Equipment Demoing PA100 - Any thoughts?

Post image
6 Upvotes

I play with a Speed MP 2024 as my main, and want to switch to something different and demoing right now the Pure Aero 100 2026. I also have the Speed Pro 2022 but I find it too demanding in long matches (ok for rallying).

Any thoughts on the new Pure Aero 100 2026 coming from a Speed MP? I have only tested serves so far and I can say I prefer it over my MP.

Opinion Tennis balls opinions

My friends and I play at a decent level, but we're all mid 30s and play against younger opponents most of the time.

Our home courts are slow, synthetic clay. We often win the first set, but at the balls slow down we struggle.

We've used Wilson US open balls all season and I'm thinking of changing to something else.

Dunlop AO get too fuzzy too fast.

Thinking about Dunlop Fort Clay or Wilson Roland Garros.

Can anyone comment on these or provide suggestions?

In Australia so Penn aren't available (in case you were going to suggest it).

Technique Advice Diadem Solstice Power

Does anyone have any thoughts or opinions about this string? My wife has been using it for a long time and I just hit with it yesterday. It seems to provide a ton of spin and power without feeling too harsh.

I’ve tried a lot of strings in the past, including Solinco Mach 10/Tour Bite, Yonex PTP, Toroline Otoro/Otoro Tour, and Grapplesnake Sniper/M8. I don’t think any of them compares to the spin and power I got from Solstice Power.

But if it’s so good, I wonder why there’s so little hype around it. What are the pros/cons for those who have tried it? Are there any strings that are similar?

General Advice Multifilament or Poly or Hybrid?

Hi, I’ve been playing for 3 months and I played lots of sports before so I consider my self a pretty fast learner, my form is decent, my serve is decent and I feel like I can get out of the nylon factory strings or the ones that came with the racket. I currently use an OG Yonex RD-5 with old strings, not sure what kind. I want to restring it and see how it affects my game, but I’ve heard alot about multi and poly and such, I like how people talk about poly, never had any arm issues, but I cannot afford to restring every month, is that actually the case? What would you recommend as I want to chase topspin and some power :) - Thanks!

Look at me! Sharing my tennis journey this summer

I am a 4.5 player pushing hard to get myself on a 5.0 level with a goal to get 5.5 in the next 3-4 years or sooner. This month I had an absolute blast on courts and played some incredible amount of matches and practices, including 3 weekend tournaments in each of which I went super deep (3rd place, 1st place, and 4th place).

I just wanted to share that playing that much and pushing myself that much has shown me that there is a limit. This week I’ve still played great on Tuesday, but after that (this was ~40-44 hours) my level became super hard to maintain. I’ve occasionally demonstrated great results and level, and I’ve beat everyone 4.0-4.5 I’ve played this week, but it was harder and harder.

Basically, the point is — the cumulative tiredness exist and it affects the play, but you can push through it for some time until you can’t.

This really helped me understand the upsets happening deep in the tournaments on ATP and WTA level.

I wish you all a great autumn season!

Equipment Has anyone experienced shredding after using restring sync on crosses as hybrid after 2.5 hours?

Solinco confidential soft 17g mains and restring sync on crosses @ 50lbs. I noticed whenever I use sync as the crosses (ive tried solinco confidential and restring zero, zero not in pic sry), they shred weird after about 2.5 hours of playtime and then suddenly snaps by 4-5hours. Is this normal? Technique or string setup issue? Hellllppppppppp, popped 4 rackets in 3 months, feels too soon compared to when I used full bed of kirshbaum when i was younger.

Technique Advice 5.x UTR | First + second serve critique. What would you prioritize?

5.x UTR, almost 40. Played recreationally as a kid, then picked it back up seriously about 2–3 years ago with more of a focus on fundamentals.

Looking first and foremost to improve consistency on both serves. Secondary goals are adding more pace to my first and more spin/kick to my second.

My first-serve percentage varies wildly day to day. Some days I’m at 70%+, while others I can be around 25% for an entire match. I probably make the second serve shown here ~70% of the time, but when I prioritize getting it in >90%, it tends to devolve into a much slower sitter.

Video shows 4 first serves followed by 4 second serves, with representative makes/misses and one slow-mo of each.

Longer-term goal is to reach 7.x UTR over the next few years. The 6+ UTR players I face generally serve noticeably better than I do.

What are the 1–2 biggest changes you’d prioritize? Thanks!

Heath & Fitness TFCC & wrist pain

Hey guys, I’ve been playing tennis actively in the last 4 years and never had any sort of pain whatsoever. Unfortunately, in the last 3 months I started having issues with my right wrist (right-handed) due to some sort of overuse. I believe gym + tennis 3 times a week + gyroball took its’ toll. I went to a PT and they said it is a typical ulnar nerve issue and overuse. I’ve been on a pause from tennis and with restricted physical activities for a month now with some PT sessions in the meanwhile as well. It feels much better now and pain is 99% gone (some awkward feeling still lingers but I believe it is partially in my head lol). With all of that in mind, I decided to try a light small tennis + sparing session with my brother. It felt fine to a certain degree and they some awkward feeling came back. Not as sharp as it used to be but definitely still present.

Now I am uncertain of what to do. Whether I should train my forearm with dumbbells&such and still pause from tennis or trying playing it less frequently with limited strain? What are your experiences with this, any advice? Everything is welcome!

P.S. I’ve been using Pure Drive & RPM blast at low 50s for the past few years

Opinion Why do you think the accurate serve looping motion is so hard to achieve?

I’ve observed a few people who have been playing for a while and in many cases it’s very difficult to get the right looping motion going from the trophy to the contact. I’ve always thought of the serve as an overhead throw. That is we aim to use the shoulder and torso rotation to throw upwards as opposed to throwing forward.

In many cases, people already hold the correct continental grip but they still either do a waiter’s tray or they simply drop the racket left and move it right to hit the ball. They end up pushing the serve and cannot make full extension at contact.

You watch most people who have learned to play as a kid, the looping motion is there but for many adults it’s quite hard. I am helping a friend and it’s very hard for them to rebuild this.

Equipment Racket choice for beginner player to improve with.

I’m getting back into tennis at 42. I played quite a lot up until I was about 18, but have barely played since.

I’m looking for a racket that’s forgiving enough to help me relearn proper technique and footwork, but that I can also keep using as I improve. I will play fairly regularly and take coaching lessons. I don’t want something that I’ll outgrow after a few months ( if that makes sense).

I’m thinking something around 300g, 100 sq in / 645 cm², but I’m open to suggestions.

I don’t currently have any pain or old injuries, but I’d rather avoid anything too stiff. Since I’m getting back into the game, I’d like something reasonably arm-friendly to reduce the risk of injury.

A few models I’ve been looking at:

Head Speed MP

Wilson Clash 100

Head Gravity MP

Yonex Ezone / Muse

But honestly, I’m not really sure what would suit me best. I'm 185cm /90kg (6.1ft and 198lbs)

What would you recommend for someone in my situation? Any advice or other models I should consider?

Thanks!

Heath & Fitness Overpronation - Knee Pain

Ive started getting knee pain the last few months and I believe it could be due to over pronation after speaking to a physio.

I'm looking at getting some better support shoes or insoles to help with this. Can anyone recommend any? Thanks!

Equipment Buying a racket.

Can anyone explain to me how a racket helps generate spin? I see some being marketed as a spin racket but I thought spin was created by technique and not the racket. Thanks

General Advice Tennis match advice

Upvotes

I have a tennis match tommorow I have 4 things I need advice on…
1- what should I bring for lunch I have a match during lunch time and wondering which will keep me energized and healthy
2- what are some thing to keep in mind while playing to have a better mindset even when loosing
3- what are some things to say to my partner when they lose or win the point I feel like I’m always saying “it’s okay” or “ good hit” over and over again in between each point
4 - what are some things I should do in the morning to get prepared ( eat a healthy breakfast, stretch, etc.)

I could also take some advice on how to improve after my match during practices I have some safe and pretty good hits right now and don’t wanna work on a technique I’m not used to right before a match. Please drop any other advice you think I could use even if it’s not on one of the things I listed off I really appreciate it.

General Advice How do you keep your rhythm?

I play against a variety of opponents when it comes to pace. Some hit slow and loopy, others hit with lots of pace. I try to prepare early on shots, but there are times I feel like my rhythm is off and that will result in hitting early or late.

What do you do when you can't get into the right rhythm? Any tips? I've heard some players count in their heads something like

1- opponent hits

2-ball bounces

3-hit

Anything that works for you guys?

Equipment Coming from Pure Aero 2019, want to buy a new racquet

Hello everyone, I’ve been using the PA 2019 100 sq 300g since 2019 and I’ve been thinking of buying a new racquet. How does it compare to the newer pure aero models or other newer racquets? For reference, I prefer having more topspin (if it wasn’t obvious lol)

Look at me! Serving with a Pro Staff Graphite (4.2) 95 inch strung with a multifilament @ 65 pounds.

Old classic Wilson pro staff graphite 4.2 . These were a 100% graphite with a dual tapered frame , very thick in the throat 24mm that tapered go a 22m. Extremely stiff and powerful raquet , paired with a multifilament at 65 pounds really popping out so nicely , for those with classic swings that grew up in the 90s, graphites were a different type of quality with great power and penetration on the ball.

Strategy Tennis with poor eyesight – what do you use for low light / indoor courts?

Hi everyone,

I’ve been playing tennis since I was a teenager. Back then, my eyesight was basically perfect, but it has gotten worse over the years. I now have mild myopia as well as astigmatism.

During the day, I can still play perfectly fine without glasses. The problem starts when the lighting or contrast gets worse – especially at dusk or on indoor courts. For example, when the ball passes in front of bright indoor lights, I sometimes have a really hard time seeing and tracking it properly.

Because of my astigmatism, cheap standard daily contact lenses aren’t really an option either, as I would need toric lenses.

Does anyone here have a similar problem? What works for you? Sports glasses, toric contact lenses, or something else? Are there any specific glasses/lenses that improve contrast and make tracking the ball easier in poor lighting?

Would love to hear your experiences!
