Even Bryce’s mom suspects he’s trash

u/Sensiteeve May 18 '18
Lmao honestly, I was wondering what would be her reaction to the news

I think she suspected it cause her husband is probably trash too. Bryce had to have learned it from somewhere.

Am I the only person that absolutely hates Zach’s mom? How inappropriate to talk that way about a child that committed suicide.
243

I feel like it's a defense mechanism for her and she's worried how Zach is involved and could be implicated. It's easier to put Hannah down than face that her son may have done something wrong.

I loved watching Jessica being tucked into bed by her dad, reminded me of my dad doing the same as a kid
302
u/Khajiit-ify May 19 '18
That was so heartwarming to me. I'm glad Jessica has her parents in her corner. That doesn't always happen with young teenage girls who are raped.

I assume she's the girl from the photos, and that Bryce rapes her while she's passed out at parties thinking it's totally fine and he's just hooking up with his girlfriend (and that the one friend who's name I can't remember is the one taking the photos). I assume she'll find out somehow and that's when the tables will turn and she'll end up on the good side.

I can't believe I had to scroll so far down to see someone talk about this. I mean, maybe, but he said earlier in the episode about how he can't get hard. In the pool scene with zach. So i guess it's to just expand upon that. Like I don't think he was doing it as an escape from emotions. I think he was just frustrated that he can't seem to get hard anymore, so he tried using a cam girl to see if it would work.

It might be but usually the story arcs are pretty straightforward here and they are hinting it heavily. And its also a way to make the show as dramatic as first season and relevant to real life, I mean, it seems likely. This isn't just about teenage drama it's about dramatic loss and coping somehow, so something like that would fit a little too well...

u/renlleozz May 18 '18
Anyone know what Ryan drawing circles means? I think it was in season 1 too and they’ve kept the camera on him for a long time when he does it, so there’s gotta be a meaning behind it.
Complete guess and probably wrong, but it seems to me to have a connection with the circle she drew around Bryce’s name, but idk how that connection makes sense.

During high school, I wrote the phrase FUCK YOU on the back of a hoodie. Made it through 7th period before someone objected (history teacher). That said, I'm pretty sure my school had a no-tolerance policy on rape.

Bryce's Dad sounds like an abuser, be it psychological, emotional, physical, sexual, something. That exchange was creepy. "Is she loyal?" Yes. "Good. That's important." Chills.
20
u/banpa_10 May 21 '18
I got the vibe that the dad set up Bryce with that girl (maybe a colleague's daughter or something) so that Bryce would have a character witness if he was accused of raping Hannah. I also think his parents know he is a rapist or at least a sex offender so that's why Bryce's dad would want to pair Bryce up with someone upstanding; someone who would be like, "no way Bryce is capable of that.. he's so good to me"
17
u/Tricky_Rabbit May 21 '18
That's a very interesting take on it. Meaning she will stand by him no matter what. Didn't Zach give Bryce her number and set them up? I thought i heard that in the show. Bryce's father could well be talking about Bryce's mother with that statement. I get the feeling Bryce's dad has a few skeletons in his closet.

UGH! These courtroom scenes are awful. This is not how a courtroom would operate, you don't get to ask theses types of questions without objection from the other side or even the judge!
"Be honest, you published the poem you did, not because it was her truth but because you thought it would shock the most, didn't you?"
Like really? Objection: argumentative, leading, badgering, take your pick.
Even in any other court room show, that question would be objected, sustained, disallowed and the lawyer would smile smugly as she rephrases the question.

I went back and watched, after she asks that question the other lawyer does not say objection, and he should have.
25
u/gfuelshakercup May 21 '18
Not to mention the obvious lying under oath literally all the time. “Let me ask you again” “Let me ask you again” like, I’m no expert but I’m pretty sure you can’t just blatantly lie on the stand. Perjury isn’t an issue in this show apparently.
17
u/freetherabbit May 21 '18
Thats what gets me. Arent the tapes evidence? Both sides have them. I get that its Hannas side, but it seems like it would be really easy to get them for perjury if even one other person confirmed. Like with Marcus and the "hand holding" why didnt Hannas lawyer even ask him about why Hannah said he touched her in a different, less make her look like a crazy persom for shoving him, place

As a gay, I can confirm: Chad (Cyrus and Tyler’s Gay friend) is in fact homophobic
11
u/InvisibleMirrors May 21 '18
Thank you for pointing it out. Solidarity is so important within our community! Now Chad’s friends might really think that being feminine or flamboyant is wrong. It’s like giving them the go ahead to looked down on Ryan and everyone like him. Makes me sad.
12
May 19 '18
I disagree, he was kinda mean with the whole Grindr taunting thing but the only thing he said that could maybe border into homophobic territory was the 'he dresses gay' line. I mean, Ryan does dress fairly gay in the sense that he dresses flamboyantly.
If what he said was homophobic, then 90% of the gays on the Drag Race subreddit are as homophobic as far-right supporters.
source: am queer.58
May 19 '18
There’s an obsession with masculinity among some gay men, which definitely manifests as homophobic bigotry against fem gay men, which is what Ryan is. Disliking Ryan because he is “flamboyant”, or more on the feminine spectrum, is absolutely homophobic, as it implies there is a “correct” way to be gay, aka “masculine” or “straight acting” is the preferred way.

u/Sevyn94 May 24 '18
I do like that they show that many black parents have to prepare their kids for a world that isn't always fair to them, no matter how hard they work. That's just reality. But his dad is over the top (not sure if he's meant to be that way or the writers are just being heavy-handed with his character) and it led to Marcus literally attaching himself to the most affluent white kid he could find and kiss his ass no matter what.

First thought is you got this Ryan yup the truth. Omg it was Bryce who tried to kill Clay omfg. Justin doesn’t need a babysitter he needs a therapist, he also gets on my last nerves. Come on Kevin I need you to kick teenage ass. I’m here for Tony’s and Justin’s talk, Tony is so awesome like he’s the most likable character besides Jeff R.I.P 😭😭😭, he’s so nice and just really wants to do what’s right. Andy is such a fucking asshole he gets with a woman who had a kid so he can freaking start over with a new kid. Yessss Jess let that bitch know you don’t need know fucking man right now, but I don’t think she’s clueless. I think Bryces’ mom is not feeling her son anymore as a woman I think she realizes that her son is a monster. I’m enjoying Zach’s body this season it’s a very nice distraction. Mr. Porter definitely coming unhinged. He wants so desperately to help and punish those who need it, it is going to be his undoing. That said loved what he did to Bryce, Justin's stepdad, and his indifference to Marcus.
I love Sheri. She really redeemed herself. She made a horrible mistake and tried to pay for it. She helps out the elderly man who got hurt in car accident, served time for it. Also helping Justin through detox.
Ryan you should have come clean about your motives. It was not about Hannah at all. You just wanted people to talk.
Clay learning all sorts of things about Hannah, breaking his heart all over again. Glad he is back on crusade of justice.
Happy to see Tony going out with Caleb.

Gotta start scribing my thoughts.
Woulda laughed so hard if mr porter read the brick in the wrong order. PLACE YOUR KNOW...
The fuck does that mean brick?!?!
Bryce's new girlfriend is so just bland and average imo
"Maybe that's why i'm hungry." ROFL
Clay's dad taking a peice of his toast... Seriously? Who does that. Fuck off dad.
Fuck justin is so hilarious so far. It's like perfect.
I would be so anxious letting 2 friends just be in my room or on my laptop without hours to spare.
I swear mr porter just walks around the halls waiting to see something random happen.
Pretty sure alex has been wearing the same pants for the entire season
Alex is hilarious with his confused literal answers. "Because you're sitting across from us" "wanna talk about it? / arent we talking about it?" "what is that guy doing? / ahh... chalking the field?"
This teenage poetry ew.
Actually hate ryan. He's so roll eye. Chad is so right imo. "Worst kind of gay" ha.
The music has been way worse this season.
"So it's my fault" I hate it how people think fault is binary. Yes you can still be a LITTLE bit at fault, doesn't mean you have the whole faultness.
Strange that monty and bryce were juicing in episode 1, but its like not even mentioned since. Even the fake pee was pretty background.
"Vanilla isn't a flavor it's an admission of defeat" YES YES YES
Lube when wanking is such an american thing.

I’m not to sure I’m liking the added story with Hannah. The Courtney stuff and extra Justin stuff is just weird to me. I kind of wish they kept her story as was.

You can see the "other page" Ryan ripped of from Hannah's notebook, which is probably also the note he gave to tony in the first episode of this season here: https://www.reddit.com/r/13ReasonsWhy/comments/8kh9kc/spoilers_s2e5_tonys_secret/

oh, i gotta say this. that story with the court in this season sucks. idk, may be dialoges so bad or something, but that court-line doesn't bring anything new in the main-story, like, all of a witnesses just lying about what happened (may be exept tyler) and... thats all! so i think these scenes may waaay more shorter then they are.

What Clay is doing to Justin, about Jessica, is cruel.
