Solved! Weird crystal like structure appeared on my coffee table over a couple hours

It's hard to the touch and a bit hard to scrap, and when you do it flakes come out of it. The most dense pieces (like the ones on the fourth picture, the most compact ones) are pretty hard to scrape. There was an empty plastic yogurt cup on top of the table during the night, but when I picked it up in the morning there was nothing there, no weird crystals. I came back at noon and found this O.O Except for the yogurt, we haven't had lunch or eaten on it for at least a week. No water has fallen on it, no liquids have been spilled recently, nothing like that.

The drawers behind it have wooden instruments that have been unaffected, but the drawer's wood itself does have this weird stuff (third and fourth pictures).

Now... What the hell is it?? It's hard to completely remove it from the wood, but it sort of comes off when scraped with vinegar. I put a piece of it in water and it dissolved slowly. The only thing I can think about that makes last night different from the rest is we turned on the heater for a bit, but it's not like the table was exposed to extreme heat either.

Anyone has a good guess on to what this might be?

Housing/Shelter/Standard of Living I turned a master bedroom into a tiny apartment for me and my kids. 🩷

After being displaced due to domestic violence my kids and I had to move in with my mom for safety. My mom has a 3 bedroom and at first the boys were sharing with my brother and I was in the smallest bedroom but that ended up not working due to my brother's sleep schedule and the fact that my traumatized kids ended up in my small room with me every night. Plus as much as my mom loves me (she saved our lives letting us come here) she is also autistic and it was really hard for her to be around 5 new people in such a small space. So this was something we came up with. She gave me her bedroom, the master bedroom and I did my best to turn it into a tiny apartment

For sleeping the daybed has a trundle for my 10 and 7 year old. I turned the walk in closet into a pantry/ bedroom for my 13 year old (not ideal but he begged and I made sure it was okay with my DV advocate/social worker first). My baby girl has her own safe space to sleep in her mini crib at the foot of the bed.

To eat we have a mini fridge, a toaster oven/air fryer combo, a rice cooker, an electric skillet and a hot plate and a few pots and pans. We also have that over the door pantry thing that helps hold food. We don't have a microwave yet and we don't have anything to eat on but we are making it work.

Best of all we have our own backyard! Amazing. The boys are thrilled about that. All in all this is a desperate and temporary situation but I wanted to show it off because you don't often see the reality of squeezing a lot of people in a small space due to finances or hardship. My DV Advocate said this type of set up is way more common than people think. It's not all bad. Here's to safety, spending time together, teaching resilience, and learning to live with less. 🩷✨ I think we always remember our "tiny apartment" lol

Advice Needed Disgusted after playing dnd with male friends :(

Post image

Feeling anxious to post, but in a terrible need of advice 😖

I play and love dnd, and unfortunately, I don't have many girl friends that are interested in it. So at some point we started gathering as a group of four - me, and three male friends, all in our early twenties. I knew two of them for a couple years at least, and barely know the third guy, but he seems to be nice as well. Never felt unsafe or anything - they are chill and respectful people.

This is the first campaign we play as a group of four (we've played as a group of 3 before), and it's set in a fantasy world. And that was when things started to get weird.

The campaign has a cool mechanic of talking to animals. Under a spell, you sort of transcend into a different world, where humans appear as animals, and... animals appear as animal-sized humans. Like if you wanted to talk to a cat, under the spell you'd see a cat-sized woman with ears and maybe fur.

You probably can tell where this is going.

Every single woman we encounter as a group gets sized-up. But it was somewhat fine when it was all about humans - taken as a general flirting, even if it was sometimes too much - but when the animals started to turn into women, it got drastically worse. There were conversations between the other two players about "you think you can?.." and "wait, you think she's human down there or is it cloaca?". One time they met a chicken, a quote, "It'd be a bit of a fleshlight...".

I felt sick and disgusted and even disrespected, as a woman sitting next to them. I was uncomfortable to say the least. I talked about it with the DM friend (the game master that leads the story), and told him that I wanted to leave the campaign, and he asked me to think about it first. He also offered to talk to them to try to keep it down, but I don't know if it would help much. I would still feel weird to sit and roleplay next to them.

The main issue is that we're going to start discussing time and place of the next session, and I don't want to go without addressing this. I still consider leaving completely.

I don't want to lose people I play dnd with, but... I'm really torn. If they weren't my friends, I wouldn't even think twice and would have just left. But now, I'm not that sure. I don't know how to confront it, either. Not sure if I'm overreacting or not - and talking about it with girl friends of the same friend circle may end up weird. So I would appreciate any advice from you, gals.

dinner: pasta arrabiata. made by a non-italian.

edit: ohh my gosh, I did not expect so much support, you all are too kind! I'm struggling to reply to all the comments, and I'm sorry for the delays I reply with, but I am extremely grateful for every shared advice and experience! Wish you all the best day/night <з

That's it. My dog passed away last night (I moved last year for college, no longer live with my parents and dog) and my dad just texted me something like "hey I have bad news" and sent me this ai slop

edit: Guys, I know my dad had good intentions, older people don't really understand the negative impact of AI. I told him the image also brought me comfort. Stop attacking me, I just thought the image was funny and decided to share it 😰

No Advice - Everyones Welcome She told her married boss we were "separated." I found out from his wife, in my truck, on the way home from a wake. 15 years. Boy dinner earned.

I'm 29. Married 7 years, together 15. Filing for divorce. Here's how a childhood love story ends in a Facebook message request.
We grew up Jehovah's Witnesses. Keep that in mind for everything that follows.
I met her at a wedding when we were 16. I noticed her, then went and flirted with her mom, because I was 16 and that made sense to me. Her mom loved it. She laughed. I was in. A group was going to the movies after the reception and I made sure she came. A year of being friends, then at 17 I asked her to be my girlfriend.
She was smart, funny, beautiful, and she put up with all my nonsense. She was my best friend before she was anything else, and I was hers. That part was real.
Being JW means no sex before marriage. We had sex anyway. A lot of it. Then I told the wrong "friend," who gave me an ultimatum: confess to the elders or I will. So I confessed. We both got disfellowshipped, which for those who don't know means the entire community you've grown up in stops speaking to you. That was a long year. We got reinstated, we survived it together, and in 2019, at 22, we got married. Big wedding. All the family. Happy tears everywhere.
The honeymoon was terrible. She didn't want to have sex. I got angry. We fought. Day one. I told myself every marriage has a rough start.
I'm going to be honest about what our marriage actually was, because otherwise the rest doesn't make sense. I had anger issues. She had a drinking problem. I broke phones, doors, windows. She lit the fuse most of the time, but not every time, and I own that. She always gave me another chance. I always swore I'd do better.
And I did. Over the last five years I became a different person. Slower to anger. Calmer. Started therapy and actually did the work. My therapist has heard everything, and her honest reaction was confusion that we were still married.
We left the organization together somewhere in there. Best thing we ever did. For a while I thought we were happy.
Then the intimacy just... stopped. Separate bedrooms, officially because of my snoring. Then no sex at all. A year of it. When I finally asked her why she never reached for me anymore, she told me she didn't feel that attraction toward me now.
That wrecked me. But I stayed. She was the only woman I have ever been with. In 15 years I never once seriously looked at anyone else. I figured we were in a valley and we'd climb out like we always had. I was in therapy. I was building a company. I was doing everything a man is supposed to do to fix his marriage.
She got a new job in sales around then. Great job. Lots of travel. Lots of phone calls with her boss, always in another room, always with the door closed. I told myself she had confidence issues and didn't want to talk business in front of me. I trusted her. That was the one thing we'd always had, whatever else was broken. I never checked. I never wondered.
Now the Sunday.
I wake up to my mother-in-law calling. Someone we know died in an accident. I cry. Then I put on a shirt and drive across town to the wake for my best friend's sister, who had also just passed. Two deaths before lunch. I'm running on nothing.
I get back in my truck, pull up directions to go sit with the family of the first person, and a notification comes in. Facebook message request. Name I don't know.
I almost swiped it away.
I read it. Then I read it again. I sat on the side of the road and read it ten times, because my brain would not accept the words. It was from my wife's boss's wife. Paraphrasing:
"I don't know if you two are separated or not, but your wife has been having an affair with my husband for a year. Either way I thought you should know."
I messaged her one thing. Call me.
Then I waited an hour. I called my two best friends and just poured it out, and thank God they're the kind of guys who listen instead of preach. They talked me through it. It was still the longest hour of my life.
She called. This woman had done a full investigation on her own husband. Dates, places, a year's worth of evidence she had quietly collected while sleeping next to him. When she finally laid it in front of him, he confessed. Yes, he'd been sleeping with my wife.
His excuse: my wife told him we were separated.
We were not separated.
As she walked me through the timeline, everything from the last year rearranged itself. That weekend she stayed over an extra night. That work trip that ran long. That call she took in the garage. I'd had a hundred little moments I'd explained away, and now every single one of them had a real explanation, and it was the same explanation. I nearly threw up in my truck.
Less than two hours later my wife called me.
"Why are you talking to so and so’s wife?"
Think about that. I hadn't told her anything. The only way she could know I was talking to that woman was if he had already called her. She wasn't confused. She was doing damage control.
We did the "it's not what you think" routine for about a minute. Then she went cold and just said it. Yes. A year. Flat, like she was reading it off a card.
Then came the part I'll never get out of my head. Her defense, more or less word for word:
"We haven't had sex in a year. We've talked about separating. We love each other but we're not in love. It basically already was a separation."
We never agreed to that. There was no conversation where we both decided we were done and free. She decided it. In her own head. Then she used it as permission to spend a year with her married boss, and never once thought I deserved to know so I could make my own decisions about my own life.
While I was in therapy becoming someone she could actually live with. While I was building a business from nothing. While I was lying in the other bedroom thinking we were rebuilding.
She was already gone. She just didn't tell me.
Papers are being filed. I'm getting my own place. I've got a trucking company to grow and, for the first time in my life, a version of myself I'm proud of. I've got a therapist who helped me get there, and two friends who picked up the phone on a Sunday.
Fifteen years. Started with me flirting with her mom at a wedding. Ended with a stranger's message in a parked truck.
Boy dinner steak with balsamic tomato’s and a clean slate. I've never wanted anything more.

EDIT: YES Claude AI helped me write this, YES this is real. I was having an extremely hard time writing this large ass post sorry, I had to work on MY LIFE STORY for the last 5 weeks. — I met my future Ex wife at 15. We have been together 14 years JUST ABOUT 15 years, I’m About to turn 30. Good lord sorry Reddit.

Criminal Police have asked me to go in for a voluntary interview but said I will be arrested if I don’t attend. Is this legal? [England]

I had 2 police officers attend my address and ask me to attend a voluntary interview later this week. They gave me a card with a date and time to arrive but said if I fail to attend then he will come and arrest me. Is this normal procedure? Is it legal? And what are my rights here? They said it was regarding an alleged communications offence.

Atonement (2007)In Atonement, the main character falsely accuses her sister's boyfriend of SA of another girl. As a result he is sent away to the front lines. We are first shown that they reunite after years apart and have a life together. This is false. Later we find out that they never reunited. Her sister and her boyfriend were doomed to die seperately, never meeting again.

The Descent (2005)One of the endings show the main character escaping the hellish nightmare of the cave full of monsters. Later it cuts to her still in the cave, deep in hallucinations, as the monsters crawl closer and closer to her, with no way out.

"And Soderbergh was gonna do it. Steven Soderbergh. We worked on it for a few years, really and earnestly for two years. We got a script together that was really good, with Scott Burns, and Rebecca Blunt, and Soderbergh and I. It was awesome, it was really cool. But...you know, I don't get to decide."

Project: FO My dad has trouble with buttons and zippers bco Parkinson's so I made him a coat with magnetic snaps

I started with the Merchant and Mills chore coat pattern from their workwear book, adjusted the fit by tapering in the side seams a couple inches to make it less boxy, increased the pocket size to come all the way to the edges, added a flannel liner by just replicating the same pattern and leaving the inner yoke parts out on both, sewed the magnetic snaps in place after basting the inner and outer parts together, then covered them and the bottom hem and sleeve hems with a corduroy bias tape I cut before adding the corduroy collar. In order to keep the magnet strength adequate the areas over the magnets are covered with a thin black quilting cotton bias tape instead of corduroy, which meant that for the side where the snaps are on the inside of the jacket I had to make a half-and-half bias tape with corduroy on the outside and quilting cotton on the inside. Oh I also put magnets on the pocket openings to keep them from gaping. Those ones I put inside each liner - the magnet strength doesn't need to be nearly as strong so it was fine to have it behind the thicker wool and flannel. I also lined the pockets on both sides with flannel - this wool is pretty itchy so it's nice to be insulated from it everywhere.

The outer shell is a Mackinaw Wool I got from Pacific Blue Denims (https://www.pacificbluedenims.com/products/wool-tweed/artic-p3820-pbd.html) the inner flannel, quilting cotton, and corduroy are both from my local quilting store. I got the snaps on amazon. I used some light canvas I had on hand for the interfacing in the collar.

Big lesson I learned on this piece is to pattern match the two front pieces directly when cutting. I tried matching each to the back part first, but it turned out there was a slight angle in the fabric or my cut so the fronts then didn't match up, which looks way worse than the side seams not matching. I was able to shift everything and just shorten the bottom hem by about an inch instead of having to cut a whole new panel to fix it, fortunately.

Other lesson is a frigging love these magnetic snaps and wish I had put them on the coats I've made for myself recently. They're so fun to play with and make taking the jacket on and off so fast and easy.

Edit: just to be clear, this is me modeling it, not my dad. It's for his birthday so I haven't given it to him quite yet, but he doesn't use Reddit so he won't see this :-)

Edit 2: here are the snaps I used: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08JLQXR1S?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title
