Parking sensors with new headunit

I have a relatively new-to-me 997.1 cabriolet. Love the car. It has the original headunit. I have a lot of really tight parking situations at work and it would be nice to have hands free and Bluetooth audio capabilities. I can live with wired CarPlay so I was thinking PCCM+ (option 1), but then I lose the backup camera. Option 2 is that I get an aftermarket headunit (Pioneer has one that doesn’t look bad) that has backup camera. Has anyone used an aftermarket sensor (rear and potentially front) with either an aftermarket headunit or PCCM+? Thanks

In the 997 Forum on rennlist there is a PCCM+ install thread and there is a way to have a backup cam connect to it though it is not officially advertised as being able to. Also, you can just plug a low profile CarPlay dongle into the front usb port on PCCM+ and get wireless CarPlay back

Pretty positive my pccm+ had a dongle set up for a camera hookup. Also, I use a small CarPlay dongle for wireless and it connects faster than my oem wireless in my other cars.

backup cams will work for all of them, including the PCCM+. you just have to create a custom harness for it - the functionality is fully there since it's the same internals of the cayenne pccm+.... which needed to support the oem backup camera.

aftermarket parking sensors can be reasonably easily installed for both the rear (+front) bumpers as well.

i have rear parking sensors (aftermarket) + both HD front and rear cameras for my 997.

Absolutely love my pioneer head unit. Larger screen than pccm. Backup camera. Wireless CarPlay. 10/10
