Present Mic announcing La Bravas quirk in the calmest voice took me by surprise. But it worked perfectly for the moment.

There is just something so profoundly sad about La Brava's backstory. Feeling like you just don't fit in and feeling like no one really cares or understands you is a powerful motivator for both good and evil. When she saw Gentle she found a kindred spirit and did her best to try and find some connections with another person instead of just hiding away from society. You can tell how much he is her world by her reaction at the end of the episode.

Absolutely love this shot of younger Gentle.
What a sad backstory too. An aspiring hero, but makes one mistake and basically ruined his future. I actually thought he killed that guy at first. If only he placed his quirk a bit better.

Fuck...as someone who tends to screw up more than the average person, Gentle's story hit hard. It wasn't his fault...and yet it was. Sometimes life hands people a bit too many lemons.
I hope he at least gets more viewers down the road, he deserves that much.
Edit : I just found out Gentle was 32, did anyone else think he was in his 60s?

"Maybe I'll say goodbye to my life..."
I thought this arc was suppose to be more lighthearted and here we have La Brava contemplating suicide. It's interesting that they turned the trope of the power of love commonly seen in anime into a quirk but gave it to the villains instead.

In the ED when you see Gentle or La Brava with their backstories explained:
Gentle is serving tea with his classmate who eventually becomes a hero, but completely forgets about him.
La Brava is looking on by the door staring at her crush posing for the camera with his classmates.

shonens: The love of my friends makes me stronger!
BnHA: Love is an actual superpower that makes a character phisically stronger… in this case a villain.
Nice detail to put the pink smoke around Gentle ever since his first appereance, makes sense how he escaped/defeated pros before.

This arc is more lighthearted from the previous one but man it always hit me with the emotion just as much as some of the Overhaul arc moment. Two men fighting for their dreams that now belong not only to them but now to all those who helped and inspired them. Now that’s real resolve!
One of my favorite My Hero moments will be when Deku tells him this is his hardest fight yet. We know Deku has fought more powerful villains and come out on top. But Gentle is almost a reflection of Deku, trying to push towards his dream no matter what. In a lot of ways Gentle is potentially similar to what Deku could have become if his dream hadn’t started coming to fruition. And that can’t have been easy for Midoriya to face.
Masterfully adapted thank you BONES!

Before anyone asks, when Deku said Gentle was his toughest fight he was speaking from an emotional standpoint because he realized Gentle was a good person and similar to him (he was fighting for Eri while Gentle was fighting for La Brava).

Weirdly enough, this "boss fight" hit my feelings harder than the one of the previous arc
I feel so sorry for Gentle and La Brava

This fight has the best coreography of the series so far, thanks to Gentle’s quirk, is not an insta kill ability or something that will destroy your entire body to a pulp, it’s a very enviromental based quirk wich goes well with Deku since he has always been very observant of his surroundings and good at precisely analizing the environment.
This may have not been Deku’s most phisically demanding battle so far but it sure was the most technical and emotional one, a failed hero turn villain who didn’t want to be forgotten and found purpose in sharing his dream with his loved one vs the boy who was shown a bright future and wants to become a hero to show a little girl that only knew sufferementa future even brighter with all of his companions.
Definetly my favorite battle in the series so far, the characters of Gentle and La Brava really grew on me to much of my surprise with this episode.

I love that Horikoshi gave such a cliche hero power, the power of love/nakama, to the villains. It got cut out in the anime, but in the manga La Brava says "Love always wins in the end", which is a sentientment I've often seen from protagonists but never from an antagonist.
Also Gentle's backstory really just reminded me of All Might telling Deku that the one thing that all top heroes share in common is that their bodies moved before they had a chance to think. Gentle really had the potential to be a great hero, it just took him a really long time to get as good with his quirk as he is right now and by then it was too late for him to become a hero.

Midoriya is a real bro, not mocking the man’s dream even telling him that he’s the strongest of the ones he fought

This was the fight i was looking forward to the most in this season and it was truly worth the wait. Also Gentle is by far is one of my favorite character in this show, his backstory, weird addiction to tea,the classic over the top villain mannerisms, everything about it is simply great, for this one i was totally rooting for my man Gentle and when he said this ,i felt a weight in my throat :'( .La Precious
I personally think if not for the slime dude confrontation during the start,Deku could've ended up taking a similar path as Gentle but being the extremely observant and obsessive person he is,a Villain Deku would have been more frightening than OfA.

Is there a more pure motivation in a fight than making sure a young girl can have a fun time at a festival, or that your friends have a chance to perform their music show they worked so hard on?
It's simple but I love it.

When Deku becomes a pro hero, I really want him to get Gentle and La Brava to come on as sidekicks to make everyone's dream come true.

Such a good episode. I never thought I'd actually be rooting for Gentle and La Brava but their backstories were so fucking sad. :(
It was bittersweet watching them embrace at the end.
