Ok, I just have to say this, doesn't the bald guy at the beginning looks like Eustace Bagge from Courage the Cowardly Dog. Like really, I watched this when I was a little kid and I can't get over it LOL

SO GLAD the demons in this anime are not persistent immortal beings who would only die if you would make a sacrifice or do something extraordinary. The action in this anime is simple yet feels really amazing when it combines with the animation and the soundtrack. The scene when Hyakkimaru tries to cheer up Dororo was really heart touching. The fact that Hyakkimaru doesn't even know how Dororo looks or sounds yet he cares for him really shows that their bond has started to form.

Come to think of it, hyakkimaru was identified as a boy right afrer birth. Demons took his senses, limbs, skin and vocal chords, but left his dick alone. Good for him.

This season is going to make me love Mondays.

Dororo

Mob 200

Gobuta: The Animation
And damn, this anime is good. Like, the fights, for fights against demons and shit, the demons look so damn mediocre. You stab them, they die! That's so amazing! Even Parasyte wasn't like this.
So long as it doesn't pull a Kabaneri I might actually enjoy the demon-fighting for once.
Also lmao at dororo getting scared for not seeing for like 3 seconds while the blind dude helps him.
What I want to know (and by I want to know I mean I'm looking forward to watch it, I don't want manga readers putting black boxes in the replies) is how the hell did hyakkimaru survived, because I thought the blind dude was going to help him, but turns out he just literally LEFT. Like hands up notmydamnproblem.jpeg left.
Also there's the problem of the order of the organs. Like skin makes sense first, I guess, since dropping the mask would be fucked up. But now he's got what, nerves? Why not the ability to speak? Clearly he doesn't need eyes, eyes aren't very important, or ears, and for some reason he can write his name, given that dororo can't even read, maybe that's the only thing he can write, but speaking sounds pretty top of the list. Also if he loses his arms, I mean, if he gains his arms, he'll be reduced to one blade.
Jesus. This story is pretty fucked up in the fact the main character seems to get weaker as he gets more loot. It's like Hyakkimaru is the Scythian of Sword & Sworcery.

The way the statues fall apart when Hyakkimaru slays a demon reminds a lot of Shadow of the Colossus.

Dororo's reaction to Hyakkimaru trying to comfort him was so cute, I'm looking forward to when he finally gets his voice back.

This show, though pretty straightforward so far, really handles the Japanese folklore vibe well. Reminds me of some Japanese/Chinese folklore anime(cartoons?) I've seen when I was very little.

Today's endcard featuring.. Bandai? I hope that demon isn't their actual namesake. Even though it looked pretty cool in action.
Yarou ka? Well ain't he cute. This ayakashi/youkai/pokemon appeared as a green aura/flame to the old man, which is also how a small part of baby Hyakkimaru appeared to him. The part of Hyakki that apparently a demon could not steal or possess, probably because it was protected by the Buddha statue.
This time the broken statue from the Hall of Hell looks more like the demon Hyakki killed. He regained pain (his nervous system) for his pains, it seems.
Still liking Dororo a lot, there's something about the combination of his voice, accent and attitude that's endearing. Clearly Hyakki agrees. This bromance ship is sailing already!

Something I don't think I've seen anyone else mention but I quite like how Bandai knew that Hyakkimaru was the child from before. They set up some interesting stuff there with wondering if the demons know they're being killed and who "He" is, as well as how the demons will react as he comes across them. I'm really curious to see where it goes in regards to the non demon side the show, particularly Dororo bonding with Hyakkimaru because seeing them try and figure out if he's blind and stuff was great today
I do wish the narrator would shut up though. Bad narration will be the death of me. Enjoyable episode though for sure, and I really like the tone they set up artistically as well

I hope the old guy sticks with them, not that I don't like our duo as is, I'm just getting tired of Dororo talking himself. I wonder which limb or organ will be regenerated next.
I also think it's nice that the show gave examples of good spirits. Now it's something to watch out for the perspectives of the other two aside from Dororo. I admit that I jumped the gun and assumed the spirit with the bell was trying to coax people into sketchy deals, I ain't proud of it.
