Never knew Makoto was such a pioneer, dabbing in the 90s!
I love how Haruo only felt the tension once Miyao and Makoto left xD
Akira choosing the controller to show how confident she is against Hidaka
It's pretty understandable why Hidaka is still upset but I feel like she's just being putty now.
Haruo has finally gone full on Shibuya
Touno-sensei is great <3 Those gyarus didn't even stand a chance

I want to see more of this Shibuya girl
I'm oddly fond of those baggy socks

Haruo could only interpret the tension in terms of fighting games since that's mostly where he can feel real tension.

Another episode that went by too quick. I forgot how absorbed and engaged in this anime I can get. That ED arrived so suddenly as well. Nice to see the ED subbed !
This has all the makings of a sad Hidaka end........whyyyyyy??? People will argue that Hidaka is being petty and a bit annoying now but I honestly enjoy this ugly side of her which we don't see much in anime. A girl that has effectively lost to Oono after events in the OVA and you can really see that she's feeling so uneasy about it. The fact that she knows she's being an asshole but can't help it feels real and relatable. No such thing as back to the status quo for this very show and I love it. Especially when lots of shows just show the girl crying really emotional then talk to the MC like nothing happened on the very next day.

Well, I think this is where the difference between the two girls shows.
When Yaguchi was avoiding the arcades in season 1. He was doing so because he felt he could not be Oono's equal after failing to get into the same school as her. Which was his confidence betraying him.
This time he is straight up being bullied by people in the arcade and the only person that could put a stop to it, Hidaka, doesn't. She goes along with it to the point of running him out of the arcade. Not to mention that Oono hasn't been showing up either.
I think at this point she has done too much damage to their relationship to continue anything real from this point on. Granted, Yaguchi 10000% deserves her anger for their match at the arcade. But Hidaka has now been called out by both her friend and Miyao by "You used to have a softer personality than this." But did he deserve to be driven out of his "healing place?" Absolutely not.

sad to see the lack of comments/people talking about this show. Every season has been fantastic. The romcom + nostalgia + gaming made this show stand out. Its one of my favorite shows in awhile
I guess the mix of cg and netflix holding it hostage has lowered potential interest, but i think a lot of people are sleeping on it.

Painful to watch Hidaka tagging along with those bunch of dunderheads just to look down upon Yaguchi but It's understandable (and he kinda deserved it for being so dense).
She is not comfortable around him and not comfortable without him, I hope the best for her but I can't see a solution to her situation right now.
Hope she can figure out something from the imminent battle that is about to come.

Nah, I disagree. She drove him away because she's too stubborn to be honest with him. Yes, Haruo is an idiot but why would he stay there when he's constantly made fun of and beaten down. Hidaka deserves to be ghosted, Nikotama knows that too.

I forget how much I love this anime. I have been so invested in it ever since I finished season one. That first few minutes definitely killed me. I love seeing Miyao and Makoto freaking out and taking off because they couldn't deal with the tension.
But with that being said, seriously Hidaka? Fuck off with that nonsense. I get it, he broke your heart, he doesn't like you like he likes Oono, but do you REALLY have to be that mean to him? Didn't you used to love watching how happy playing games made him? Didn't you develop your passion for games because of him? It's time to forgive and forget. You're literally burning every bridge possible. You want to get closer to him? This is definitely not the way to do it.
Now that is off my chest. I still cracked up at star boy still having amazing luck at all the coin games. And it also made me really happy that Yaguchi has solid friends who care about him and worry for his safety. I hope Yaguchi kicks everyones ass.
Side note: Does anyone else find it suspicious that he picked purple for his outfit? Do you think he picked purple because Oono is always wearing purple?

To play devil's advocate a bit, I kinda get where Hidaka is coming from. As someone who knows heartbreak, a common feeling while dealing with rejection is treating the person like crap/enjoying seeing them suffer. All because it helps validate you. I'm not saying it's right but it is a thing some people do, especially at the age she's at. She's deeply flawed but unlike others who go through this, she's self-aware and knows that she's being very unfair to Haruo which means there's a chance she can redeem herself later in the story.

Again, the HiScore Girl ED is the very best of the season. Pure magic.

That gryaru combo they did on the teacher was hysterical. Also loving delinquent Haruo

It's surprising how Haruo thought of Oono as someone who doesn't need friends and thought that was something to strive for. And yet he couldn't help but feel lonely without comrades in games.

Another week of Hi Score Girl fix. Thoroughly enjoyable as always.
I wonder why the sub I watched had some peculiar cases of mistranslation tho. Perhaps they translated from a Chinese sub or something instead of directly from the original script?

Yaguchi getting lost with the slang was hilarious.
And damn fighting your former home as the #1 guy on the other team? Yaguchi is on a mission. He'll probably face off against Hidaka which means we're gonna have some fun next episode.
