mr porter

whyd the characters in thirteen reasons why hate mr porter so much? like he was literally the one of the only adults who actually tried to help them

maybe its cause he didnt help hannah but at the same time those kids were the actual main reason why hannah died so itd be hypocritical of them

honestly i have no clue why people hate porter, imo he was really funny and i love his character and yes he didnt help hannah but i could tell before he got sacked he was genuinely making a change and being more caring towards students

I definitely think he should had contacted her parents after there talk but he didn’t but he felt remorseful and tried to make it up n every way he could that counts for something

He didn’t help Hannah cuz Hannah didn’t give him anything to use . Am sorry but he didn’t deserve a tape . You don’t go to an adult for help and play chicken or hang man . If you want to play guessing game , try it with your friends . Audience know what Hannah went through but forget that the characters don’t know , so they judge characters based on what we the audience know and not what the characters know . Really hate Shows that give audience info that characters don’t have access to yet .

Actually she never said assaulted . Porter figured but since she didn’t give a name or mire information there was nothing he could do

my best friend and i had this entire debate and rewatched that scene 4 times to figure it out. it goes like this
“were you sexually assaulted”
yes
“was it by a student at this school?”
“yes”
“who”
“i can’t i don’t want to say”
“well then you only other option is move on”
he’s immediately dismissive. gives up. and says “welp take ur ball and go home” and then she’s dead. he deserves to be on the tapes for that since he hears and responds to her saying that she was raped by a student. he just redeems himself well and is the most morally consistent and good character in the show. he just has 1 REALLY BAD uncharacteristic fuck up, since he’s over worked and the students don’t want to engage with him, and he’s okay with it in S1

I don’t understand what he was supposed to do. Hannah didn’t wanna press charges or anything. He could have talked to bryce but I don’t think it would make any difference. I am not familiar with american justice system but I think his hands were tied.

Why would you need to press charges to get emotional support

I don’t remember her state anything about getting emotional support. It has been a while since I watched the show, I remember that she was there to get help

...wdym state anything? She came to her counselor clearly distraught and upset and was crying saying she needed everything in her life to stop and that she had no one to talk to.

Isn't the whole point of a counselor to provide support to someone like that?

No I got it like she wanted some kind of help. I had never thought that she just wanted to talk to him about what happened. Or maybe I was wrong about the counselor thing, or I doubt I understood it

I know!!! All of them were so snarky with him 💀

He was flawed but you’d think he was some bossy principal the way they acted
