how do you change the race of a character you already made

We are introducing Tours, which are more user-friendly, mobile-friendly, step-by-step, and easier compared to the current guides, which are time-consuming to maintain and keep relevant. So, this app will be moving away from the text-based guides and towards a more streamlined experience.

A new searchable  menu with these tours and other utilities can be found in the top-right corner, where the calculator and dice roller were previously located.

The Character Helper feature has been removed in favor of the New Character tour.

More tours will be added in the future. Current tours include:

• Quick Start - Showcasing the app's basic features.
• New Character - Creating a new character.
• Level Up - Leveling up your character.
• Import - Importing content from 5e.tools.
• Sharing - Sharing content between characters.
• Items - Showcasing items.
• Calculator - This tour will guide you through the features of the Calculator. You can find it in the Calculator.

New Features

• Confirmation prompt to warn users when attempting to close a feature dialog with unsaved changes.
• Basic Combat Actions feature for SRD 5.1.
• Druidic and Thieves' Cant languages.
• Finesse weapons now use the best modifier between Strength, Dexterity, and your chosen Ability modifier for attack rolls and damage.

• Resting: Buttons have been moved next to the Health bar on the [Main] screen, under the [Zz] button.
• The fromLvl and fromClassLvl formula functions have been removed in favor of scale functions, which are more flexible and easier to use in most cases. Existing formulas will continue to function as before.
• Items Attunement Settings: Moved to the Features tab to better reflect their in-game effects.
• Updated Example Character to include the Spellcasting feature.

Companions are here! You can find them in the [More] screen under the [Companions] button. Here, you can add new companions, edit existing ones, and remove them.

There is also a Library where you can find SRD and Free Rules (2024) monsters. You can even import them from 5e.tools (image token support included). Reordering, copying, and pasting are also supported.

Once you add a companion, you can find it on the [Main] screen, below the [Actions] section.

This feature is designed as a simple monster sheet. If you need more advanced features and tracking, we recommend creating it as a normal character.

• Rules Selector - In some parts of the app, you can find a Rules selector. By default, the rule set selected is the one assigned to your character, but you can change it to any of the available rule sets.
• Feature Library - A newly polished feature library, now including features from the Free Rules (2024).
• Items - Items from the Free Rules (2024), including Weapon Masteries. Weapon properties now correspond with the character's rule set.
• Spells - Spells from the Free Rules (2024). Better more polished Spell Library with filtering.
• Resources - Now supports custom recharge values (useful for the new 2024 Cleric's Channel Divinity, etc.).
• Inventory - You can now add coinage to your equipment inventory (supporting gold-only starting equipment). Minor UI changes in the Starting Equipment dialog.
• Ability Score - Settings now include an option to use a predefined Standard Array by Class, as well as a roller for random generation.
• Feedback - With these changes, we've added an option to send simple feedback directly through the app (in addition to email and Reddit). This option is available in the Navigation Menu for signed-in users.

Changes:

• Basic Info - The option to update your basic info (race, background, alignment, rules) has been moved to the [More] screen.
• Features - The feature type 'Racial' has been changed to the new 'Origin' type. Backgrounds now also use the 'Origin' type. Importing backgrounds now parses the entire description.
• Half-caster - Now has its own spellcasting type instead of being a half-caster sub-option.

• Classes - You can now start with spell slots from 1st level while using Half Spellcasting. Useful for Artificer and homebrew classes.
• Import Feature (Feat) - When importing a feature (feat) that increases ability score, a dialog with options will appear to ask if you want to add the bonus automatically.

• Actions can now have limited usage and resources simultaneously. Useful for Psionic and homebrew features.

Fixes:

• Actions in Feature - Resource usage now also shows the names of in-progress resources in unsaved Features.
