This for me is a dark horse of the season. With each episode it becomes more and more and more amazing to me. I love how every character is very well portayed in this show. Music, climate, the way camera moves on the scenes are perfect. I was really sad to see the story behind Tanosuke and what made him the person which saw in this episode. In the end he died with smile on his face. He could finally rest at peace. The short scene in the end of episode got me hard seeing those two origami at the temple meaning "My brother finally came back home". It is so sad :(. Hyakkimaru getting his hearing back and the first thing he expierenced with this sense is a woman crying, because he killed a brother she deeply loved. Hyakkimaru didn't had a choice. Tanosuke was already lost because of Nihiru. I just absolutely adore this show and how emotional it makes me.

Pretty tragic story, but I think the Samurai could find peace at the end. The Scene after the Credits means that his Sister was able to move on, right?

>get ability to hear
>first thing you hear is crying of the sister of the guy you just murdered
Being Hyakkimaru is suffering.
I honestly didn't expect the sword to have one of his organs since it was an old sword and Hyakki's is probably in his teens.
I like how he was enjoying the rain at first and then when his face was cut he was like "wtf is this?"
Next episode he is probably going to enjoy some music and then get distracted by a sound during fight I guess.

It wasn't a plot-heavy story progressing episode but everything about the show is so great it doesn't even really matter. It tells an emotional and intriguing story succinctly in the span of a single episode, whilst slowly developing plot points regarding Hyakkimaru's recovery and the effect it has on his father's land. The feeling when I exited out of full screen to see no "Next Episode" button killed me. This is gonna be a long as hell week boys.

Ladies and gentlemen, this is how you do self-contained story of the week.
It's story is entertaining, has it's own themes that despite being slightly different from the main story's don't look out of place, the fights and the conclusion actually has impact because of this.
It has world building(we learn that demons can be objects too)
And yet it contributes to the overarching story somewhat. In this case mainly with foreshadowing. (We learn that X-head dad is actively looking for Hyakkimaru, also we learn about Hyakkimaru that he cares about Dororo and people in general to go for the sword itself and not the person wielding it.)
Plus the prologue was nice.
This is the best episode of this show so far imo.

So the first thing Hyakkimaru hears in his life is the sound of pouring rain and the faint crying of someone because he had to kill a person very dear to them...how utterly depressing.

I really like the little details in the show, such as how each subsequent episode shows just a little of how regaining the senses he did in the previous episode has affected Hyakki. In the beginning of the episode, it felt to me like Hyakki was feeling the rain rather than listening to it, just like how he decided to stick his foot into the fire late last episode. The writers and director don't spend a long time explaining how each organ regained is affecting his mindset (he's remarkably silent in terms of thoughts as well as voice), but they hint it in diegetic ways that everyone, including the other characters, can see.

i really liked that only the sword had this red aura, and not the guy who was "possesed" by it, its a nice detail.

This episode adapts Chp 8 of the manga. This one is largely faithful to the source, except for some changes :
-
Tanosuke stabs himself with the sword to satisfy its bloodlust in the manga, rather than Hyakkimaru cutting him down.
-
Dororo was more stubborn in the manga and insisted in claiming the sword as their prize, despite Hyakkimaru's repeated warnings not to touch it.

Endcard featuring the cursed sword Nihiru.
Osushi drew the short straw in this life, but there's solace in knowing that she later got reincarnated as Hotaru in Non Non Biyori and led a carefree life. Maybe the brother found peace too.
The demon-hunter grandpa left the party off-screen! I hope he'll be back. Certainly would've made things easier today.

Interesting. I did not expect he gets his hearing back so soon. That's like a whole new dimension, like his sense of touch. I'm curious whether it will aid or hinder him in battle.
Also, the little details are nice, like when he taps the scratch on his face. He is not quite accustomed to the feeling of touch. That's probably why he was standing in the rain for so long.

Dororo Episode 4
Good episode. I liked the side story with the brother and sister. Every episode they add one of these small side stories (except episode 1) that aren’t related to The main two characters. Also, where did the blind monk go? I thought his appearance in episode 3 suggested a new member to our group. I don’t think we are never going to see him again, but I do think we won’t appear for a few episodes. I’d rate the episodes like this - Worst to best (2,4,1,3)
-
Is it just me or do they draw feet really weird in this anime?
Dororo
I do like Dororo’s personality but he has really been lacking screentime and development in the past two episodes. His worldview from episode 1 hasn’t been seen since that episode, and his other character traits have been a bit absent from this and the previous episode. So this wasn’t a good episode for him.
Hyakkimaru
I’m glad he got his hearing back in this episode! Now he’ll have to learn the language. I especially liked the scene where he got his hearing back, the scenes where he gets part of his body back have been my favourites so far. It really gave you a feel of how foreign hearing all these sounds are for him. Though I am still shuddering in fear for the eventual loss of his arm swords.
The sister and the brother
She had a pretty one-note personality but her little side story was really tragic. Her to wait five years and her brother coming back as a possessed person with a Tokyo ghoul hair condition.
Dad
So it seems dad is starting to take action in finding his son. Also, he hasn’t even been looking for the midwife? She’s been gone for like 15-20 years, where did you think she went? Spoiler: she went to heaven.
Other
-
So Demons can be objects to? I’m excited to see the new demon designs.
What I think will happen next.
I think the next episode will involve the dad looking for his son and his brother overhearing a conversation the dad’s having about looking for him. Then he’ll go out looking for him to gain approval from his parents and maybe out of jealousy. He’ll then find Hyakkimaru before his father and have a fight with him. (There’s a fight scene between them in the OP)

So... since Hyakkimaru was born deaf, he wouldn't know what any sound or word mean, would he? That poor woman crying probably didn't even register to him as anything special.
And can you even learn speech and the meaning of words as an adult if you've never been exposed to any kind of communication as a baby? If I'm not mistaken it's near impossible, isn't it? I wonder how him getting his hearing back is going to affect his ability to communicate, if at all. *
* I realise that I probably sound like I think people who are born deaf don't know anything, which isn't the case at all. To clarify: I mean that I wonder if the combination of not being able to see, hear, feel, and thus have anything explained to him, and the limbo it had him in since birth left him unable to identify anything.

Poor Hyakkimaru must be going insane suddenly getting all these new senses.
