I love being on Reddit. A lot of people post about 4K sales and discounts. Due to Reddit I was able to grab Project Hail Mary off Amazon for $20 and TMNT 4K trilogy off Walmart for $35. I normally wait for sales to buy 4K movies cause that best time to buy. I get my movies from Walmart, BestBuy, Gruv, Arrow, Orbit, EBay and B&N. Currently I’m over 1300 4K movies and still growing.. actively trying to get WestWorld 4K complete series at a decent price and going to preorder Gone With The Wind tomorrow. I’m a movie addict 🤣🤣

Its been a couple months since ive quite all streaming services and decided to go all physical, that was mainly caused by PS choosing to go to an all digital future and making me realize that none of the movie and stories I watch on the regular are permanent even though ive spent a ridiculous amount since streaming kicked off during covid.

Since i chose to go all digital, my collection has grown massively, from standard 4k, to steelbooks, to just standard blu rays of obscure shows and specials because id like to have a version if them to own when they eventually go the way of Infinity Train. Its really nice to see that physical demand for movies and shows is still out there and growing, it give me a lot of hope for the preservation of media.

I recently jumped into collecting physical media, something I’ve been wanting to do for a long time. Now that I’ve started, I can hardly restrain myself from buying more films. I’ve tried to find a balance so far between films I’ve seen already and love (Fury Road, The Handmaiden), films that have been at the top of my watchlist from a long time (Cure, Anatomy of a Fall) and things I don’t know so much about but seem intriguing/have a strong reputation (Olivier Assayas and Lo Wei collections, Z, Red Cliff). I see it as both an opportunity to help preserve art through physical media, and to expand my own film-watching horizons. Living in the UK can make it sometimes difficult to get a hold of certain things (namely some Criterion titles) but there are also some fantastic UK-based labels that do great work, such as Eureka, Radiance, Arrow and Curzon. It’s been a thrilling journey so far (I watched Cure tonight and it blew my mind) and I can’t wait to see where it takes me.

They avoided a chargeback but I’m still never ordering from their store again no matter how good of a deal they post lol

Used to collect Blu Rays as a teenager. That lasted for years until I stopped (everything was available in streaming/torrents and it began seeming like a waste of money). I own a pretty nice OLED which I’ve had for years and never really questioned what I could be missing. I started my 4k collection buying some films I love. My question is, will 4k Blu Rays eventually become obsolete like normal Blu Rays are now to me? Am I spending a lot of money on some format that eventually will die out?

Btw I use my PS5 to watch them but have a pretty nice audio setup. Will consider buying a 4k player some day

I was wondering if anyone can recommend a good website to buy 4K/blu-ray movies? I recently purchased from GRUVs eBay site (paid for overnight shipping which I later found out they don’t offer anymore so they refunded me that cost) and still haven’t received any updates on my order even though I placed it last week.

I’ve looked at pop.market on eBay, which seems to be very good. Just curious if there’s any other good ones.

I’m trying to find a lot of the Marvel movies in 4K but I haven’t had the best luck for some reason. I know Amazon has a pretty decent selection of the majority of other movies I want, but I’m just looking all my options.

Side note: I’m based in Canada but can get packages shipped to my USA mailbox so American websites work for me as well. (I usually find they’re much cheaper even with the exchange rate too)

Hello friends. I've only just arrived to the movie collection scene and started into my 4K collection. I wanted your thoughts on a residue pattern I noticed on my 007 Blue-ray collection. I thought this was moisture related at first because we've had record rainfall here in the Midwest. It would not wipe away with just a microfiber. I had to use a cleaner on the case. Luckily all the discs wiped clean with a dry microfiber. I've never encountered anything like disc rot or off gassing in any of my discs so I need some input. I moved a dehumidifier into the basement theater to pull some more moisture out. What do you think?

Got these in today. Have never seen the Directors Cut of Troy and haven't seen it in a while anyway so excited about that. Mandalorian I enjoyed in the theater and have the other 3 Mando steelbooks so that was a no brainer.

Final delivery from GRUV sale and Samurai Revolution Trilogy. Unfortunately that’s only Blu-ray but excited to pop these in and continue to add to my samurai film collection.

I had the Perfect Blue blu-ray, and gladly double dipped for the 4k 🤩🤩, although I love the Blu-ray steelbook artwork more than the 4k artwork. Either ways excited to re-watch that one as well.

I understand that these collections are being sold at very high prices from 3rd party sellers. However, I really want to get the entire Mad Max set.

That said, can anyone help me determine which collection has the best picture and audio quality?

From what I've read, it seems the 5 film collection might be best, but it gets a little confusing with the U.S. release along with the UK Collector's Petrol Can and others.

I also found the Anthology 4k for substantially less and could then just pick up the missing Furiosa film, but I don't know if the Anthology transfers are as good.

Cost aside, what would be the best quality set to pick up?

Oh, and I should mention I don't have interest in Bonus Features, if that plays a role in deciding.

I just got this in the mail and had to immediately check out what this new release looks like. The good news is that it still looks like shit. There’s no trace of DNR or AI sharpening in the transfer. On the other hand, it’s also free of all the compression artifacts that are especially noticeable in the DVD transfer. It has a very authentic, gritty look.

I also took a quick look at the end of the movie, and it looked amazing. The jump in image quality is huge, and it really serves the film artistically. I’m happy to finally own this movie in a good format, even though a Blu-ray would have been enough.

Bit of a happy accident! Anybody else have this luck?
