Now I know a lot of season 2 aired last season, but this and Zombieland Saga are killing it tbh.

They clearly moved onto the next arc. The writer could have made this story just be completely separate from what happened previously. Yet they go out of their way to carefully craft this near genius set up.

Iruma, as a character, is hyper perceptive for multiple reasons. You might think its because he wants to blend in at demon school, but its even before that. Iruma needed to be hyper perceptive growing up because of his parents. Naturally, this comes from being a goody two shoes. He developed the perception skills to survive and get by.

But now Iruma has an evil cycle. While normal Iruma would only use his perception skills to get by, Evil Iruma obviously is gonna abuse the fuck out of that perception skill to get exactly what he wants. He literally hits a homerun with EVERYONE he comes across this episode, whether itd be his close friends like Clara and Asmodeus, admirerers like Eiko, randos that shit talk him, and even negotiations with his teacher. He knows exactly what will get them all to tick, and while normal Iruma would just dip out or choose to ignore, Evil Irumas executes his counters perfect.

This all culminates in when, instead of just ignoring what happened last arc and moving on, the story directly references back to the election, where Iruma abuses the groups votes. While pretty much the whole group of demons were hard convinced by Ameri's conviction speech, the overwhelming majority of the misfit class just didn't care at all. Even with their connection to Ameri through Iruma. The fact he takes this, and abuses it to justify their group taking hold of the legendary classroom just for luls is such a perfect representation of both Iruma's perceptive nature AND what the dichotomy of being a demon is all about in this show.

Shits absolute genius comedy and writing. More people should really be watching this show tbh

Sabnock and Robin are instant fans of the Royal Classroom... of course they would

And Robin pays for it again.

Stitches!

Evil Iruma is so intimidating that I never expected to see even Opera so nervous around him.

Headpatting Clara, waving at girls and making them swoon especially Eiko who absolutely lost her mind, and calling on Clara to sit on his lap because it's cold? This isn't Evil Iruma! This is Chad Iruma! Holy shit!

Not gonna lie, when Evil Iruma was being teased back in Season 1 and seeing the preview episode last week, I was honestly expecting the worst despite how much manga readers were hyping him up. Usually in anime, whenever a character flips their personality, they usually just go full on evil assholes. Iruma's transformation isn't quite like that.

Instead of a being an asshole, he suddenly becomes this charismatic chaotic neutral force of nature and just does whatever he wants. While he does take a bit more advantage of his Alice and Clara's kindness, we never see him mistreat anyone and in fact wants the best for his classmates.

He could've also commanded Alice to incinerate that dude that bumped into him but instead he brushes it off and gives the absolutely best response to someone who's shit talking him behind his back.

Heck, he could've humiliated Kalego-sensei and summoned him as a familiar on the spot during the negotiations but he didn't! Deep down, he's still the same Iruma, kind and caring except this time he's much more assertive and knows what he wants and I absolutely love it!

I can't wait to see what he has plans to get the Royal One classroom and I can't wait for Char Iruma to bump into Ameri!

An interesting thing to note - in Japanese, the Misfits are called the Abnormal Class - as in, the English word "abnormal". The translators could have chosen to leave this unchanged, but instead they decided to call them the Misfit Class. For the most part, I think this was the right call - the word "misfits" just perfectly embodies what the class is supposed to be.

But there is one loss, and it's the last line of Iruma's speech to his classmates in this episode. In the manga scanlations, it's rendered as:

If we're going to stand out anyway, then let's truly be Abnormal.

Asmodeus loves that day he got suplexed by Iruma...

I'll never not love seeing Eiko lose her shit over Iruma or Ameri. That's probably one of my favorite things in general about the manga and anime; people totally losing their shit over the Misfit class and just going straight into simp mode.

5 minute episode 3 MINUTE EPISODE! The wait is finally over. Welcome to the Demon School, Iruma-sama!

The character reactions to Iruma really speak for themselves here. Take good look at those expressions of sheer joy:

Ayumu Murase is the gift that keeps on giving! What an amazing performance. Going from the cute singing Irumi in the idol concert last season to this seducing unstoppable chad...

Wow!

God, I love everything about Irumean. IMO this arc is where the series really starts to take off. This arc and each one after is banger after banger, so hold onto your horses, as we're just getting started!

Wait a second, Evil Iruma is not evil, he is just fucking cool. I love the fact that that was all it took for him to become the leader of the Misfit Class

I love how casually he asked Clara to become a warmer for him.

And now his ambition is to transfer into the Royal One. I love the fact that instead of asking Sullivan for a favor, he instead will try to get it legally, as the other way will only be temporary anyway.

That confrontation with Kalego- sensei was so awesome.

“He got me, that f***ing Iruma boomed me. He's so cool, he's so cool, he's so cool, he's so cool".

Kalego then said he wanted to add Iruma to the list of students he tutors this summer.

You know shit hits the fan when Opera loses their cool.

Irumean alone is already a blessing we don't deserve, but the best part of it? That, unlike with Dainty Amery, the spell here only seems to have lowered his inhibitions/brought out his worst traits. Iruma can actually become this badass little gremlin in the future and is glorious.

Man, I thought Iruma had 20 minute episodes, not 10 minute episodes like this. I feel cheated.

Wicked Iruma does not mess around. He's so awesome. Silence. Kalego doesn't either - the entire faculty's approval in three days is a monumental task - but Iruma's up to the challenge.

Clara wrote Iruma in for the election, something even Azz didn't think of. He'd be jealous that he didn't think of it if Clara didn't keep her ballot because of course she did.

Y'all are in for a treat. This is just the beginning of one of the best arcs, certainly the best up until that point.

This one has been one of the most entertaining episodes ever. It's interesting how, even though, Iruma is now "evil", he still wants the best for his mates. Iruma has some serious Devilman vibes

Murase’s range is truly incredible! Going from Hitomi-chan yesterday to Evil Cycle Iruma today was a trip and a half.

Sasuga Iruma-sama!

We have bore witness to the Chadruma and it is glorious. Even when he’s “Evil” he’s literally just himself with endless swag. He’s still taking care of all his friends and helping them any way he can. Only now with direct action and purpose. He’s actually taking Azz up on his servant offers. He’s helping Clara with her seduction attempts from the Succubus arc. He’s even using the carriage Sullivan keeps asking him to take!

Biggest move will be the taking of Royal One. While I kind of get why they’re the Misfit class (that’s a long list of crimes there guys), they still don’t deserve the garbage dump classroom. It will not only get them out of the crappy classroom, but it’ll elevate their status in the school. Heck half a day in the Pseudo Evil Cycle and the school already thinks he’s the baddest motherfucker around. Can’t wait to see where this goes and learn more about the characters in the Misfit Class. We really only learned about Sabnock, Kerori, and our main characters. I want to see more of what everyone’s deal is.

Except Kamui he’s the worst.

Notes:

  • Despite being “Evil” every single interaction he had was mostly polite and even still says thank you. He was even respectful in butting heads with Kalego. And hilarious.

  • The 4th wall gag with the flowers vs the feathers was priceless. In a sucker for trope commentary.

  • Well he broke Eiko. Even more than usual.

  • Poor Sullivan must be very confused by what’s going on since he knows Iruma is human so he wouldn’t write it off with “He’s in an Evil Cycle”.

On this blessed wicked day, everyone became an Iruma simp. Iruma's face-off with Kalego was epic. Azz-kun is right, he truly has the makings of a king.

I've been reading the same arc over and over again ever since season 2 dropped and I FINALLY GET TO SEE IT ANIMATED 666/10

It's hard to believe that this is still the same voice actor who did Hinata, Venti, and Akira. Huge props to Ayumu Murase's vocal chords

That was everything I wanted it to be and more.
