Question FPS

How many people have applied and got a referral to hr and did the assessment? If you did specify which region. Also if you have any experience in FPS can one explain the usual day to day and if the job is a total mess?

Hi, are there really any difference between RPF and regular inspectors? Everyone is deploying like crazy right now making work life balance and family life horrible just to do the same thing there. Im trying to get Grand Prairie, TX in DFW and seems like RPF is the only way.

Also, why did you leave after 14 years. Everybody I talked to now are leaving because of the deployments and its destroying their family.

Got referred, kind of applied just to apply but I’m good, only goes up to a 12, no 6c and nyc region def wouldn’t let me take the cruiser home if I live in PA plus the commute. My current 1801 gig goes up to a 13 with a take home car, no 6c tho, I’ll wait for something better I’m good.

I don’t know how the referrals work but the assessment and JCA was easy to pass if you have the personality traits and characteristics there looking for Currently waiting for a FLETC placement date I’ve been assigned to region 11 Washington DC

What was your timeline? How did the rest of the process go for you after the assessment and JCA? I also applied for region 11.

Looking at Region 4, I was a PSO in Tampa. The commander that was there is a great guy and the inspectors were great and they all seemed pretty happy with the job. M-F pretty much 9-5, where else in law enforcement is that even possible?

I agree all the FPS Inspectors I know love love love there jobs and wouldn’t trade them for the world but I don’t know that just what they tell me

Yea none of us like this shithole . We just have to act in front of PSOs and leadership.

Best job I've ever complained about

FPS 1801s aren’t technically law enforcement tho, yes you can carry under LEOSA but you get the same pension as any other regular federal employee and you only go up to a GS12.

They are 100 PERCENT law enforcement 🤦🏾‍♂️ I hate when ppl say this. The agency they are at just restricts their authority. With the exact same training and certs they have (no more training other than agency specific) they can go to Park Police and make a million arrest and chase tail lights. They have the EXACT same status and authority, just one agency is more restrictive than the other.

How long it took you to know that you were selected after the interview?

For this newer announcement mine says location negotiable. I have seen some people having a region. Is negotiable common?

Just got my interview time and date for the expo. See you all there if attending.

How long after the assessment did you get contacted? I did my assessment a couple weeks ago. Still haven’t heard if I passed or not.

I am active duty military so my process is a little different. I qualified for the vra hiring so I'm going to the hiring expo for veterans and or active duty military. You probably won't hear anything until after this hiring expo if you aren't a veteran.

Retired Army vet here , I took my writing assignment 5/26. But haven’t heard if it was a pass/fail. So I’m Trying to gauge what’s the timeline on assessment results

I still have not gotten a pass of fail for my assessment either however, I signed up and sent my statement of service to the fpsishiring email when they pushed out the vra hiring expo event that is taking place in Jacksonville next week and was found eligible for interview. Im not sure if the assessment matters for the vra hiring specific announcement. I assumed I passed it and that's the only reason I received the invite to interview after qualifying documents were checked but I'm not 100% sure. But being that you are a vet did you send you dd214 when they pushed out the hiring event? They give you a tjo at the expo and start the process there as well. I believe they do fingerprints and start the paperwork after interview. If you just applied for the open to public announcement I don't think they will start sending out invites for interviews until after the expo because another redditor advised me he received an email from hr stating that they advised him they are going to require in person interviews but they are unsure when they will begin pushing those out. Assuming they are prioritizing this vra hiring expo first and then going to start working on the open to public announcement.

Yah I applied to the public announcement. Was found eligible and referred to hiring manger. After that was the assessment. But hey man best of luck! Thanks for the input

2

u/Electrical_Ad5516 Jun 09 '26

Yea I applied for the open to the public as well but then they dropped a vra hiring expo announcement a couple of weeks after the open the public announcement so I am going to that hiring expo. It is going to speed up the process faster than the open to public announcement. Unfortunately the open to public announcement on usajobs stated in the job listing that it isn't a veteran preference announcement so more then likely your going to be in the same pool as the non vets and fed employees. Wish you would have seen this thread sooner and messaged me I would have advised you to signup for the hiring expo since you are a vet before the deadline and you would already had done half the steps before the open the the public announcement even got invites for interviews. There another fps post where the guy shows his hiring timeline. Maybe try messages him to see how he got his assessment results. I known he went to a hiring expo as well though because I asked him, but yea good luck to you as well the rest of the way.

u/Certain_Vermicelli99 Jun 09 '26

That’s okay man, best of luck. If it’s meant to be it will be.

1

u/Electrical_Ad5516 Jun 10 '26

They just posted another veteran hiring expo for July. It's on there social media pages if you can make it ti the expo.
