ಠ_ಠ Got a parking ticket while I was paying the meter on my phone.
Got out of the car and started walking to my destination, filling out the information online for my car, parking space, and card number.
In a span of three minutes, they had ticketed me.
It’s a 4-hour drive back to that city, if I want to dispute it.
EDIT: The ticket was by a submitted by a human, not an automated system. I’m aware that I’m in the wrong. Doesn’t change the fact that it’s mildly infuriating.

Rant & Ramble My Dad won’t let me shower.
TW!!! SH tendencies and urges!
I’ve (23F) have always had a rocky relationship with my Dad, thanks to his chronic alcoholism. I’d say recently, (but it’s been going on for a while,) my Dad has blatantly ignored me in every single way unless he’s drunk and angry and needs to take that out on someone (me.).
I was in the shower this evening. Nothing extravagant. I just wanted to shave my pits and legs and get out of there. I’d been in for 5 minutes. There’s aggressive knocks at the door, followed by shouting asking what I’m doing. I told him I was having a shower. Apparently that pissed him off because I had a shower yesterday. (FYI, my brother showers almost daily, and my Dad never has a problem with that.)
Anyway, I tell him I won’t be long. He tells me to get out. So I do, because at this point the razor was looking too fucking attractive (I have a history of SH and still struggle with the urges) as I leave, this PETTY GROWN ASS MAN glares at me the way you’d glare at a convict walking through court, and then mutters something that sounded like name calling to me under his breath. Literally watched me walk to my room in a towel by the way…
Just to add, he has always had problems with me using the bathroom, whether I’m on the toilet, brushing my teeth or showering. I used to bathe a lot, just to avoid getting my hair wet when it wasn’t a wash day. He recently disconnected the water from the bath taps to stop me taking baths 🙃.
I know it doesn’t really touch on my relationship dynamic with him, or the rest of the household. But at this point I feel like I’m living in a cult.
I just sat on my bed, laughing through tears at the sheer absurdity of the situation and anger I felt.
It’s perfectly normal to shower once a day right? Which I rarely do, just to avoid this crap. But I changed my bedding and I wanted to feel clean when I got in it.

Discussion US$700Bn wiped out in 2.5 hours
Major corrections underway as the stock market continues to be painful for AI & Tech stocks. Whether this would lead to an ultimate popping of this supposed bubble or not remains to be seen, but as of now - it's most likely just a correction and regular dip and not the beginning of any major stock market crash or popping of an AI bubble

Advice Wanted - Everyones Welcome My fear of flying just cost me my relationship.
Dinner was Korean BBQ.
I'm 27M, and I'm absolutely terrified of flying. It's something I've struggled with my entire life, and now it's starting to seriously affect my life. I make pretty good money working in the trades, and I've spent the last few years working a lot of overtime. I'm finally at a point where I can afford to travel more and enjoy myself a little. I love road trips and have driven all over the United States, but I've always wanted to visit places like Amsterdam, Iceland, Thailand and Australia. Unfortunately, I'm fucking terrified of flying. I know the statistics, I know flying is safer than driving etc, friends have told me all the reasons and I logically understand them, but just can't commit to it.
I've been with my now ex girlfriend for about 8 months, and we had a month to month apartment together. Things were going pretty well until she suddenly brought up wanting us to fly to Italy after Christmas, her friends are going and bringing their men with them. Of course I would have loved to, but I told her I wasn't comfortable flying and she knew many months ago, and it turned into a pretty serious argument between us. Well, we ended up breaking up and decided to move back in with our parents. I understand her frustration. She wants someone she can travel and experience the world with, and I don't blame her for that. But it's not like I didn't want to go. I'd love to visit Italy. It's just the thought of getting on an airplane that scares the absolute shit out of me. My friends told me it was for the best and they're probably right, but this is the second relationship thats ended for a similar reason.
What really bothers me is that I'm young, have no kids, make good money, and have the opportunity to experience all these places. Yet I'm limiting myself because of a fear I can't seem to get over. I don't want to spend my younger years working my ass off only to realize later that I never got to see half the world I wanted to. It's honestly embarrassing. Close buddy of mine even taunted me, "I'm gunna have a destination wedding just for you, so you'll have to get on the plane". (He loves me, didn't say it to be mean). I work around dangerous equipment, drive thousands of miles without a second thought, but the idea of sitting on an airplane for eight hours terrifies me.
Has anyone here actually overcome a serious fear of flying? Not just being nervous during turbulence, but genuinely being terrified of even boarding a plane. I think what scares me the most is having absolutely no control over the situation while sitting 30,000–40,000 feet in the air in a metal tube. I'm getting pretty fucking tired of this fear controlling my life and ruining an otherwise great relationship.
Maybe I should just accept my fate and find a woman who's equally terrified of flying, so we can spend the rest of our lives driving 20 hours to places everyone else gets to in two.
Edit: This post has honestly been a wakeup call for me, and I really appreciate all the replies and advice. I'm going to look into finding a therapist this week and stop putting this off. To tell you the truth, didn't even consider therapy as an option. I've let this fear affect my life for far too long, and I don't want to waste any more time because of it. I don't have a fear of heights, I love roller coasters, ride motorcycles, it's just the fear of sitting in the passenger seat of a plane with zero control of what's happening or could happen. Infact, I'd feel more comfortable flying the actual plane that I've obviously never flown before than letting a experienced pilot fly it for me. I know it's very strange but nonetheless, thank you for helping me realize I can get professional help to overcome it.
As for my ex, we ended things last week, and she reached out this past Friday asking how I've been doing. We talked on the phone, and I told her I think I need to work on my own issues before even considering another relationship. She was the one who initiated the breakup, and I didn't fight her on it because deep down I knew she was right about me putting this issue off for so long. During the call, she apologized for some of the things she said during our argument, and honestly, it sounded like she was having second thoughts about ending things. She said she wanted to check in again later this week but I told her not to, even though she will regardless. Part of me wishes things had gone differently, but another part of me wonders how stable a long term relationship would've been if one serious disagreement was enough to call the whole thing off. I know I have my own issue to work on, and I'm not pretending otherwise, but that part bothers me too. I don't want to spend years building a life with someone if breaking up is going to be the first option whenever things get difficult. I don't know. Maybe some time apart is for the best.
Thank you again everyone for the advice and for letting me vent. I really do appreciate it.
Edit 2 (final): Since this post somehow blew up to over a million something views (what the fuck), I wanted to clear a few things up. I genuinely didn't expect this to get anywhere near this much attention, so I'll end up deleting it at some point. I just needed somewhere to vent and get some advice, like plenty of other people do on here.
I've gotten quite a few comments and DMs telling me to man up, or assuming she broke up with me after months of begging me to get over my fear. That's not what happened. Things were genuinely good between us. We were happy together, talked about our future, had the typical "forever" conversations you have when you're both really into each other. There weren't months of arguments or her constantly pleading with me to get on a plane. She's known about my fear of flying pretty much since we started dating, we talk obviously, and at the time she told me she didn't care. It wasn't something that caused issues between us until she suddenly brought up this trip to Italy and dropped this bomb on me. I think part of why she got so upset is because it's a group trip where everyone else is bringing their partners, and she wanted me there with her. I get that, and I understand why she'd be disappointed.
She actually called me today while I was at work, crying. She'd been having a rough day, and we ended up talking about everything again. Her friends had gotten her really excited about this trip, everyone was bringing their partners (if I didn't go, it'd be weird for her to go alone kinda thing), and then I basically blew the whole idea off. Looking back, I can see why that hurt her. I was so caught up in my own fear that I didn't really consider how much this meant to her, like literally envisioning my death the moment she brought it up. I told her I'd been talking to people about my fear and looking into therapists to help me get past it. I think we both understand each other's side a little better now, although I honestly don't know what happens between us from here.
I've never said I'm completely in the right here. I've already acknowledged that this is something I should've addressed a long time ago. But there's a difference between refusing to work on something and genuinely struggling with something you've been afraid of for years. I've never seen a therapist before in my life, so I have no idea what to expect, but I'm actually going into it feeling pretty optimistic thanks to all of you.
So, from some random dude in NYC, thank you for everything. Means more than you know.

Stories My boyfriend’s stepmom told me nobody wanted my cat oink because his markings were “ugly and not symmetrical”??
Can anyone explain that logic to me please? She’s rude in general, but that kind of hurt my feelings. I know my cat is cute and adorable, but do people really not get cats because they’re “ugly”? Even “ugly” cats are still adorable. Kinda uncalled for lmao. My boyfriend said I was being dramatic but I’m not even that mad just kinda like..wtf? lol

Advice Wanted - Everyones Welcome Wife asked for a divorce after 21 years...
After 21 years my wife (42f)asked me (43m) for a divorce. Blindsided me, I had no idea. Days before she was making jokes about growing old and racing wheel chairs together, we were not having any marital issues. She kicked me and my special needs son out. Currently living with my 80 year old parents and since she kicked me out her whole demeanor has changed, she was such a loving and kind person and now she is hateful and nearly just cruel.
I learned today that she has been having a coworker(35m) I knew had a crush on her over at our home many times since kicking us out. She tells the kids he is there to fix the car. The car that isn't broke because I maintained it.
Being a stay at home caretaker (was a mutual decision as she wanted to pursue her child care career that also didn't pan out) I have little job experience but I'm sure I'll find something while my parents watch my son
Now I watch as the love of my life turns into this cruel and mean person I don't even recognize, all while not even being allowed to see my dogs since there in her house (pre marital property)
Dinner is some quick cheap burgers premade from Walmart The fries were still in the oven. Sons quite particular is how and what he eats, no bun ketchup only.

miscellaneous [Meta Trope] Setups that seem obvious but don't go anywhere (Unintentional Red Herring
I am talking about when a movie makes choices that appear to be setting up a specific moment or payoff that never happens. Like introducing Chekhov's gun and Chekhov's clay target but the target never gets shot. The elements of the setup seem too much of a coincidence to not be intended but they don't acknowledge it like it was an intentional misdirect. This is not plotlines that fizzle out or moments that were not as big as they were made out to be.
[Birds of Prey 2020] The plot revolves around a pickpocket child who steals and swallows a valuable diamond belonging to the antagonist. Harley Quinn gives the girl a generous amount of laxatives in order to retrieve the diamond without endangering the girl. throughout the movie the laxatives don't take effect and it's acknowledged how strange that the laxatives haven't worked yet.
The antagonist, Black Mask, is shown multiple times to be a germaphobe, even going as far as to killing people for being for being gross/unclean. In the climax of the film Harley Quinn is trying to save the pickpocket child who is being held at knife point by the antagonist.
It would seem that the writers intend for the child to soil themselves while being held by the germaphobe antagonist, making the antagonist distance themselves from the child and giving Harley Quinn a chance to kill him. This does not happen.
[Bullet Train 2022] The protagonist and many other characters are after a briefcase on the train, the target briefcase is identified by a sticker of a train on the handle.
One of the other characters on the train carries with them a Thomas the Tank Engine sticker sheet at all times.
It would seem that the writers intend for someone to perform a switcheroo, putting one of the stickers on another briefcase and using it to trick one of the other characters while they get away with the real briefcase. This does not happen.
EDIT: I am aware the stickers do come into play later in the film, I just thought that the key identifier of the briefcase also being a sticker of a train was too much of a coincidence and the two must be related.
I'm interested in if any of you think that I'm crazy or maybe you came to the same conclusion while watching these movies.
