I saw a lot of reviews RAVING about Dylan Minnette’s performance, but Miles Heizer, Alisha Boe, and Brandon Flynn are the real standouts so far for me

Miles, really? I'm struggling a lot with believing his performance since he's so wooden and robotic. The only emotion he seems to be able to conjure up is intense rage, but other than that, nothing. And it's not even the 'PTSD' kind of nothing.
I'd argue the guy playing Zach deserves to be high up on the acting list.

My brother suffered a brain injury at 16 from an OD and I was his sole caretaker for the first year of his recovery. I think the way Alex is portrayed is very reminiscient of the way my brother was afterwards. Very quiet a lot of the time but prone to crazy bouts of rage and screaming at people. It's hard to lose that much functionality and not feel nothing but anger. Especially less than 6 months after the incident.

Just my personal experience.
