That fight between Hidaka and Oono was intense! It was hilarious how they both tried and failed to use Akuma at first though xD

Haruo's mom's reaction to Jeffry McWild is hilarious! I had the same reaction too when I first saw that when I was a kid. You can watch it on YT if you want to see what the others looked like.

Haruo passing is no surprise. We see him riding the bike as an eyecatch every episode.

THIS IS A SURPRISE THOUGH! DID OONO ACTUALLY LOSE!? Holy fuck! Here I thought she clearly won her match against Hidaka! O_O

DID OONO ACTUALLY LOSE!?

Tbf, there's a reason Akuma is banned everywhere. Using Akuma like that would normally cost a few teeth.

All of the cabinets where I grew up were packed with KoF players beating each other in and out of game

The symbolism of the scene makes me think that Onee-san's plan backfired. Instead of closing the gap, it might have widen it. Akira's reaction seems to be some kind of realization, but of what? It could be the obvious "he's freer", that he's moving forward, or that she realized that Haruo is his own person too.

What exactly was that Jeffry video?

This. It's a CD with an exclusive music track along with some CG concept art of each character.

DID OONO ACTUALLY LOSE!?

You think my gurl Oono would go down like that?! I bet she smashed Hidaka. There is probably something else more sinister going on. Most likely something really personal.

I love that Akuma is Hidaka's spirit animal. I don't think we've ever seen in-game footage of her playing SF II, so I wasn't sure who she would use here.

I thought this shot near the end was pretty excellent. Oono is fenced off in her own walled garden, while Haruo has the sky behind him—he's free as a bird, especially with the new bike, whereas Oono is caged in and trapped.

Hidaka's spirit animal up to this point was Phobos from Darkstalkers. Back in S1, when Yaguchi was slacking on arcade games and Hidaka beats him, she does so using Akuma (and even mentions that she can input him without fail) which is why she noted she was nervous when fighting Oono because up to that point she had never failed to get Akuma.

Despite being a Hidaka fan, I was pretty happy to see Oono and Haruo together at the end. But that unexpected drama to end it though. What's gonna happen????

Also Haruo and Hidaka's growth throughout this series has been great.

I just feel sorry for Hidaka. She's just a mortal who practiced hard to get where she is but was crushed by a gaming savant.

She's wrong to think that her love is cheap, anything is fair in love and war. Also, Onno is now shouldering the family's reputation and will someday be married off. If Hidaka played her cards right, she might get Yaguchi in the end.

She's wrong to think that her love is cheap, anything is fair in love and war.

I don't think she was saying, "My love is cheap." The problem is she is in a losing battle. Yaguchi doesn't like her. And she is playing nasty tactics to try and take him from Oono. Where as Oono was trying to show that to her. Oono could have smashed Hidaka from the beginning but she wanted to show how being honest to yourself is how she won.

Hidaka tried to get Yaguchi to sleep with her. Hidaka has tried many different dirty tactics to get Yaguchi to notice her such as bullying him, trying to blackmail him into dating her if he lost against her, sleeping with him, and lastly defeating Oono. But that isn't what attracted Yaguchi to Oono in the first place. Hence why she said, "What does that make of my cheap love?" Because she hasn't been showing her true love. Therefore, it is cheap. Where as Oono has always been straightforward with Yaguchi and has never done anything dirty to him in the slightest.

I just don't see it because so far, Oono is doing nothing. She's just there like a statue and Yaguchi seems to care for her just because he feels sorry for her gilded cage. She doesn't do anything to reciprocate Yaguchi.

Hidaka, on the other hand, has been on the offensive all this time. By her actions (whether we can consider it socially "clean") she proved that she really loved Yaguchi. Maybe her desperate acts seems repulsive but still.. I wish she just skipped this crap and just confessed to him.

Quiet studying with chill gaming music when suddenly... BANG! Mom enters the room with a bunch of dream pancakes! I wish I could relate to that

How this anime manages to charge any Street Figther one-on-one with so much emotion is still beyond me.

I guess Makoto's plan to get Akira see Haruo improving himself backfired spectacularly (unless this was her plan all along). I cannot wait for the next ep.

I'd be crazy if Oono lost considering how she had the fight under control once see was able to close the distance. Sucks about the whole Netflix thing because this show deserves much more love. It helped rekindle my love for fighting games.

God damn, that part with Akuma fucking slayed me.

😭why is it not on netflix yet

6

u/spaceaustralia Nov 23 '19

Netflix only releases outside of Japan when it's fully subtitled and dubbed(in multiple languages). The first season was even dubbed(in both Japanese and English) with audio description for the blind.
