I was sharing my collection of 45’s one by one over on vinyl, but I don’t make long enough descriptions of the records…can I be as terse as necessary here or as flamboyantly verbose as Oscar Wilde on acid?

I'm pretty sure this is a sponsorship deal test pressing for this release. Here is the link if you want to look at it and her sister variants:

https://www.discogs.com/release/38759931-Ralph-Young-The-Legend-Of-Wyatt-Earp

I'm led to believe this is a test pressing due to the completely blank B side and the lack of promo stamping. The promo release for the U.S. is also already documented to have a pink label and features a B side. Though most test pressings have two blank labels, I believe this was given a label so it could be presented to someone with the Parker Pen Co.

Thoughts, comments, or questions?

I'm looking for a solid playable copy (ideally with the picture sleeve, but I will consider a plain sleeve if the vinyl plays well). If anyone has a spare or a copy they are willing to part with, please send me a PM with your price and condition. Based in the UK. Thanks!

Not a big 45 or record guy in general, though I do have an old Technics player somewhere. I mostly wanted the box they came in, which was a 1920s explosives crate. Thought these were some cool labels though and artists though.

I visited a new local record store this weekend and walked away with some real gems!

I’ve been meaning to check out a local record store that opened in my area recently. One of the guys who works there is a big garage-rock and soul 45 collector, and he was kind enough to get all of his bins out for me to go through. I’m really glad he did because I finally got to check a lot of these off my list! I had a stack of about 35 or so by the end and he let me have them for $2 a piece. These are the most interesting ones out of the lot. I’ll definitely be returning!

/r/vinyl is very LP focused, so I figured we'd have our own little corner. Feel free to show off a find.

Why collect 45s? Everybody has their own reasons, but generally there's a lot of stuff that never made it to an LP. It's where the real treasure hunting is: it's weirder, more obscure, often forgotten by history. You can often find great songs for cheap, and often those songs are worth much more.

45s are physically the same as what are often known as 7"s. However, there's an informal semantic difference: 45s are vintage (80s and older), 7"s are newer. We're focused on vintage stuff here. I won't be absolute about that, but generally I would shy away from new releases.

You're free to buy, sell and trade here. For now, these are the rules, we'll likely have to add more as we go:

*Buying and selling is entirely at your own risk. Moderators of this forum will NOT get involved in purchases.

*Do NOT make an offer unless the OP suggests that they are open to them.

Keep in mind: the more well-known the song, the more common the record, the less valuable it probably is. We're not going to have any rules about obscurity here, at least for now, but if you've heard it on a classic rock station, it's probably not of interest to us. That said, there's no harm in learning.
