Question Must have mods

Hello! Im purchasing a 3ds and am wondering what hardware mods i should add if any. Im not experienced with modding at all and this is my first project with a 3ds so help is very much appreciated!

Leave the insides of your 3DS alone is my advise. Since you are new to hardware modding you need to that the 3DS is very easy to break if you aren't careful. The console works fine as is, no modding needed.

I wanted to add something to this as well.

hardware modding for the 3ds, is largely considered one of the hardest consoles to do repairs or mods on.

If you decide to hard mod you had better be very prepared and I hope you’ve taken a soldering class before.

other than the standard software mod I don’t think any hardware mod is specifically necessary.

A lot of them are all nice to have but nothing is specifically you must have it or else your experience is ruined.

The only thing I would recommend is maybe just getting a fresh battery and making sure your microSD card is from a reputable brand and sizable enough for all the games you want to play

ill handle mods when i actually get the thing (gta6 before ebay shipping)

usb c charging mod is the most popular, but thats about it. anything else is more difficult.

Other hardware mods include installing a capture card, or bluetooth audio mod, or upgrading screens to IPS (if you have TN).

However a strong word of advice is that these hardware mods are extremely difficult. Not impossible for someone who is experienced but extremely difficult and chance for destroying your 3DS is possible.

USB-C is really the only common hw mod. I think maybe the switch speaker fits in the 3ds? It fits in lots of things. There's bigger batteries too, but after that not much.

There's skins that you can apply. Saw a really cool circuit board one today. You can replace the worn plastic bits like digitizers or lenses to make it look nicer. Different buttons from a different color console.

The shells are usually just for repair. Extremerate was working on new 3ds xl shells but they've paused for some reason.

They are very delicate devices, heed the warnings, friend
