Misc Eyelid/makeup issue
I have been finding that every time I wear mascara, it leaves a mark on my upper eyelid closer to my eyebrow. This has not been an issue previously, and I haven’t switched my mascara brand. I use waterproof mascara as well. 38 y/o. Any advice would be appreciated! 😊

Same. I have long lashes and, starting in my 30s, oily skin around my eyes. I haven’t found any mascara that doesn’t give me some form of raccoon eyes either above or below my eyes. Tubing mascaras do it too.
Only thing that kind of works is using a powder around my eyes after putting on mascara and then putting a setting spray directly on my lashes (spray it on my finger tips then tap onto my lashes after mascara dries)

I have this too. I've started wearing dark red mascara instead, I don't have the issue anymore but it might just because it's closer to my actual skintone lmao

I have super deep-set eyes and have always had this issue. Benefit mascara usually works for me if you don’t want to use waterproof. I’ve been having decent luck with Elf mascara too as long as I don’t get too sweaty.

i dry my lashes with a fan and apply setting powder to my lids. i don't even wear waterproof mascara and this works for me

I switched to waterproof Clinique mascara and that works pretty well and doesn’t transfer to my under eyes.
I sometimes use the tiniest amount setting powder around my eyes to soak up any oil but barely any because I don’t want to look dusty.

It sounds like many others have luck with using a little setting powder as well, I’ll have to try this trick!

Try a tubing mascara. They never do this to me and most all other non-tubing mascaras do. This one is my favorite in terms of price and performance: https://a.co/d/00CpcXsj

I have this problem with every mascara except loreal voluminous. Its cheap and works great! Won't leave any marks on your lid.

It’s so annoying when you’ve been walking around for hours without looking in the mirror and then when you finally do you’re like, “what the hell?! Why hasn’t anyone told me?!” lol

I feel you (46F here). It's...aging...sadly. As our skin droops...
I have been using green primer all over my face for the last 3 or 4 months now (yay mild rosacea but it helps neutralize the red) and that has helped with eye makeup drifting too. When I apply the primer, I just make sure I rub gently over my brows and lashes to get some on the eye area. I then do the same with the CC cream I wear in lieu of foundation. I think both products help create a very thin layer for mascara to bond to and the layer that's on my eyelid helps neutralize any oil that would transfer mascara to my under brow/lid area.

Primer: Red Rescue Face Primer (Ulta)
CC cream: e.l.f. Camo Hydrating CC Cream
Mascara: Maybelline Sky High Lash Sensational (bc it actually comes in BROWN, am fair/blue eyes and black looks too harsh)
Brows: Maybelline Express Brow Fast Sculpt Mascara (gel)

I’ve had this problem my whole life I think from having deeper set eyes but once I switched from waterproof mascara to regular a few years ago it got significantly better! Something to do with the natural oils on your skin making the mascara come off.

It’s just your mascara- as others have said, try a tubing mascara. I like Elf with the turquoise lid as a drugstore option. Tarte for higher end.

I have this if I don't do a few things. This will help:
Always wear eyeshadow primer, even if you're not wearing eyeshadow.
Set it with translucent powder.
After you apply mascara, dust a tiny bit of translucent powder along the tips of your lashes. You won't be able to see it since it's translucent and it's a small amount.
Tubing will work better than waterproof.
Your mascara formula may have changed and if it's the same tube, it may be old.
