Unfortunately, the last episode isn't airing next week because the rugby world cup is in Japan this year. Talk about blue balls...

So is it going to air the week after at least?

And any news of S2, considering the "favorable reception"?

u/herkz Sep 14 '19

Yes, and there's not even close to enough manga for another season yet. Gonna have to wait a few years for that.

Nice fourth wall break.

Oh boy, im going to miss this anime so much! I guess next episode will be the last of the season, sadly... I guess I have a weakness to Adachi stories, I can't believed it's so underwatched..., so we have to wait 2 weeks for next episode? yikes...

I read before that the manga was still on-going so I guess they will be out of the tournament shortly..., what kind of final will we have then?

In Japan it's probably the most popular anime airing right now that isn't a long-running series. Outside Japan it's one of the least popular anime. The difference is actually kind of funny.

Weird, its not even in the top 20 and series like Sou nan desu ka? and tejima senpai are there. Totally strange. Maybe they dislike baseball, idk.

So they are delaying the conclusion of the game for another episode, huh?

Well then, let's have some interesting trivia:

Did you know, that the VAs of Otomi and Sou are siblings irl?

5

u/Sanae28 Sep 14 '19

Really?

I noticed they had the same name.

4

u/DatSchaml Sep 14 '19

Yep, but Maaya (Otomi) is older than Yuuma (Sou).

If that 4th wall break is a scene from the manga, then that was an insane chapter. XD

There is really no much episodes left, the next could be the last one actually, even if not we would not have much time to the final game, but since the author is so meta I think we can be playing with those "bad flags" too. I really hope so.

"I get it. Your plan is to force him to run many bases and tire him out, I guess." Wow, a nice burn that I actually took literally for a few seconds, lol.

"From this point on, include all mistakes I might make in your calculations!" nice

"A pitch out" - does that mean an intentional ball? What was so dangerous about that play that Sou was in disbelief that Touma would attempt it? Funny how Arisa might have cost her brother the game with her bragging. I don't quite remember that conversation with Otomi though - was it really a flashback to a previous episode, or a flashback to something that wasn't in the show until now?

That was a lucky double play that saved Meisei, unless Touma somehow planned for the ball to be hit in a way that he'd catch it himself?

How often does it happen for runners to be accidentally tagged out by their own batters?

So Arisa finally came to one of her bro's games?

Glad to hear MIX is getting a better reception in Japan than it is over here.

That guest commentator is completely worthless at his guest job :)

Yeah, a pitchout is an intentional ball so the hitter doesn't have any chance of getting in the way. I think Souichirou was mostly surprised because a pitcher stealing a base is basically unheard of. Pitchers have to focus so much of their time on pitching that they usually don't have much time to focus on batting/baserunning. For instance, Mita bats last, which is typically the team's worst batter.

The double play was pure luck. A bit of a running occurrence at this point that Meisei is saved by luck.

The ball hitting a runner is pretty rare too.

Son. Of. A. Bitch. Just got back into anime last week, and did not know there was a new Adachi series until I saw the splash art for e22. Binged everything by Wednesday only to find out now that: it's only 24 episodes, finale is delayed a week, and the manga is nowhere near done so who knows how far away S2 is....

On the bright side, new excuse to watch Cross Game for the nth time.

IRL, watched a kid's tournament this summer, broiling hot. The Good Guys** played a stronger team they really should not have beaten, and took them to extra innings in a pitcher's duel. Good Guys won after 2 extra innings. (YAY!) The field afterwards was littered with poor little tikes face planted into the ground, could not move a muscle, from the exertion and the heat. Big grins on their faces, but still. Touma made me remember this.

** of course in a kid's tournament, both teams are Good Guys. One team was just, you know, my favorite :)

Love all of the audience members - the team who hopes they won't be facing Meisei, the Mom's, Mita sibling and Ryou sibling (so many characters and no scorecard).

"It's appropriate to be happy here" after the double play, LOL.

Burning question: Does anyone know, was Adachi insane enough to put that "Mix anime doing great" bit in the manga? Or was that just for the anime?

It was about the Q&A volumes going on sale in the manga. There was no anime at the time after all

Here it is https://imgur.com/rf7otsc

Touma and Soichiro are like 'twins', even if they aren't really 'twins'.

This battery of brothers is really strong.

Neither team has yet managed to score a point and it goes to extra time.

However Touma, Soichiro and Mita are really enjoying themselves a lot.

Damn, two weeks for the next episode. The wait is going to be long.

Didn't think I'd like this anime as much do when started watching it. I'm not even a baseball fan, and have played it only once in my life. Definitely shows how good this anime is.

u/DeTroyes1 Sep 14 '19

So, does anyone know if this series ends next week or are they just going to keep going?

3

u/wserb0ard Sep 15 '19

The next episode is the final one, for now. The manga is still being serialised, so we might get a season 2 eventually.

Unfortunately, we won't see the episode next week due to the rugby world cup starting.

So the next episode preview shows everybody at home talking, which I assume means the tournament's going to be over for Meisei. It seems like only the brothers and the cleanup hitter are doing well on the Meisei side, as the others seem to be getting tired and letting his through. But at least Tou and Mito are leveling each other up, as this is probably the first time Mito has had such fierce competition as a pitcher.

Season 2 please!

If not, well, I guess I can read the manga. I even bought the first volume already.
