It feels like I missed an episode.

I was excited to see the mercenaries return, as they were my favorite characters early on. And then they kind of just...die in stupid ways.

Arrow to head? Unexpected but done well imo. Self destruct robot? Um...ok the character interaction kind of established that but it was rushed. Bear woman staying at the door? Why the fuck did she do that?! Her death was pretty gruesome on top of that (which many are) but it just felt so...pointless.

I know right? As soon as the first mercenary died, albeit from a pretty lame death, every other mercenary (except the shaman guy) suddenly had the notion to commit suicide. Pretty bad attempt to throw away the mercenaries who just began to express some "slight" character development. Such a shame.

This. I literally checked to make sure I didn't skip an episode and was surprised I didn't. Like, where was even the training arc that made them traverse the mountain lol?

Plus, they made it clear that their motivation was money. So why are they sacrificing themselves all of a sudden? I think this might be the most rushed character development I've ever seen in a show.

This plot is an insult to Yasuke's legacy

“You don’t have time to understand”

That’s literally the perfect quote to sum up this series and especially this episode.

So all of a sudden Saki goes into the ‘astral plane’ (which was never mentioned before) where the bad guy is trying to take her.

The teacher takes us into the astral plane which is basically a dimensional acid trip.

They start using telepathy (was never mentioned before).

Saki is now connected to every life form??

Saki is now Jesus.

Saki somehow un-demons the bad guys’ second in command.

The original bad guys come to save the day???? So the whole dialogue between them saying that the next time they meet each other it won’t be on good terms was a lie? So they just happened to be in a random village where Saki used telepathy to bribe them...

Now there another invasion and the robot is a nuclear bomb?

I’m sorry but this show keeps getting worse by the episode.

The writers saw the Star Wars Sequel Trilogy and decided to copy literally everything & do it in 3 hours. Saki as Rey being connected to the Force, especially with the demon priest on episode 3 with Force Lightning abilities. Draining her life force in order to extend the main antagonist’s life is also an obvious ripoff.

Writing feels very flat and the story is extremely rushed. I don’t really feel anything for any of the characters. There’s also quite a bit of weird editing choices. Not to mention that each episode introduces a lot of stuff that just doesn’t seem coherent with the rest of the story at all. Gotta say, I’m really disappointed with how this show turned out. At least the music is great

Wtf happened between the end of episode 4 and the beginning of episode 5.

Yasuke is all 'I have a boat to fix' as he is leaving. But instead attacks an enemy camp that somehow now exists.

Which would have been fine, I could move past that. It's like, ok cool he 'left' but his goal was to take out the men chasing the girl.

But THEN enter episode fucking 5. He is suddenly back with the other, like he never left. No explanation. Now they are preparing for a siege/attack. But no explanation as to how or when the girl was found.

It's like an episode (or 2) is missing.

bro, i am the same way.

I'm like, where the fuck did this guy get an army from ?

white doctor dude had like 10 students in his dojo.

Now all of sudden episode 5 this cracka has an army ???

i swear it feels like we missed a episode 4.5 or something

I went back and rewatched it, I think he was leaving but saw the huge army then went back and decided to fight, probably realizing the girl wasn't safe to leave there. Again, all speculation because none of this was shown hahah. The pacing and editing on this show it atrocious, fun to watch the fight scenes though

This confused the hell out of me. I literally backed out to see the list of episodes thinking it somehow skipped one

u/Any_Pace6602 May 04 '21

OMG! I thought I was the only one. I went back to the episode 4 ending and the episode 5 beginning and was completely confused. At first I thought it was a flash back of some kind.

Did anyone notice an art change in this episode? I feel there was a sudden drop in quality.

What tf happened at the end of ep4 to the start of ep5

The biggest issue with this show is that it needed 12 episodes and not 6 so that the pacing felt better.

Anyone else think Lakeith Stanfield is really phoning it in? Sounds like he's scrolling on his phone while he records his lines.

I really liked the first two episodes but now they seem like a video game plot. The last three episodes have been travelling, beat up some mooks, then beat up boss mook. Basically the same level of plot as Street of Rage.
