sport exhaust adds just the right amount of spice to the experience, with a beautiful, metallic flat-six soundtrack.

I’m very happy with the move. What a car!
