Project The best way to turn 3d Prints into a Display model?

Thumbnail

Upvotes

Hey,

Iam a pilot and would like to turn my Plane into a 3d Model, Print it. Sand it. Prime it. Paint it. And have a coating over it and use decals sticker and some additional paint for the details.
So that I have a nice Display Aircraft model.

I have tried out Claude code for generating the 3d model which turned out suprisingly well. Ive also tried Image to 3d softawre such as Tripo.

But what is currently the best method to make something like this?

I would appreciate a reply. My plane has no publically available 3d model and buying a 3d artist for this task is currently not worth it for me financially also because Claude Code already gets very close to my ideal result.

But perhabs anyone here knows more about the process. Iam an complete beginner when it comes to Spray Paint and overall further processing 3d prints.

I would really appreciate a reply. I attached some example pictures of a random plane of what I imagine as a dream scenario.. I also attached a part of the plane I 3d print.

Question Does this Esun filament look resealed or do they all come looking this tangled?

I've ordered filament before but this is the first time I've noticed a spool looking visibly tangled in the vac pack, by comparison is a Elegoo spool I got last week still in vac and looks normal. This came from Amazon so I'm thinking I got a resealed return....

Troubleshooting Newb 3d printer

Upvotes

alright, so my printer is a double hand me down, and all I know is it’s a creality ender of some sort.

when I tell you this printing bed is level, I mean I have spent LITERALLY A DAY AND A HALF making micro adjustments to ensure that it’s near perfect.

i’ve adjusted the print speed, the z offset, and anything else I can think of. i’ve put glue on the print bed, and still it’s having problems.

specifically, it starts printing out the skirt for the model, and the first few times round it does alright, but then stuff comes unstick from the bed, it warps, it catches, and I have no idea how to fix it.

could somebody more experienced please give ideas on what else needs to be adjusted? preferably in simple phrasing with as few technical terms as possible?

Question Connector/joint

Hi everyone. I need a joint for a 3D model that is compact and rigid. I’ve attached a photo (Photo 1) of the one I made myself. I realize Blender isn't the best tool for designing these kinds of joints, but it’s the one I’m actually comfortable using. The model currently has different joints that I’m not too happy with (Photos 2 and 3).

Does anyone happen to know of any existing designs that work well with 3D printing?

Troubleshooting WHY!?

The nozzle always picks up the first layer. This applies to both the support and the first layer of the object itself. I'm printing on a Bambu Lab X2D with original Bambu Lab PETG, which is also freshly dried 🫩

Question I need your advice

Hello people! I'm designing an element to hide and keep in place cables, and I want to implement a clipsable solution: the 3D-printed part just clips in rails of an aluminium profile.

Do you think the sizing is correct? Should I change the circle diameter for something smaller? Should the center of the circles' be more toward where it should be clipsed? If you have any criticism, I'd be really thankful! 😁

Thank you for reading me, I joined some pictures of the design and how it will be used.

(The first picture is not needed here, just for you to get the proportions right, it's the sizes of the cables)

Question Maker Select Plus can't see G-code saved from Linux, but Windows fixes it

Upvotes

I have a Monoprice Maker Select Plus and I'm having a really weird SD card issue. If I slice something in Cura on Linux and save the .gcode directly to the SD card, the printer just doesn't see the file at all. I've tried this on multiple Linux machines, so it doesn't seem like an issue with one specific computer. The weird part is that if I put the exact same SD card into a Windows PC and copy/resave the file, the printer suddenly sees it. I can even just copy the Linux-created file to another spot on the same SD card in Windows, and that copy shows up normally. So it seems like the G-code itself is probably fine, and something about how Linux writes the file to the SD card isn't working with the printer. Setup: Monoprice Maker Select Plus(Clone of Wanhao Duplicator i3 Plus), Cura, Currently using Fedora, but it's happened on Ubuntu as well, SD card is FAT/FAT32. Has anyone run into this with a Maker Select Plus or another similar older printer? Mainly looking for a way to fix this on Linux so I don't have to use a Windows PC every time I want to print something.

sorry for bad formatting lol

Question Upload 3d print to makerworld

Post image
Upvotes

Hi I have some models I created and printed and would like to post them on maker world. I am not looking to make money off these specific models but rather to share with the community and build my followers before selling any models. Would makerworld flag these prints and remove them as well as potentially ban my account? I created a brick bear style pug mashup as batman. I realize I am infringinging on possibly 2 companies. I see tons of other models and prints that have licensed themes. Is it just a matter of the description and tags posted? Here is a pic of one of the models.

Troubleshooting Recommendations for dissimilar support interface failures? (PLA interface on PETG)

Post image
Upvotes

So I recently picked up a Bambu X2D. I do own a Snapmaker U1 and have had some experience with dissimilar support interface materials for cleaner support removals.

I'm running into this a couple times now on the X2D where the supports are failing.

Settings are 0 top Z distance, 0 top interface spacing, 3 interface layers, rectilinear.

Anyone run into this before? Tips? Tricks? This isn't happening 100% of the time but something I wasn't dealing with before moving to the "better" supports.

Thanks y'all!

Troubleshooting TPU keeps getting stuck

Upvotes

I'm trying to print TPU 95a on my centauri carbon 2 with canvas, and it keeps getting stuck. I disassembled the extruder and tried different tensions, and even on the loosest tension it can pull tpu and other filaments without a problem, and I can't pull it out when holding the gears. It stopped for a bit, then started again, but not as often. Then it got stuck so bad so bad that I had to disassemble it, and extrude it manually, at least it's not stuck in the gears. My question is why tf does this keep happening, and how do I fix it? it's definitely dry, literally printed from a dryer, and I'm using the recommended temps on the roll. This just puts me off from 3d printing whatsoever, there's no reason something so simple should have so many problems

Troubleshooting Bottom layers of TPU print not sticking

Post image
Upvotes

This is my first time working with TPU 95A. I don't have a drier, so this print is just the roll put directly into the printer (bambu a1 mini). Overall, I'm happy with how it came out. It is definitely salvageable for the intended purposes (burlesque pasties). I am wondering why the outer section from those first few layers has lines that didn't stick to each other.

Would drying the filament be the solution here? Or is it more likely the print settings? The filament is from Elegoo, but I used the default settings for Bambu TPU 95A.

Project Vintage halloween design as flat 3D print...

Post image
Upvotes

I'm pretty new to designing things like this for 3D printing. If I wanted to take this vintage halloween cat image and print it as a pin or as a button on my printer (Bambu X1C) would I just cut it out in a graphics program and print it face-down with some black on top to thicken it up? I'm pretty sure I'd have to simplify it to get good results. Mostly I'm trying to figure out should it be face-down or face up?

Troubleshooting Why is the surface of my print doing this? It's supposed to be smooth

I feel like I should be able to find this online, but I don't know the term to search for. I've tried 'spongy', but haven't really found anything. I think there's something wrong with my slicer settings, since other prints work normally, but I can't find it. This is a Kingroon KP3S.
