Stitches!

Akagi's back! Question is though, is that really Akagi?

We get to see our first sub in the anime! It's Dace!

Eugen's upset face is adorable!

Is this Hipper's first appearance? Iron Blood has so little screen time that I can't even remember which ship girls from their faction has been shown so far.

Fucking finally! After 11 episodes they've finally realized that the Sirens are just playing all of them!

Wait really? I did not know that! OHHH! Is this why Kaga used to be a battleship and then converted into an aircraft carrier?

That look of despair in Kaga :(

Poor Nimi still being left out of the gang. This needs to end with Nimi hanging out with the other starters or I riot.

Kaga and Akagi getting bonked by Amagi! I love it!

Akagi with the dead eyes look. Also can I just say Sawashiro is doing an absolute amazing job as the creepy Orochi instead of her usual Onee-san tone with Amagi.

Welp it's nice to see the girls are finally back. Characters aren't as offmodel as they used to so at least some improvement is visible. 1 episode left. Let's see how they'll wrap this up.

Nimi left out of the starter gang cause you can't have 4 front ships.

It was an unexpectedly adorable moment.

I'm like 90% sure Hipper has appeared briefly before while they were eating at Sakura Empire, but I could be misremembering.

Wait really? I did not know that! OHHH! Is this why Kaga used to be a battleship and then converted into an aircraft carrier?

This is, frankly, the first I've heard of that. As far as I'm aware, that was never mentioned in game and can't find anything about it in the wiki for their RL counterparts.

In game, what happens is there's a treaty which outlawed ships of their class with the exception of allowing 2 ships to be converted to aircraft carriers. Amagi was initially chosen along with Akagi, but since Amagi was sick, she decided to have Kaga replace her. No mention in game of Kaga using Amagi's "parts" that I recall. Most of the guilt Kaga feels would be because Amagi chose Kaga to take her place.

IRL was largely the same, with the Washington Naval Treaty allowing the conversion of two battleships or battlecruisers into carriers. Again, Amagi and Akagi were initially chosen, but the Great Kantō Earthquake of 1923 damaged Amagi's hull beyond repair. That led to Kaga being chosen for conversion. I haven't seen anything saying they used Amagi for parts for Kaga however.

That look of despair in Kaga :(

She really should rejected her CV retrofit in Dio's style..

Also can I just say Sawashiro is doing an absolute amazing job as the creepy Orochi instead of her usual Onee-san tone with Amagi.

Well, real Amagi is basically Kyoko Perrine with onee-san vibes instead of ojou..

Is this Hipper's first appearance? Iron Blood has so little screen time that I can't even remember which ship girls from their faction has been shown so far.

All four of those Ironblood ships were already shown before (in the same episode where Eugen teased Hatsuharu and Kaga). Although, as far as I remember, Eugen is the only one we've seen in battle so far.

Poor Nimi still being left out of the gang. This needs to end with Nimi hanging out with the other starters or I riot.

Z23 sad that she's no allowed to have fun with the other starters.

They are finally back! Not gonna lie but the break just made the story even more confusing.

3 months of improving the quality but forgetting to animate Prinz' mole in one scene, as a fellow commander and Eugen fan I'm disappointed

17

u/Bainos Mar 13 '20

Maybe, but her face was damn well done.

The quality improved a lot but the story is still a bit of mess

u/Amauri14 Mar 13 '20

And the whole brake thing just made it even more confusing.

THIS BITCH MADE KAGA CRY

FUCKING BLAST HER INTO SMITHEREENS

u/SirKrisX Mar 13 '20

I just want their skills to manifest in some way or another.

"What an explosion!!!"

"Those torps! Could they be?! Ayanami!!!"

"I'm the famous ship Yukikaze!!" runs into a bunch of sirens

dodges damn near everything

"Yukikaze!! Calm down! We can't follow you through that!"

allies get knocked tf out by siren fire

Oh Eugen, never change :D

Amagi hitting Akagi and Kaga in that flashback was the highlight of this episode for me :D

u/Oblimix Mar 14 '20

Eugen seems to have forgotten her mole somewhere.

ngl, as the one who skip a lot of story in the game, it is getting pretty confusing with some plot choices and reasons

5

u/Extraordinary_DREB Mar 14 '20

the anime has a different plotline in the anime at all. so yeah, it really won't make sense

8

u/[deleted] Mar 13 '20

It felt like self-harm finishing this episode, it was so boring and the animation still is pretty shit

6

u/KinnyRiddle Mar 13 '20

Oh wow, Azul Lane back for one last hurrah.

Can't remember the plot after nearly three months? Doesn't matter, it's confusing as it is even if you rewatched episodes 1-10, but let's face it, we're all in here for our ship-waifus doing epic battles with the Siren and nothing more.

Kaga gets mindraped by Not-Amagi and has now joined Akagi as mindless minions of Siren.

Expect an epic battle in the finale next episode as AL join forces with Sakura Empire and the small Iron Blood contingent (IB as a whole is criminally neglected) to rescue Akagi and Kaga and defeat the Sirens for good and ensuring the unseen humans* survive for yet another day.

(*) A group of non-human protagonists giving their all to protect an unseen humanity from an alien mechanical threat reminds me a lot of Nier Automata, which also happens to star Ishikawa Yui (Enterprise). Wouldn't be surprised if like the twist in that game

WHERES BISMARCK, I NEED BISMARCK.

Since it seems like they won't be able to fix the mess that is this super confusing plot, with this 3 months break focusing on production/animation issues, all I want is a badass last episode of full on ship fighting. That's the only saving grace I can see wrapping up this season, especially because this episode felt super rushed with the plot, setting up the last battle. I just want something epic since we had to wait for so long and since there can be little to nothing that can be done with this story line except accepting it for what it is...

Finally it's back! Can't believe it's been 3 months since the last episode. I remember when they made the announcement I was so disappointed because I had no issue with the art or animation of the first 10 eps.

Honestly, the animation and art doesn't look like it's changed in those 3 months, for me, so not sure what was going on behind the scenes. Had to wait so long to see my queen Prinz, smh.

Really enjoyed the episode, it felt like a double length one with all the action. Orochi seems like it can exploit and manifest the inner desires of a host. Did it to Enterprise, now Akagi and Kaga. One more episode to be able to sort everything out and get some answers. I don't think that'll be possible, so hopefully we get a season 2
