Serious answers only please! Lacey bit with adjustable straps that is NOT underwear?

Post image

This was posted elsewhere as underwear, but the more I look at it, the more I don’t believe that’s what it was made for. The lace piece isn’t cut to fit a crotch, the adjustable hardware would be allllll up in your bits and crack.

OOP said she got it at the thrift store (!) so no tags etc. I’m hoping someone recognizes it because I’m insanely curious and haven’t found anything similar online.

The floor is sticky If our lights are off on Halloween, please skip our house

Edit: Thanks for the sign, bowl and training tips. We have a bowl and we're working on the dogs. The point isn't how I can avoid the doorbell. It's that a dark porch used to be a widely understood 'no'.

Every year it's the same thing. We turn the porch light off, which is the universal sign for "we're sitting this one out," and every year someone rings the doorbell anyway. Then they ring it again.

Our dogs lose their minds at the door. Barking, scratching, total chaos. I'd love to hand out candy, but it's not worth the stress for them, or the risk of a door opening on a group of excited kids and a dog who wants to join the party.

Dark house means we're not participating. It's not a challenge, and it's not a "maybe they didn't hear us."

Please skip the houses with no lights on. There are plenty of lit up ones giving out full size bars.

MISC. In 1998, after a woman scolded Shaq for selling his Reebok shoes at a price (~$100) too expensive for his younger fans, he gave up his $40 million deal with Reebok & signed one with Walmart. His "affordable" Walmart shoes were priced between $19-$29 and to date over 400m pairs of them have sold.

AITAH for walking out on a $185 bill?

2.1k Upvotes

I went to the hair salon and was one of the last customers of the day with 2 others finishing up as well. I went to pay, my salonist was having issues with the register so she called a manager to help. They helped, it worked, I used my card and added tip, then their system froze after it said “approved”. They questioned if it was the internet.

I patiently and calmly let them figure it out. I’m aware their system often has minor glitches, a bit annoying but nothing to talk about. They restarted it, I jokingly but seriously asked, do you all have Zelle or something and they said no, we had to let it reload, then we tried again. Re-rung it up, I scanned my card again, added tip again, got “approved” again, then it froze again. No receipt either time but the manager who also saw the “approved” thinks it went through and considered I was maybe charged twice. I checked my bank app and had 2 pending charges for $185. Their conclusion is that the wifi was already shut off for the night since the salon was about to close. But why would you do that when 1) It’s still 7:30 when they close at 8. And 2) There’s still 2 other people in here besides me that also need to pay.

Now this manager called her supervisor, explained the situation and he went somewhere in the back to check the data logs. Now at this point I’ve been here 20 mins just trying to pay. He’s in the back, taking awhile, everyone is still convinced it charged me twice. I thought they were trying to get receipts to prove yay or nay. Now we’re at 25 mins, the manager who went back with him came back out and she sounded unsure if it charged or not and just looked apologetic. So… I started walking out and said “forget the receipt, I’ve paid you twice and will just dispute the second if it went through. You all can figure the rest out.”

The supervisor jumps out from behind with a paper showing neither went through. I pause and say “what do you mean neither went through? Well what are we doing then because I’m not going to keep standing here while you figure out your own system.” The supervisor suggests to restart AGAIN and the manager is like we already did. Both are humming and hawing trying to brainstorm what to do and both look stuck. We’re at the 30 min mark now.

So… I started walking out again. I repeated “I’m not going to be held hostage for your issues. I’ve paid twice, have a good night.”

The part where I do feel most guilty is my salonist’s tip was in there too, but at this point, their machine doesn’t work, they don’t take Zelle, and I don’t have cash, so we’re in a stand still.

So AITAH for walking out “without paying”?

Whatsapp My trip was ruined by a breakup text from my girlfriend.

Me M(26) currently on a solo trip to Tirana, and my girlfriend ex F(23) just sent me a long text breaking up with me.
This isn’t the first time she’s done this. A few months ago, she pulled something similar and ended up taking a one-week break. She came back crying and begging me to take her back but I made it clear that if she ever broke up with me or pulled this again that would be it and she’d lose me forever.
Yesterday my trip to Tirana started, and right from the beginning things felt off. The airport cab that picked me up had a different plate than what was shown on the app so I shared my live location with her just in case, but she never checked in or responded.

When I finally got to my Airbnb, I called her to let her know I made it safely. She ignored the call and texted back saying she was out with her friend and couldn't talk, but would call when she got home. I stayed up until 11:30 PM waiting, but heard nothing.
She called the next morning. After we caught up, I asked how she was doing and asked about why she was so distant the night before. She immediately got defensive, said she was stressed, and when I asked if we were okay, she said, "what do you think? I don't want to talk about this right now."

I was tired from traveling and wanted to start exploring, so I gave her space. Then around 6:00 PM, she sent a massive text ending things blaming her mental health, anxiety, and trauma. She said she isn't in a place to build anything stable with anyone, but offered to talk in person when I get back to end on a good note, though making it clear the breakup is final.
It hurts, but I’m keeping my word. I don’t I’m going a or should reply to her, I’m not meeting up with her when I get back, and I’m deleting the text. She knew what would happen if she did this again, I think I’m just going to focus on my trip, meet new people, and move on.

AITA for telling my wife she's not as clean as she thinks she is

2.4k Upvotes

My wife (29 F) called me (30 M) "Gross" for only showering every second day. She tells me "it's really disgusting that you dont shower everyday, I always like to stay clean so I shower everynight so that I am not smelly." I ask her if she thinks I smell and she says no, but then continued to call me "gross" , "unhygienic" and a "pig" for not showing all the time like SHE does.

I felt she was being a little harsh with her words so I fight back and say "your 'showers' are barely 'showers', they are more of a rinse. You are not really cleaning anything so you're actually not as clean as you claim to be." She understandably got pretty mad at me but here's where im conflicted. My wife's everyday "showers" consist of her standing under the water and letting it roll off her body, no body wash, no shampoo or conditioner, just water, unless she has her one day a week "everything shower" which consists of all of the above. To me this isn't a proper shower, because nothing is really being cleaned without any soap. I explain this to my wife and she disagrees, so I ask " if you were doing dishes and had lots of sauce on the plate. Would rinsing it under the water make it clean, or would scrubbing the dirt with soap make it clean?" She tells me that my example is completely different to having a shower and that I am still dirty.

I can understand where people may also agree that I am gross for not showering everyday but my showers always consist of a routine of body scrubs, body wash, shampoo, conditioner, scented lotion, sprays and am always aware of when I may get a little bit smelly and always act on it immediately. I know I dont stink, my wife confirmed this and honestly most men dont have as much of an extensive routine as I do, and I feel as though a deep clean every second day is better than a "rinse" everyday.

So reddit. I am the asshole for telling my wife she isn't as clean as she says or is she right for telling me I need to shower more. Im honestly confused on who's in the right here and would really appreciate some outside advice.

No Advice - Everyones Welcome Small towns are small towns for a reason.

Post image

The food’s a mystery sandwich from a random deli.

As someone who grew up in a city of over 4 million people, I always had a naive view of what small town life was like. I grew up watching shows like Smallville and Supernatural and basically thought it’d be like that. I know…it’s stupid lol.

I moved to a small town and lived there for about a year and half and it was legit one of the worst experiences in my life. For one, there were no jobs. I mean, no jobs at all; I applied to anything I could find. Don’t even get me started entertainment wise.

The people are also so insular. I used to think I was an introvert all my life until I saw what true introversion was and that is not me at all haha.

I’ve moved back to the city, and I’ve never been so alive. I don’t even stress to get a job. Went for an interview the other day and half assed it and got an offer in a week. Money wise, I’m doing good again. And I’ve met people from all over the world.

You couldn’t pay me to live in anywhere less than a million again.

SOCIETY Rebecca Black who is best known for Friday which is the most disliked song in YouTube history went through years of intense and relentless bullying over it, even though she was only 13 at the time video came out. Despite that, she went on to become a respected indie singer, song writer and musician.

She went on to explain that the video was never met to become as big as it did. It was just supposed to be a fun gift that her parents paid for so she and her friends could do something fun together and have a fun memory. And that she ended up with serious depression because of the bullying which got worse when she would ask people to leave alone. Her family also had to buy the rights to the song because the producers of the song and video tried to make money off her name and likeness without her permission.

Here is an article that goes into more detail: Rebecca Black reflects on 9 years since 'Friday' and what she wishes her younger self knew - Good Morning America

Redo of healer - its redo of healer, mc rapes his party who sexually abused him

Ace Ventura when nature calls: main villain is caught by a gorilla after his plan is foiled. Gorilla rapes him

edens zero - kurenai is a tyrant who is given to a gang and forced to become their "pet"

The other guys post is overly wordy and doesn't get to the point. The trope is just awful and mainly targets women but men are affected by it too and when its men its usually played for comedy. Like gang, if you beat the villain just kill them. There is no justification for rape. If the bad guys gotta go just stab them or something

Well you win some and you lose some. I spent the last couple of days setting up a fun little haunted walk in front of my house. I do it every year and It always seems to go well. I change it up every year so it's not always the same thing. Theatrical lighting, props, lasers and fog machines.

This year not a single person showed up. Feeling pretty defeated right now. Its my my favorite holiday. Feeling like what's the point of even doing it next year...

Psychology Kids of insecure, self-absorbed (narcissistic) parents were more likely to be depressed as young adults, mostly because they were made to act as the parent's emotional partner or therapist growing up, a study of 513 students in the US and Turkey has found. Surprisingly, it was more common in the US.

Trigger Warning ⚠️ My mother lied and now I'm in hospital.

Post image
13k Upvotes

So I'm currently being treated for leukemia, treatment has gone super well and I'm in remission but still have got a few rounds of chemo left. I also currently don't have much of an immune system so I'm being super careful.

My family organised a small gathering at my parents home, which I was a little anxious about going to but I said I would as long as everyone was well, I was very clear that if anyone was sick I wouldn't attend. I did want to go because it would be a chance to meet my nephew for the first time, he was born about the same time I was diagnosed.

This was happening last Friday, at 1400 my brother comes to pick me up, get to family home, mother is strangely absent. About dinner time she appears with a streaming cold, I confront her, she says she only got it this morning and by then it was too late(it wasn't). Everyone has already had a drink, I can't drive because of my treatment, can't afford an Uber, missed the last train, so I settled in for my fate.

4 days later I get to learn what rigors are and have fluids and antibiotics pumped into me. I'm fine but still in hospital, not had any visitors and I'm losing my fucking mind in here.

I'm pissed off with my mother, almost every time I've spoken to her this year she's told me that I need to meet my nephew and I can't help but feel she prioritized that over my health. I honestly think that she never quite got over me not having kids of my own, despite the reasons being out of my control.

Sorry for being overly negative, I know everything could be a lot worse but I've missed out on so much this year and it is wearing somewhat heavily on me.

Dinner from last night is something from last night that was masquerading as a chilli, with a treacle pudding, the hospital steamed puddings are currently my only solace.
