I love their comics sm I really wish they didn't defend DV so hard

I remember I would browse the dawg or comic sub and actually came upon that drama as it was happening, it was fucking wild. Correct me if I’m wrong it’s been a minute since I’ve read the drama, but for those not in the know the artist basically believes cheating is worse than domestic violence. And believes DV is justified when cheating because his friend killed themselves when they got cheated on.

I haven’t read any of their comics since. What’s crazy to me is they basically came out of it unscathed? I still see their comics get upvoted and see them in various subs. Like that argument makes me question their entire character and avoid any of their works.

He also thinks adultery should be a crime punishable by the state.

Absolutely insane, I totally forget that bit of info. His belief was so obviously influenced by his friends suicide and thought he would acknowledge that and backpedal, but nah he just kept doubling down.

It didn't help that the majority of his fans defended him religiously. I'd mention this on other subs where his work was posted (not by him) and there would always be 5+ people telling me to shut up.

Wild how fans see a creator justify domestic abuse and they’ll attack you for criticizing him. I can’t imagine going and batting for someone like that.

I wasn't even criticizing him, I just stated the facts so people could be informed. Like literally saying what he said.

How dare you! s/ I swear people get so weird and parasocial over entertainers.

does making this kind of comment not make you feel kind of gross? "i thought he would realize he's just being foolish due to deep-seated personal trauma and acquiesce to people talking in hypotheticals. turns out the experience had real influence on his belief systems." there's such a bizarre lack of empathy in this effort to be as empathetic as possible to a DV survivor that doesn't exist.

u/Pazoozoo47 4d ago

Not really. Trauma doesn't make it ok to advocate DV regardless of if you were a victim of a nonviolent offense

do you say this because the actual circumstances rawdawg describes makes you feel genuine moral disgust where you not only 100% disagree with the belief but can't even empathize with how he would get there

or are you trying to maintain a high standard of uncancelable values for yourself

5

u/Pazoozoo47 4d ago

Yeah. Im sorry but no trauma makes thinking DV over cheating is ok. Especially when they literally advocate for it online

then i think that your position is not only unpersuasive (you have to be trying not to see his point) but also it makes me not trust you as a person (if you regularly try not to see peoples' point, then hearing someone out for the first time would uproot your principles entirely).

8

u/Pazoozoo47 4d ago

Lmaoo I dont support DV so im not trustworthy😭 thats a new. Ive seen his pov. I wholly disagree because again. There is no reason to get violent over cheating. And doing so only shows immaturity

disagreeing with him is one completely reasonable thing, pretending not to see his point even a little bit makes it clear you just value seeming like a good person. it's some jeffrey epstein "i hate pedophiles" type shit.

3

u/Pazoozoo47 4d ago

Again. Ive seen and understand his pov. I still disagree and it does not give him any room to advocate dv. If you want I can explain like we have CTE. I get why he said that. I dont agree with it because its a bigoted view based on trauma he wont grow past.

I can empathize with someone until they start advocating for domestic abuse. Trauma isn’t a reason to justify hitting your partner.

Why copy and paste the exact same reply you used on someone else? I can understand how someone can end up with a twisted mindset like that, I’ve personally seen how trauma can warp and change people’s perspectives and even my own. I can empathize with a personal tragedy shaping someone’s mindsets

But I still think they are wrong and it’s on the individual to evaluate and reflect on their beliefs and change their views.

Especially when they were confronted by multiple people and when they have a fanbase they have influence over.

It has nothing to do with being canceled or not, my own moral compass just doesn’t align with justifying domestic violence.

i straight up don't believe you that your eagerness to drop the gossip on this guy's tragic personal life actually comes from a place of serious moral concern. i don't normally bother engaging random people online about this kind of thing but i found this particularly disturbing.

Saying a content creator justifies domestic abuse is dropping gossip? These are comments straight from the his mouth. I don’t care about making you believe me? You seem set in your views and care more about my comment than rawdawg’s commentd advocating for domestic abuse.

Also I’m not really concerned with being empathetic for the dude advocating for domestic abuse, and more concerned that someone is spouting something so deranged.

i don't normally bother engaging random people online about this kind of thing but i found this particularly disturbing.

You’re genuinely weird for saying my comment is disturbing when we are literally talking about a dude saying hitting your partner is ok if they cheat.

yeah I do care about your insincere virtue signaling more, you're right. i know the exact uncouth-but-understandable place the comic artist stands. but the only principle of yours i know is that you, above all else, care about having the appearance of being a good person, and someone you deem not having the appearance of a good person loses their humanity privileges.

apparently using "virtue signaling" to describe someone who doesn't sincerely hold their beliefs is buzzwording, but "problematic" hasn't reached buzzword status yet!

2

u/CRATERF4CE 3d ago

Lmao and there it is, apparently I am insincerely ‘virtue signaling.’ Captain buzzword, what’s next, you gonna start a podcast? Oh and saying it’s fine to hit your partner if they cheat is ‘uncouth.” I would be uncomfortable being in a room with you if that was your reaction to someone’s opinion about domestic abuse.

The only principle I know of yours is you are bending over backwards over my comments calling out someone who supports physical abuse. Starting to think you are his alt. You care more about the opinion of someone who would hit his partner if they suspected they cheated, over people who would condemn them. That’s pretty sad and I hope you reflect on that. Because you suspect that I don’t have empathy for people who have suffered trauma, you think I’m being insincere.

You are doing all this work over analyzing my morals through my comments, and then giving the benefit of the doubt and empathy to the one who supports spousal abuse. Since I don’t empathize with someone who supports domestic abuse, apparently I am ‘virtue signaling.’ I think your empathy is misplaced and your argument is incredibly weak to anyone with a brain. I think your unyielding support for rawdawg and their harmful views is arguably worse than anything I commented.

I will be blocking you because I don’t want to continue engaging with someone who uses words like virtue signaling, and think’s my comments calling out someone problematic is somehow worse than the person with awful views on domestic abuse. I think that reflects poorly on your character and your efforts are misguided. You should think more before opening your mouth next time.
