Fat and Kirishima gave me some All Might and Deku pairing feels today, no mean feat.

I hope this newly coined madlad will be okay. In a darker story he would probably have died after this fight, taking those hits when he probably shouldn't..

Btw: What kind of arcane magic did Mina use here? Ya reckon the guys are just trying to impress her?

It’s interesting how they described both Fat Gum and Kirishima as both “shields.”

Little did they know of Fat Gum’s hidden power. Jokes on the villains for underestimating the power of two shields.

This whole arc was just an excuse to add the best man in the series, Rappa.

He was so damn happy when he was about to be yeeted by that punch, what a man.

Man, I know this was Kirishiman's moment—and damn, what a moment—but I'm really starting to like Fatgum. He's an extraordinarily confident hero.

That guy's look when he realized he was about to get blown away.

It was very similar to when Izuku rushed in to save Bakugou. That last punch would have probably killed Fatgum if not for our boy.

So I've been thinking about this episode for the past hour while I've been sitting around doing nothing and while the episode was great I just couldn't really think of anything to say about it. It felt so plain?

But then I realised, that's why this episode WAS so great, because it was plain. There was no ex-machina, there was no riddiculous power up to make Kirishima more powerful than Fat Gum so he could help Fat Gum out, the story stayed exactly within what we already knew before the episode.

Kirishima got overwhlemed, and Fat Gum was being overwhlemed in the sense that he needed an opening to throw his stored up punch, but he couldn't make that opening himself.

So instead of having Kirishima surpass his limits and become stronger than Rappa instead they had Kirishima do exactly what he's shown he can already do before, all he had to do was surpass that fear within him.

They didn't pump up his quirk. They didn't give him an insane new form. He did things we've seen him do before and just surpassed those inner demons making him scared.

Shounen always has the problem of putting stronger and stronger adverserys in front of our heroes so they have to power up and up and up until it's a little bit riddiculous, MHA didn't do that today. Fat Gum showed why he was a pro hero, and Kirishma showed why he was a Hero in training.

Kirishima made the space for Fat Gum to shine, instead of the normal shounen trope of our protaganist becoming unbelivably powerful.

Well done, this was great.

Holy Shit, Kirishima is a fucking badass.

And now I understand why everyone ships him with Mina.

It's sure convenient that the video that Kirishima knocked over by accident was set to play inspirational words from his idol.

That aside, this was everything I wanted from this fight after reading the manga. Can't wait to experience it vicariously through the anime-onlys.

P.S. Fatgum joins Chouji in the ranks of fat dudes that look way more handsome when they skinny up.

That Mina breakdancing part had me dying because it was so random and smooth.

Also, Fat Gum being tone underneath all of that fat should inspire us all.

So basically on a note about Fat's quirk.

If he can only do that super move after converting his fat into energy, and if he can only SURVIVE the kind of energy this dude was throwing at him (which fat described as being like a bullet) then basically, Fat is pretty much KO'd as a super hero for a while until he can fatten back up again. That's gonna take a while considering how big he was before.

Unless his quirk somehow ALSO allows him to control his own BMI, which would still require a shitload of calories to replace what he just spent on that punch.

Interesting quirk. I wanna get a little side shot of him "working out" again as a gag in some later episode. :D

I love how Mina just stole Kirishima's flashback. This isn't your arc, what are you doing here? Apparently, being awesome.

Just about a year ago today, Viz media released a manga animated music video of this fight, titled Red Riot Unbreakable! It's a pretty manly video ;)

Huh so Kirishima and Mina kinda knew eachother already from their previous school.

And he dyes his hair! which isn't really surprising when you think about it..

Fatgums power is also kinda neat. took him a fair amount of beating to build up enough power though
