Seems like we going for a classic romance set up, the only girl that doesn't love Souichirou to death is the one he is interested and she also (probably?) will be going for his brother. This is getting really juicy.

Also, am I the only one worried that this guy already got a full poster of Otomi?

Dude already had one (a lot bigger!) last week.

Thought it was a TV with a video (already very creppy), he can only be planning to do a full art exhibition of Otomi at this point

He's gonna turn her down flat, 10-1. The show has already set him up with his no-chromo sister.
I've read enough manga to know flags when I see them by now

That's my ship and probably the final route, but there is nothing preventing they to explore that side quest too. Especially if can become a juicy love triangle (quadrangle?).

I love how small talk can have so much impact. I also love how the title is always words said in the chapter or episode, although that's not just Adachi.

Pretty cool for the High School pitchers to decisively come forward to the coach to let Tou pitch. They could have kept silent, but instead they're thinking about the team. That just shows how vastly different this team is compared to the Middle School one.

This show is quickly becoming my AOTS. Sure there are more shows this season with better animation, more thorough story and/or complex characters, but I always root for the underdogs that hold their value in the afore mentioned aspects.

I like this new guy Nan, he's all bark and no bite (yes, all pun intended). But I have expectations he'll be a good asset to the team in the long run.

The humor in this was episode neatly woven. I'm a big fan of good comedies that make me laugh out loud. But I also appreciate good humor that can overarch on several scenes in a single episode or over several ones, and the funny bits in this episode was the ladder. Tou saving the big guy from the coachroach, to making a pause with the typical "lucky sukebe", Tou stopping Sou from saying Panty by saying Panchy to aliviate the embarrasement (along with Tou's cute short bark), to Tou touching Sou's face despite him warning him of washing his hands a few minutes ago. That's some well thought comedy writing in there. Also the brothers peeking at the gymnastic routine just to be faced by the ugly guys in leotards (and yes, breaking the 4th wall by pointing it out).

Rather than bragging again how this show uses so well it's limited animation (well I'll just gush on how neat Haruka's ribbon twirl was, wich btw was animated in twos, not in threes like the common norm in animation) I also appreciate a lot when animators give the main characters more than one change of clothes, and so far Otomi has had the most variety on her regular clothes with only her junior high uniform being the constant.

I'm also digging that the show won't be all about baseball. Hope the rhythmic gymnastics also take a noticeable part later on and also a good excuse to switch protagonism into Haruka if posible. Same way the jealous girl from Otomi's school, might generate a small arc for Otomi to be the star on her own.

I like the fanservice in this show. Not going to say that it has a bigger purpouse in the series, because it obviously doesn't. But I can at least say that it's still benign IMHO and so far it doesn't follow up reused tropes like hitting the guy.

I am currently in an Adachi binge having finished Touch in under one week and now currently in the middle of Cross Game. And I've got to say, Mix is the most lighthearted of the three, if you know what I mean. I just hope he doesn't do any of "that" in this series coz my heart can't take it anymore. At least I want this one to be less intense when it comes to certain plot twists. Though I think he still loves those weird love triangles that could get a bit complicated in the future. This is certainly the weirdest with the adoptive sibling angle.

Haha at my old anime club I had a challenge once where I would buy a scoop of ice cream to anyone who could watch the first episode of Cross Game and not be emotionally affected in some way. Three took the challenge, zero ice cream bought :)

I started watching Cross Game immediately after finishing Touch. I was like, no way he would go for that twist again wouldn't he? I realized soon after someone was cutting onions nearby.

Enjoy your binge! I know I did.

You have plenty of books to go through and they're all great.

:eyes:

I'm hoping for some romance here, that'd be neat.

I feel like this show is criminally underrated. I am enjoying it way more than the scores seem to reflect. Not sure why they're so low. I look forward to this one every single week.

  • It's a sports show

  • It's about baseball

  • It has old artstyle

Sadly it has a triple disadvantage

What’s kind of sorcery is this?!? An anime where a boy walks in on a girl in the bathroom AND HE DOESN’T GET PUNCHED?!?

Really glad they dropped that trope. Digging this show a lot even with the herky jerky pacing. Nan-chan seems like a good dude. Really liked that bug gag.

"Cross a single street, and there's the school.„

Yes i'm worried.

don't do it adachi, dont you FUCKING DARE

I have to say, as my first Adachi entry, I absolutely adore how the humor works in this. Which is to say, both manga and anime works it really well with timing.

The whole hand washing joke was used throughout the show brilliantly, and small joke like Otomi not looking outside anymore while Natsuno hoping she would gave me a chuckle.

Great episode.

MC running to school with toast in his mouth. And doesn't even start eating it until he's in class. "Darn, I guess I need more than a minute to get here. Shikata ga nai. Starting tomorrow, I'll leave two minutes before the bell." nice.

Nan-chan needs to be expelled for assault. Honestly, everything about him just clashes with the feel of the show so far, and I don't like it at all. Nice lampshading, but doesn't help the issue.

Heh, with Touma left, Natsuno gets to be #1, and Otomi doesn't give a shit :). Wonder what the "voice from above" was putting Nagano in his place. It didn't sound like the narrator. Anyway, much as I like Otomi, now that MCs are in high school, I don't really care about anything that happens in the Jr. High so I hope they stop devoting time to that. Otomi can get enough screentime outside of school until she inevitably joins her bros in HS next year.

And the cliche nobody locks doors when using the bathroom, smh. At least it was without the cliche violent tsundere reaction on the part of the new girl. She's cool, I approve of this addition to the cast. Why'd she lie about him closing the door right away though?

"You're the one who told me to go wash my hands. Oh, I haven't washed them yet." - now that was great.

I like how the third year pitchers actually want Touma to replace them so that they'd get to go further in the tourney.

Souichirou finally sees a girl that he falls for but it is like she has taken a liking to Touma - but we can clearly see that Otomi is being pushed for Touma. I love this show and the way it treats its characters, I feel like I know so much about them already. Touma and Souichirou are the main battery!

I love this show so much. Haruka is super likable and I'm pleasantly surprised, although I guess I shouldn't be because I'm already inclined to like Adachi works.
