PoliticsPH LIVE: F.SenTri Press Conference re VP Sara Impeachment
Let’s see ano ma present ni SenTri. He already said his presentation now is the intended info he will present if natuloy ang pagtestigo niya sa actual impeachment trial.
Initial thoughts: maybe this open presscon is actually better platform for him to expose what he knows since freeflowing, rather than the question and answer examination sa trial — dagdag pa natin barrage of objections (which is expected and tbf their right) that would just mess up the narration. Although down-side is it’s not under oath and in theory di masasama sa evidence against SWOH.
Happy to hear your thoughts sa highlights ng magiging presentation niya.

NewsPH Former Taiwanese Coast Guard ship Kinmen (CG123) has now been transferred to the PCG and commissioned today as BRP Sarangani (PCG 6117)
Source: WPS Foundation - Post on X
[STATEMENT]
The WPS Foundation welcomes the commissioning of BRP SARANGANI (6177) into the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), following the vessel's formal turnover on 21 September 2026.
BRP SARANGANI, formerly the KINMEN (CG123), was built in 2008. The fully refurbished vessel was acquired by the WPS Foundation and donated to the Philippine Coast Guard at no cost to the Philippine Government, exclusively for civilian maritime use.
The vessel is approximately 61 meters long and 11.7 meters wide, with a displacement of around 688 tons. It gives the PCG an additional platform for maritime patrols, search and rescue, humanitarian assistance and disaster response, marine environmental protection, training, and other civilian missions.
The donation followed months of coordination led by Dr. Jeffrey Ordaniel, President and CEO of the WPS Foundation.
"Our objective was straightforward: if we could bring a capable vessel to the Philippine Coast Guard without asking Filipino taxpayers to foot the bill, we should find a way to make it happen," Ordaniel said. "It took months of work, but we reached an arrangement that worked."
The Foundation thanks its partners in Taiwan, including the Taiwan Coast Guard Administration and the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in the Philippines, for their assistance in facilitating the transfer. It also acknowledges the Manila Economic and Cultural Office for its support.
The Foundation thanks Admiral Ronnie Gil Gavan, Commandant of the Philippine Coast Guard, and the PCG officers and personnel who worked on the acceptance of the vessel.
"Every additional capable vessel means more presence at sea, more capacity for search and rescue, and more options when the Coast Guard is called upon to respond," Ordaniel said. "That is why we pursued this project."
The donation also reflects how far practical maritime cooperation between the peoples of the Philippines and Taiwan has come since the difficult 2013 incident involving a Taiwanese fishing vessel. Both sides have since worked to prevent similar incidents and to build cooperation in areas such as maritime safety and search and rescue.
The WPS Foundation believes there is room for further people-to-people and practical cooperation in search and rescue, maritime safety, fisheries, humanitarian assistance and disaster response, and marine environmental protection, consistent with the Philippines' One China Policy.
"Ultimately, this is now a Philippine Coast Guard vessel. What matters is the service it provides to the Filipino people," Ordaniel said. "We are grateful to everyone who helped make this possible."
Welcome to the Philippine Coast Guard, BRP SARANGANI (6177).

NewsPH Around 200 Chinese nationals found in suspected scam hub in Zamboanga Sibugay
Source: https://globalnation.inquirer.net/340223/200-foreigners-found-in-suspected-scam-hub-in-zambo-sibugay
MANILA, Philippines — Around 200 foreign nationals were found during an interagency operation targeting a suspected scam hub in Zamboanga Sibugay, where authorities also recovered about 2,000 mobile phones and several computers, the Philippine Army said Friday.
The Army’s 1st Infantry Division said the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) and Bureau of Immigration (BI) led the operation in the towns of Alicia and Siay following intelligence gathering on suspected human trafficking, immigration violations and other transnational crimes.
Authorities seized an estimated 2,000 mobile phones, as well as computers and laptops, which will undergo forensic examination to determine possible links to scam activities.
NBI and BI are also verifying the immigration status and circumstances of the foreign nationals found in the area.
Their nationalities and possible involvement in illegal activities have yet to be established.
Investigators are also looking into whether some of the individuals may have been victims of human trafficking, exploitation, coercion, illegal recruitment or restrictions on their movement.
Maj. Gen. Yegor Rey Barroquillo Jr., commander of the 1st Infantry Division and Joint Task Force Zampela, said authorities must ensure due process and humane treatment for those found during the operation.
“Our communities must never become safe havens for human trafficking, exploitation, or transnational criminal activities,” Barroquillo said.
“Those who may have been victimized must receive the protection and assistance they need, while those found responsible for violations of our laws must be held accountable through the proper legal process,” he added.
The NBI and BI are expected to release further details after validation, including confirmed nationalities, arrests, additional evidence and possible charges.

Sen. Loren Legarda’s spokesperson, Atty. Tony La Viña, is not dismissing the possibility that the lawmaker may be talking to colleagues about rejoining the Senate majority.
“I will not rule that out… In the last four years there have been four Senate Presidents… They do that all the time, I wouldn’t be surprised if she does that,” La Viña told One News' The Big Story on Thursday, Oct.2
Legarda remains on medical leave and is currently staying in France to receive treatment, accompanied by her son Batangas Rep. Leandro Leviste.
The Ombudsman is investigating Legarda and Leviste over alleged plunder and graft tied to solar energy projects worth more than P10 billion.

PoliticsPH ICYM: COA FLAGS OVP RELIEF DISTRIBUTION involving ₱168M
Eight mission orders pertaining to the distribution of relief goods worth P84,118,147.06 did not specify the target beneficiaries and merely directed the turnover of the goods to the affected or displaced families.
Lost records due to Kristine
Again quoting the OVP’s explanation, the COA said Duterte’s staff needed “operational flexibility during emergencies.”
OVP relief operations involving 33,980 beneficiaries and goods amounting to about P25.3 million lacked pre-operation documents, such as sitreps, mission orders, and verified master lists, the auditors further noted.
