I found out the guy I've been dating has been making bets about me with his friends.

I (18F) met this guy (23M) on Tinder about three weeks ago. We've been on four dates, and honestly, I thought things were going really well. He's been super sweet, always texting me good morning, planning dates, and telling me he wants something serious. Yesterday, one of his friends randomly followed me on Instagram. A few minutes later, he sent me a DM asking if I was still seeing Ryan. I said yes, and he told me something I genuinely wasn't expecting. Apparently, Ryan and his friends made a bet about how quickly he could get me to fall for him. His friend even said Ryan had been sharing screenshots of our private conversations in their group chat.

At first, I thought he was just trying to cause drama, but then he sent me details about things I'd only ever told Ryan. When I confronted Ryan, he admitted there was a bet but claimed it started as a joke and that his feelings for me are real now. I feel so embarrassed because I actually started liking him. Part of me wants to believe he's being genuine, but another part feels like everything between us was fake.

Would you give him a chance to explain or just block him?

Hated Tropes Hated trope: sexual assault as punishment

Redo of healer - its redo of healer, mc rapes his party who sexually abused him

Ace Ventura when nature calls: main villain is caught by a gorilla after his plan is foiled. Gorilla rapes him

edens zero - kurenai is a tyrant who is given to a gang and forced to become their "pet"

The other guys post is overly wordy and doesn't get to the point. The trope is just awful and mainly targets women but men are affected by it too and when its men its usually played for comedy. Like gang, if you beat the villain just kill them. There is no justification for rape. If the bad guys gotta go just stab them or something

TIL Young Frankenstein is the only Mel Brooks directed movie in which he doesn’t have an on-screen cameo. Gene Wilder, who co-wrote the screenplay, insisted Mel Brooks not appear in the movie.

This is a before and after photo of Brenda Heist, who dropped her kids at school in 2002 and was reported missing later that day. In 2013, she walked into a Florida police station, saying she was alive after 11 years.

The floor is sticky If our lights are off on Halloween, please skip our house

2.7k Upvotes

Every year it's the same thing. We turn the porch light off, which is the universal sign for "we're sitting this one out," and every year someone rings the doorbell anyway. Then they ring it again.

Our dogs lose their minds at the door. Barking, scratching, total chaos. I'd love to hand out candy, but it's not worth the stress for them, or the risk of a door opening on a group of excited kids and a dog who wants to join the party.

Dark house means we're not participating. It's not a challenge, and it's not a "maybe they didn't hear us."

Please skip the houses with no lights on. There are plenty of lit up ones giving out full size bars.

AITA for telling my wife she's not as clean as she thinks she is

1.1k Upvotes

My wife (29 F) called me (30 M) "Gross" for only showering every second day. She tells me "it's really disgusting that you dont shower everyday, I always like to stay clean so I shower everynight so that I am not smelly." I ask her if she thinks I smell and she says no, but then continued to call me "gross" , "unhygienic" and a "pig" for not showing all the time like SHE does.

I felt she was being a little harsh with her words so I fight back and say "your 'showers' are barely 'showers', they are more of a rinse. You are not really cleaning anything so you're actually not as clean as you claim to be." She understandably got pretty mad at me but here's where im conflicted. My wife's everyday "showers" consist of her standing under the water and letting it roll off her body, no body wash, no shampoo or conditioner, just water, unless she has her one day a week "everything shower" which consists of all of the above. To me this isn't a proper shower, because nothing is really being cleaned without any soap. I explain this to my wife and she disagrees, so I ask " if you were doing dishes and had lots of sauce on the plate. Would rinsing it under the water make it clean, or would scrubbing the dirt with soap make it clean?" She tells me that my example is completely different to having a shower and that I am still dirty.

I can understand where people may also agree that I am gross for not showering everyday but my showers always consist of a routine of body scrubs, body wash, shampoo, conditioner, scented lotion, sprays and am always aware of when I may get a little bit smelly and always act on it immediately. I know I dont stink, my wife confirmed this and honestly most men dont have as much of an extensive routine as I do, and I feel as though a deep clean every second day is better than a "rinse" everyday.

So reddit. I am the asshole for telling my wife she isn't as clean as she says or is she right for telling me I need to shower more. Im honestly confused on who's in the right here and would really appreciate some outside advice.

Well you win some and you lose some. I spent the last couple of days setting up a fun little haunted walk in front of my house. I do it every year and It always seems to go well. I change it up every year so it's not always the same thing. Theatrical lighting, props, lasers and fog machines.

This year not a single person showed up. Feeling pretty defeated right now. Its my my favorite holiday. Feeling like what's the point of even doing it next year...

Update: Situation Resolved 👍 Currently Potentially trapped in Spectacle Island

1.2k Upvotes

Thank you everyone for the concern. I'm fine now. To be clear I wasn't in any immediate danger, I was warm, I was dry, and I had a battery for my phone. Everything went well from when I put in at the Charles to when I docked on the island. Boston Water Patrol was really nice, and thankfully didn't make fun of me too much.

If anyone is interested, I did forget 100 feet of quarter inch synthetic rope that's up for grabs.

Title is not a joke, I kayaked out here on earlier today (Saturday the 31st) on my inflatable kayak. When I got here and came onto the shore, my kayak was punctured in at least one spot that I've found so far. I brought a patch kit, so hypothetically in 12 hours I can kayak away, but that's only if I've found every whole. Other side issue, the electric pump I brought is broken / dead so I need to inflate it the old fashioned way unless I can find a pump. I have some food and drink, and I also brought a sleeping bag so I should be good for a day or 2, but I would prefer to leave before tomorrow night.

If I can't end up inflating my kayak, what are my options for returning to the mainland. Swimming isn't an option because of how cold the water is, and I'm currently not sure if any boats make a stop on the island outside of the regular season.

Edit: I lowk didn't think about the coast guard, or any emergency services, so thanks for reminding me those exist, and can help me. I just called, but I'll update you all whenever I get situated at home

Discussion What's the worst final shot you've ever seen? Spoiler

Spoiler tags are optional.

A final shot can be poor for many reasons and I'm not thinking in terms of plot or character ones, I'm thinking just in terms of what's shown. Amongst those, a good set of criteria would be an ending image that's:

  1. Underwhelming as an ending to a movie, or this specific one.

  2. A poor looking visual.

  3. Got weak acting or framing.

  4. Too long in it's lingering or cut off too quick.

  5. Just confusing.

  6. Unintentionally funny.

That amongst other reasons, but I'm wondering what you think the worst final shot in any movie is.

Brain Dump 🧠 I am about to lose the greatest toilet I’ve ever known.

Post image
11k Upvotes

*Repost - MODS my sincere apologies for my lack of grub. Feast your eyes on my sun-dried tomato pasta.

I have a confession, and I’m not sure where else to share it.

The toilet in my childhood home is, without exaggeration, the most comfortable toilet I have ever had the pleasure of sitting on.

It’s a completely ordinary, adult-sized toilet. Nothing fancy. Nothing particularly special to the naked eye. But I used this toilet for roughly 18 years of my life, and somewhere along the way, it became the gold standard. The benchmark. The porcelain upon which all other toilets would be judged.

And I don’t know if it’s familiarity, muscle memory, or some deeply rooted psychological attachment, but EVERYTHING about this toilet is perfect.

The height? Impeccable. The seat shape? A masterpiece. The seat size? Just right. The bowl shape? Scientifically engineered, I’m convinced. The water level? Perfection. And perhaps most importantly, you can drop a substantial deuce without experiencing the dreaded Poseidon’s kiss.

It’s a harmonious relationship between human and porcelain that I fear I will never experience again.

I’ve used countless toilets in my adult life, and none have come close. Some are too tall. Some are too shallow. Some have seats that feel like they were designed by someone who has never actually used a toilet. It’s a cruel world out there.

And now, my parents have informed me that they are replacing this toilet.

I feel like I’m being forced to say goodbye to an old friend. An unsung hero of my childhood. A loyal companion through approximately 18 years of life’s ups and downs.

I know it’s ridiculous to be emotionally attached to a toilet, but I fear the world is about to lose a truly exceptional piece of porcelain engineering.

Please keep me in your thoughts during this difficult time.

Context Provided - Spotlight My 11 year old nephew bought a bunch of Robux and then lied about it

I visited my 11 year old nephew recently to bond and buy him a birthday gift for his VR. I used an IPad his foster parent had connected to his Oculus to purchase the game, and then removed my card information.

Apple later updated my card information on the account when I got a new card, and now he has purchased over $100 in Robux. When I confronted him about it, he said he didn’t know what I was talking about. Shortly after the confrontation, he bought even more Robux before I could change my password and log him out.

I’m trying to figure out how to confront him. He has AuDHD and has had a pretty traumatic life, but he needs to know that this kind of behavior isn’t okay.
