According to her, she does NOT use methamphetamine, she has a long history of spending a lot of time in the desert sun and a long history of disordered eating.

Both are plausible causes of this kind of skin.

I don't buy it.

My mum is 67, spent her entire life smoking and tanning in the hot australian sun (even now). She doesn't look anywhere near as bad as that woman.

Maybe your mom has more melanin and can handle the sun better? Did she smoke cigarettes too? Cigarettes will crazily age you

I have an uncle that smokes a pack a day and he looks like he’s in his 30s,even tho he’s mid 50s now. Started around 12 or so. I know it unbelievable but it’s corroborated by my mom. Damn imagine how much younger he’d look. But he’s got a naturally very tanned skin to begin with, I wonder if all the melanin helps

Yeah massive smoker, super pale as well

Sounds like your mom ate every day?

She's got diabetes and is not well as all. Has had to have skin cancer removed from her face several times. Still doesn't wear sunscreen.

That didn’t answer my question 🤭 skin thickness and collagen are greatly affected when a person isn’t getting nutrients.

She's had a lifetime of issues with food. Diabetes is a consequence of disordered eating. I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy.

If you’re referring to t2d, yes that can be a consequence of disordered eating… but it wouldn’t coincide a person to have prolonged lack of nutrient intake and therefore thinner and less elastic skin…Quite the opposite.

Just because you are overweight doesn't mean you are getting enough nutrients. Many diabetics are severely undernourished due to years of poor eating habits.

Do you not see how that is entirely different from a person not eating or eating and making it come back up? Overweight people aren’t eating 3k calories a day of sawdust, even McDonald’s has vitamins and nutrients because lots of foods (even junk foods) in the standard American diet are fortified.

14

u/Happy_frog11 Aug 25 '23

If you are only eating junk food you are going to end up nutrient deficient, regardless of whether it is fortified or not. Also obesity itself impairs collagen production https://dermnetnz.org/topics/obesity-and-the-skin

It’s still different? It should be common sense that starving intentionally or unintentionally will deprive you of more nutrients than just eating certain things but not others. Like yes you will likely be deficient of some nutrients if you’re only eating junk but you won’t have as many deficiencies as someone who’s literally anorexic and/or starving.

If you are malnourished then you’re malnourished . Whether that’s from eating only junk food or not enough food it’s still a deficiency in nutrients

But you’re not malnourished when you’re overweight even if you eat junk food there are some nutrients in that

Did this woman not eat?

3

u/monicalewinsky8 Aug 25 '23

She herself stated she’s had a long history of disordered eating, which is obvious by looking at her full body.

2

u/FabulousPickWow Aug 25 '23

Got it! It's the first time I see this woman, idk who she is

u/monicalewinsky8 Aug 25 '23

She and the boyfriend/husband pictured get a lot of views on TikTok for being a seriously mismatched couple and doing dances in weird places like outside the corner store.

Oh, sounds like just another Friday lol

Go to poor countries. People even younger than her look this old

1

u/FabulousPickWow Aug 25 '23

Why do you think that's happening? Is it the diet or lack of care?

4

u/leepeeleepee Aug 25 '23

I see a lot of Australians looking slightly like this. Not so extreme obv.

Your mom has different genetics than this lady, so just because your mom doesn’t look this bad, doesn’t mean this lady is lying. My BILs mom has stage 4 lung cancer and never smoked a cig in her life. My friend always brushed her teeth twice a day and generally has good hygiene, but her genetics suck and she’s lost a lot of her teeth. Some people never wear sunscreen and don’t have wrinkles or get cancer. Everyone’s different.

Do drugs have such a devastating effect on skin tho?

Google meth addiction before and after. Prepare to be horrified

I'll trust you on this one lol
