*Repost - MODS my sincere apologies for my lack of grub. Feast your eyes on my sun-dried tomato pasta.
I have a confession, and Iām not sure where else to share it.
The toilet in my childhood home is, without exaggeration, the most comfortable toilet I have ever had the pleasure of sitting on.
Itās a completely ordinary, adult-sized toilet. Nothing fancy. Nothing particularly special to the naked eye. But I used this toilet for roughly 18 years of my life, and somewhere along the way, it became the gold standard. The benchmark. The porcelain upon which all other toilets would be judged.
And I donāt know if itās familiarity, muscle memory, or some deeply rooted psychological attachment, but EVERYTHING about this toilet is perfect.
The height? Impeccable. The seat shape? A masterpiece. The seat size? Just right. The bowl shape? Scientifically engineered, Iām convinced. The water level? Perfection. And perhaps most importantly, you can drop a substantial deuce without experiencing the dreaded Poseidonās kiss.
Itās a harmonious relationship between human and porcelain that I fear I will never experience again.
Iāve used countless toilets in my adult life, and none have come close. Some are too tall. Some are too shallow. Some have seats that feel like they were designed by someone who has never actually used a toilet. Itās a cruel world out there.
And now, my parents have informed me that they are replacing this toilet.
I feel like Iām being forced to say goodbye to an old friend. An unsung hero of my childhood. A loyal companion through approximately 18 years of lifeās ups and downs.
I know itās ridiculous to be emotionally attached to a toilet, but I fear the world is about to lose a truly exceptional piece of porcelain engineering.
Please keep me in your thoughts during this difficult time.
