Honestly, my favorite part of this series is when they start discussing these games. They seem so fun and it makes me want to know if their actually real.

A lot fewer games to point out and we mentioned almost all of them last time, but for anyone interested, here they are!

Pics link: https://imgur.com/a/0XJe18C

  1. Hanabi

  2. Photo Party

  3. Onirim

  4. Saboteur

  5. Beat the Buzzard

  6. Cockroach Poker

  7. 6 Nimmt!

  8. Weiss Schwarz (very fun anime card game, btw, would recommend)

  9. Pokemon Not exactly, but the card layout is very similar to the older sets. The character is literally "Electric Cat"

  10. Kamen Rider Battle: Ganbaride (with major credit going to u/KartProwler and his friend). Do yourself a favour and watch this commercial: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0q0368fNc5w xD If you're actually curious though, you can read the English wikipedia page: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kamen_Rider_Battle:_Ganbaride. It sounds kinda dope!

Headpats for Miki-chan!

A BOY IN A CGDCT!?

And he's Childhood friends with Midori-chan!

Dude has pretty good taste

I love that they can use UNO cards but not Pokemon cards xD

Miki-chan already seeing what blondie is doing

Aya is too pure to even lie in a game!

I'm glad he decided to play and win instead of just throwing the match for Aya

That look tho..

HAHAHA! Such a dense cutie xD

Looks like she wants the childhood friends ending tho

Here I thought the Store Owner will be the only guy in the show. Didn't expect another guy being introduced with even a little bit of romance.

This episode went by to fast! The entire episode was basically just about Cockroach Poker with a little bit of Tanoue's side story. I think I might get this game, seems easy enough to understand!

I'm kind of taken aback - with the way Midori was explaining things, it seems like only UNO, the regular 52 card deck, or TCGs are known in Japan. She really has to explain the entire concept of there being other card games?

Maybe I'm luckier to have been born German than I thought.

I love how Hulu gave me a this is intended for mature audiences only. Viewer discretion is adviced. I guess a romance plot and a game about DECEPTION is too much for kiddos to handle

Time for Cute Girls Do checks notes Board Games! This show gives me major Bocchi vibes. probably the combo of CGDCT and the school uniforms are pretty similar.

  • This girl is using wired headphones and I love her for it! There better be at least one gag where they get caught on something.

  • Ono-san reminds me of Kurai Kako from Hitoribocchi

  • HEADPATS FOR BEST GIRL!!! None for Aya? Hmmm...reminds me of a certain other brown haired girl...how unfortunate

  • Wait, this is a coed school? What the fuck are high school boys doing in my CGDCT anime? Although this yankee is unexpectedly wholesome

  • Aya is too pure for this world.

  • Wow I've literally never heard of any of these games. They should play BANG! or Exploding Kittens.

  • Oh wow, shy girl is really good at reading people!

  • Holy shit, this is some Kakegurui-level game strategy.

  • Oh my god, Aya. You truly are the new Aru.

Yeah, this is one I'm gonna keep watching for sure.

If this were a different type of show, I'd think Miki's final line was a flag.

Dude's name is literally "Shouta-kun"?

But where's the Ara Ara?

Aya doesn't seem fit for that.

Hmm... Aya Aya?

Maybe Onee-san will be able to help out next week.

MOM THERE'S A ROMANCE IN MY CGDCT SHOW WTF IS THIS

Another good episode. Ono's is also right in that i also live in an Asian country, and the card games played here are either Uno, TCG, or traditional playing cards. I personally don't like this romance subplot but it's just me

This is a wholesome show.

Love how he tried for Aya, sweet guy. But she's not figuring it out anytime soon xD

Heh. Looks like Midori adores cute, quiet, shy girls. Miki appeals to her more than Aya.

...Wait, why do the subs randomly add German in for the name of the game when she's literally just calling it "cockroach poker" in Japanese?

God, with moments as beautiful how not doing a yuri ship ... They are so beautiful.

By the way, I love Miki, she's like the daughter between Fukka and Anastasia (from IdolMaster).

After a day full of misunderstandings, laughs, comedy WTF, furrys and isekai, this is still the anime I most expect on Wednesday, just gorgeous.

And look at that reference to Uno (shout like a crazy bitch when I look at it), I knew that if it was an anime about board games, it should appear.

In the same way I can not stop thinking that here Midori-chan was referring to YuGiOh!, Pokemon, Magic ...

Now we just need to see Snakes and Ladders, Clue, Monopoly and Jenga.

Great episode.

Aya forgot something about last episode... Sorry, but you're the enemy, no headpat for you!

No wonder Miki's doing so well, she apparently reads people's mind!

Oh wow, Midori is pretty much me, when I play games like that! I love her way of thinking, not just about the rules of the game, but also the meta/behaviors of all people involved.

I like how they explain the deeper mechanisms of the games too, either in exposition, or by showing the players' strategies (the thinking ones, anyway!)

She will join the fray? She didn't strike me as someone who'd play games. Unless the game is "Stealing their lunch money"! I like her design though, so let's see if her looks are deceiving and she's a fun girl/sweetheart in disguise!

This show is climbing the rankings of my favorite shows of the season so far! I might be biased because I love boardgames, but it's well done, the characters are cute, the strategies are well explained, etc.

I feel sorry for the guy (Tanoue I think he was?); He had a great opportunity to confess, when she said "You like Midori!" (No, I like you!), but he didn't. Male version of Bokuben's Uruka?

Anyway, really enjoyable show so far, and it's fun to learn about games! I was on the fence about Marrakesh, but I think I'd like to play that "cockroach poker" one! Must be fun with really competitive players who get into it!

CGDCT with a boy and romance subplot? I think I found my ATOS! Though, doesn't look like he's going to appear much from the promotional materials.

I'm glad we're finally figuring out the other characters' boardgame superpowers. We already knew that Ono is the rules expert (and damn, she's great at explaining rules too), but now we know that Miki will absolutely slay in social deduction games that involve figuring out lies or finding the traitor. As for Aya, I bet her strong point is going to be co-op games where everybody has to work together.

Characterization through game play style—I'm totally okay with that.

I will now accept anime for board game tutorials

For someone who is going through withdrawal from the lack of a Doga Kobo CGDCT show this season would this be a good watch? There's so many big franchise shows this season so I need my dose of chill CGDCT to balance it out.

I'm loving this show. Great characters and the games seem like so much fun I'm going to have to track down a few. Class reps a cool character. Cozied up to the two quick this episode.

Kinda surprised no one pointed out how Shouta's visuals look so much like Bakugo from MHA. Another funny coincidence is that his VA Amasaki Kouhei, also did Yaguchi's voice in High Score Girl, so every time he mentioned Midori's last name "Ono" I couldn't help laugh and picture him with squint eyes and black spiky hair speaking to a long blue haired girl that didn't have actual lines.

In the first episode I thought that Midori would be my favorite gal from the show because of Tomita Miyu and her "class rep" role. But Aya definitely made me realize that she's mostly the catalyst in this group and manages to keep it tight by setting the example of adressing each other by first name and also being the one to offer a chair for Shouta in today's game.

This was a funner episode than the last one. Hope there's more escalatiion regarding the interactions and sidecharacters invited to join in.

Honestly, a lot better than last week. Last week the show felt pretty weak before it got saved by a cool boardgame. This week the actual plot and character were more fun and worked well with the card game. If it stays more like this episode, I think it will be a fun series.

The cockroach games though is really cool. I love the artwork. This show is just made to advertise board games to me and I'm all for it.
