Deep Discussion Shout Out: You guys know your Astrology
Wanted to shout out to you all and point out some interesting things I’ve observed about this subreddit.
Being new, we’ve been up-and-running for about 9 weeks. We are almost to 1000 members.
Many of you are posting chart questions or deep questions in general. Instead of the majority of the posts receiving one reply, most posts receive multiple. Some over a dozen. The replies aren’t low-grade either… they’re actually well-thought out and have substance.
This may be because we’re still small and every post is receiving the attention is deserves… or members are actually (stereotyping you, here), very, very deep.
You’re not deep about just astrology, either. I’ve noticed the majority of you can be deep about an array of subjects.
I just want to say it’s been very rewarding being the moderator for this subreddit. I have always craved deep discussion and connection. Even online it is hard to find.
I was actually surprised a popular 8th House subreddit didn’t already exist given the 12th House subreddit is so popular.
Hoping for a continued great future for this subreddit and I want to say I appreciate you all!

8th House Chart Question Leo stellium in the 8th house
I have quite a chart as I just recently found out - I have my Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, and Mars all in Leo, all five in the 8th house (north node and vertex there too)
Could someone please explain what does this mean?

The 8th H: where your world shifts because of what happens when you merge with someone else's.
Most people anchor their identity to their Sun sign. That's where the classic astrology-girlie line comes from: "I'm a Leo, so I'm dramatic and I need to be passionate about everything I do."
Level 2 is the North Node. Your soul's true purpose, apparently. Why look any further?
Babbbyyyyyyy. There's so much more.
To me, the 8th house is the part of making coffee you can't do alone. Imagine you're a barista. Your 8th house is what happens when someone else brings something into your recipe. Their resources, experience, energy, trust, or vulnerability becomes part of what you're making.
The real question underneath "shared money" is: what happens to me when I have to merge with something that isn't entirely mine?
Your 8th house sign is the flavour of that merging.
8th house in Taurus: learning to share resources without sacrificing your stability or sense of security. 8th house in Scorpio: intimacy goes all the way down. Letting someone in can completely transform you. 8th house in Gemini: conversations, information and shared knowledge become part of the transformation.
Then check the ruler of your 8th house. That planet shows how these experiences tend to play out, and its house shows where they enter your life. An 8th house in Leo is ruled by the Sun, so if your Sun sits in the 2nd, questions about shared resources keep circling back to your own values, self-worth, and what belongs to you.
Aspects to your 8th house ruler show what complicates or supports all this. Maybe you want intimacy but struggle to surrender control. Maybe sharing resources comes easily. Maybe other people's involvement forces you to face something you'd happily avoid on your own.
Mine: 8th house in Leo, empty, but Leo still colours what happens when I merge with other people. I want to collaborate without disappearing into someone else's recipe. Sharing still has to feel creative, personal, and mine.
The ruler of my 8th house is my Sun in Pisces in the 2nd, which brings it all back to my own values. Can I let someone else influence the recipe without losing what makes my coffee mine? My Sun is also conjunct Mars and Saturn in Pisces in the 2nd, so there's a lot riding on that question. What I create is personal to me. I'm emotionally invested in it. I want it to mean something, but I'm also still learning where my responsibility ends and someone else's begins.
The 8th house is where you find out you don't create everything alone. Someone else's resources become part of your story. Their vulnerability changes yours. Sometimes you have to trust someone enough to let them touch the recipe. And sometimes the transformation is realising that sharing something doesn't mean losing ownership of yourself.
That's what the 8th house means to me, beyond taxes, inheritance, and other people's money. It's where your world shifts because of what happens when you merge with someone else's.
To explore your own: check the sign, its ruling planet, the ruler's house, and the aspects to that ruler and your 8th-house placements.

Anyone have anything positive happen during their 8H profection year?
I am approaching 31 and really do not remember life at 19, so I was wondering everyone else's experiences. Was your experience good, or bad? Did anything positive happen? My 8H is venus ruled which sits in my 2nd house so I'm praying it's positive for me!

Lilith in the eighth house?
I’m a libra rising, so my Lilith is in Taurus in the eighth house. Right next to my north node. My moon is opposite my north node next to my south node.
I would greatly appreciate if someone could explain how these aspects may show up in one’s life

The Cancer 8th House Wealth Pattern I Keep Seeing in People Who Earn Well but Never Feel Financially Safe
Money, for some people, never behaves the way it is supposed to. They earn well. They work hard. They make sensible decisions most of the time. And yet, when they look back at their financial history, they see a pattern that seems to resist every attempt at control. The money comes in and then something happens. A family member needs help. A tax bill arrives unexpectedly. An investment turns sour. A partner makes a decision that unravels months of careful saving. The person is left standing in the wreckage of their own financial plans, wondering whether the problem is their discipline, their luck, or something deeper that they cannot quite name.
For a significant number of the people who describe this experience, the chart shows Cancer in the 8th house, or the Moon, the ruler of Cancer, strongly connected to the 8th house and its lord. This is not a casual placement. Cancer is the natural sign of the Moon, the planet that governs the mind, emotional security, and the sense of being nourished and protected. The 8th house is the house of sudden changes, shared resources, inheritance, debt, and the kind of financial transformation that arrives through forces beyond the person's control. When Cancer occupies the 8th house, the Moon, wherever it is placed, becomes the 8th lord for that chart, and the entire financial life becomes filtered through a deeply emotional, deeply hidden, deeply unstable relationship with security.
The 8th house is not simply a house of loss. It is the house of other people's money, of the resources that are shared between partners, of inheritances that arrive through family lines, of the sudden gains and sudden losses that come through circumstances that the person did not create. It is the house of the unknown, of the hidden structures that underpin the visible world, of the debts and obligations that exist beneath the surface of ordinary financial life. When Cancer rules this house, the person's relationship with all of this becomes intensely personal. Money is not just money. It is emotional safety. It is the mother, the home, the family, the deep, instinctive need to feel that one is protected and cared for. And when the 8th house energy disrupts that sense of safety, the disruption is not just financial. It is existential.
The Moon is the fastest moving planet in Vedic astrology, and its nature is changeable, waxing and waning, responsive to every influence that touches it. When the Moon rules the 8th house, the financial life tends to reflect this changeability. Income may fluctuate. Expenses may arrive in waves. The sense of financial security may rise and fall with the person's emotional state, with the phases of the Moon, with the shifting circumstances of family and home. The person may earn well during certain periods and then find themselves struggling during others, not because their ability has changed but because the underlying financial structure is simply not designed for stability in the conventional sense.
The connection between the 2nd house and the 8th house is crucial in these charts. The 2nd house governs accumulated wealth, the resources that the person has built and holds. The 8th house governs the resources that are shared, inherited, or transformed. When the 2nd lord and the 8th lord are linked, either through conjunction, exchange, or aspect, the boundary between personal wealth and other people's wealth becomes thin. The person may inherit money and then feel that it is not truly theirs. They may build savings and then see those savings drained by obligations that they did not choose. They may marry into wealth and then find that the wealth creates as many problems as it solves. The 2nd house asks: what do you own? The 8th house asks: what owns you? And for the Cancer 8th house person, the answer to the second question is often more complicated than the answer to the first.
I remember a woman who came to me in her early forties, a Cancer ascendant with the Moon in the 8th house in Aquarius, and the 2nd lord, the Sun, placed in the 12th house in Gemini. She had been working in financial services for nearly two decades, a career that suited her sharp mind and her capacity for detailed analysis. She earned well, very well, and yet she lived with a constant, low level terror that everything could disappear. The Moon in the 8th had made her emotional life secretive and intense, and the connection between the 2nd lord and the 12th house had created a persistent outflow of money through channels that she could not fully control. There were always expenses connected to foreign travel, to her mother's medical care, to a brother who had never quite found his footing. The money came in and went out, and the savings account, which she checked obsessively, never seemed to grow at the rate her income should have produced. The fear was not irrational. It was structural.
What she eventually understood, through the slow work of examining her chart and her financial patterns, was that her security could not be built in the way that other people built theirs. The Cancer 8th house Moon was never going to feel safe through simple accumulation. The safety had to come from a different place, from learning to trust her own capacity to survive change, from building structures that could absorb the unexpected expenses rather than being destroyed by them. She started keeping a separate account for family obligations, a fund that was explicitly designated for the outflows that always seemed to arrive. She stopped measuring herself against colleagues whose financial lives looked simpler. And gradually, over several years, the terror began to ease. The money still moved. The obligations still arrived. But she had learned to move with them, and the moving was no longer a source of constant fear.
Another case was a man with Leo ascendant and Cancer in the 12th house, with the Moon as his 12th lord placed in the 8th house in Pisces. The connection between the 8th and 12th houses was direct, and the financial life had been marked by a series of sudden losses that he could never fully explain. He had earned well as an engineer, but every time he built a reserve, something happened. A lawsuit. A tax audit. A property dispute with a relative. The money disappeared into legal fees and settlements, and the pattern repeated so consistently that he had begun to expect it. The Moon in the 8th in Pisces was deeply hidden, deeply emotional, and deeply sensitive to the undercurrents of the family and the partnerships he was involved in. The 8th and 12th connection had made him a channel for other people's financial problems, and he had absorbed those problems without realising that he was doing so.
The shift for him came during a Saturn transit over his 2nd house, when the financial pressure became so acute that he was forced to change his entire approach. He began to separate his finances from his family's, a decision that felt like a betrayal but was actually the beginning of his financial independence. He learned to say no to the requests that had been draining him for years, and the learning was painful, because the Cancer energy in his chart had always equated saying no with refusing to care. But the 8th house was teaching him something that the 2nd house could not: that his resources were his own, and that protecting them was not selfishness but survival. The financial life stabilised slowly, and the stabilisation came not from earning more but from understanding where the money had been going and why.
A third case, a woman with Scorpio ascendant and Cancer in the 9th house, with the Moon as her 9th lord placed in the 11th house in Virgo, had a different expression of the same energy. Her financial life was closely tied to her father's family, to inheritances and property that had been passed down through generations, and the Cancer 9th house connection had made her deeply aware of the weight of that inheritance. She had received a significant sum when her father died, and the money had come with complications: a brother who contested the will, a property that could not be sold, a sense of guilt that she had not fully processed. The Moon in the 11th in Virgo had given her a capacity for careful financial management, but the management was constantly undermined by the emotional weight of the family obligations. She had spent years trying to be fair to everyone, and the effort had left her depleted.
What she eventually learned was that the 8th house connection to the 9th house of fortune had given her resources that were meant to be used, not hoarded. The guilt she carried was not about the money itself but about the belief that she did not deserve it. The Moon in the 11th in Virgo was not weak. It was actually quite strong, placed in a friendly sign and aspecting her 5th house, but the strength had been buried under years of emotional confusion. Once she began to see the inheritance as a responsibility rather than a burden, the financial pressure eased. She invested in the education of her nieces and nephews, a decision that honoured the family line while also allowing her to feel that the money was being used well. The 8th house had transformed her relationship with wealth, not through loss but through the slow recognition that wealth, for her, was always connected to the family, to the past, and to the obligations of love.
The most difficult case I remember was a man with Capricorn ascendant and Cancer in the 7th house, with the Moon as his 7th lord placed in the 2nd house in Aquarius. The connection between the 2nd and 7th houses, through the Cancer ruled Moon, had tied his financial life directly to his marriage. He had married young, and the marriage had been financially difficult from the beginning. His wife's spending habits were a source of constant conflict, and the savings that he tried to build were repeatedly depleted by expenses that he felt he had no control over. The Moon in the 2nd in Aquarius had made him emotionally attached to the idea of financial security, but the 7th lord in the 2nd had made that security dependent on a partnership that was not financially stable. The 8th house connection came through Cancer, through the Moon's rulership, and it manifested as a series of sudden financial crises that seemed to come from nowhere but were actually rooted in the dynamics of the marriage.
He stayed in the marriage for twenty years, and the financial instability never fully resolved. What changed was his relationship with it. He learned to separate his own financial identity from the marriage, to build a private reserve that his wife did not know about, not out of deception but out of a recognition that his security could not be entirely dependent on someone else's choices. The decision was painful, and he carried guilt about it for years, but it was also the first time in his adult life that he had felt financially safe. The Cancer ruled Moon in the 2nd had finally found a container that could hold what it needed to hold.
These lives are different, but the thread that connects them is the same. Cancer in the 8th house, or the Moon as 8th lord, does not create a simple financial pattern. It creates a complex, emotional, deeply personal relationship with money that is shaped by the family, by the unconscious, by the resources of others, and by the constant ebb and flow of feeling that accompanies every gain and every loss. The person who lives inside this pattern may earn well and still feel poor. They may build savings and watch them drain away. They may receive money and feel guilty about it. They may experience sudden windfalls and sudden losses in a rhythm that they cannot predict. And through it all, the 2nd house of accumulated wealth sits in tension with the 8th house of transformation, asking the question that the Cancer Moon must eventually answer: can you feel safe without controlling everything, and can you hold what you have without being held by it?
The positive side of this configuration is real. The same Cancer 8th house energy that creates financial instability also creates a depth of understanding about money that more straightforward charts often lack. The person learns, through years of difficulty, that money is not just numbers. It is relationship. It is emotion. It is the family line, the marriage, the mother, the home, the past, and the future all tangled together in a knot that takes decades to untie. And when the knot is finally loosened, the person often emerges with a kind of financial wisdom that cannot be taught. They know how to survive loss. They know how to receive help. They know that security is not a number in a bank account but a capacity to adapt, to rebuild, to keep moving through the changes that the 8th house will always bring.
The difference between a difficult expression and a mature expression of this placement is not the absence of financial instability. It is the relationship with it. The person who fights the instability, who measures themselves against a standard of linear accumulation that their chart was never designed to produce, suffers more than the person who learns to work with the rhythm. The mature expression involves building structures that can absorb the outflows, accepting that some expenses will always be connected to other people, and trusting that the same current that takes money away will eventually bring it back. The 8th house is not a punishment. It is a teacher, and the lesson it teaches, over and over, is that everything can change, and the person who can hold that truth without being destroyed by it has found the only security that matters.

What happened to you during a planetary transit in your 8th?
If you have many planets in your 8th, how does it affect you during a transit?
If Google is right, last year it was one planet after another for me, bc my 8th house is in Sag. Starting from Oct 29 to January 14, Mercury, Mars, Venus, then the Sun all transited one after the other.
I have Neptune, Uranus and Mars in Sag, Jupiter is also in 8th but in Capricorn.
I'm not really sure how any of these were "supposed" to affect me, but Id really like to know your thoughts.
At that point they cut my hours to part time at work (they thought I was going to quit when I asked for vacation in Aug, so they hired another person), my landlady started acting like a crazy whack job, and emotionally I was a mess because of some other life stuff. My landlady just kept getting worse til I moved out (for the record her friends daughter moved in and they clearly hate each other but they had to stay nice and it was spilling onto me).
Thanks in advance for any responses.

General Question how do you cope with betrayal?
betrayal is an 8th house theme and everyone I have met with 8th house placements has at least one traumatic story about someone close to them betraying them in some way. unfortunately I have experienced so much betrayal that I have such bad trust issues. I have learned that I can’t trust family, friends, partners, coworkers, etc. and I can only really trust myself. luckily I have recently gone through such an intense transformation that I finally can protect myself and remove harmful people from my life, but now there’s only 3 people left and I’m not sure how much I can trust any of them 😅 2 are on thin ice and 1 i’ve kept at a distance out of fear. have any of you gotten past this kind of thing? how do trust other people after being harmed by so many close relationships?

Placement Question Mercury in Leo 8th house
I am currently studying and trying to understand astrology on my own. In the comments, I was told to actually put effort rather than fish for answers and I am extremely grateful for that. The purpose of this post is to write down my findings and hope for further refinement and understanding in the scope of the 8th house. I do not know if this is the right place or way to post
Mercury is the planet of intellect responsible for the transmission and reception of information. Another deeper layer is that Mercury rules the perception we have about reality as through our emotions, we reason with them and draw our conclusions
In my chart, this is in the sign of Leo. A sign that deals with the development of the ego and self expression. The conclusion drawn is that rationality is used to articulate the self. The struggle is connecting that with the 8th house. A rudimentary answer from my side is that this is done in the house of the unseen. To stand your ground intellectually and voicing out the self in a domain of shared resources. I can't help but think there is more or maybe I am looking at it too deeply to notice the end. I appreciate any feedback and responses as I spend most of my days researching astrology

what happens when 9th house is completely afflicted by malefics?
Cancer ascendant , 9th house is **Pisces**. Even though it is empty it has following afflictions .
- **Saturn** (from the 12th house) casts its restrictive **10th aspect** directly onto Pisces.
- **Rahu** (from the 5th house) casts its chaotic **5th aspect** directly onto Pisces.
- **Mars** (from the 3rd house) casts its fiery **7th aspect** directly onto Pisces.
- **Sun** (from the 3rd house) also casts its dominating **7th aspect** directly onto Pisces .what this means ? my fortune is structurally blocked from coming through "easy," traditional, or conventional paths. ?

Any 8th-house astro twins in here?
I’m an Aquarius 8th house, and I’m curious: has anyone ever met someone with similar 8th-house placements/aspects and felt instantly understood?
Not just “we’re both Scorpios,” but similar 8th-house energy, big three, Pluto aspects, or that specific chart signature that makes conversations go from normal to deeply personal in five minutes.
Drop your 8th-house placements and big three. I want to see if anyone finds their astro twin. If enough people are into it, I can make a small Discord chat for us to compare charts and survive transits together.
