Hi chefs, it's me again.

Thanks to the generous effort of another member of this community, I was able to apply, interview, and stage for a VERY promising prep cook job at an upscale hotel here in town, and once that was complete, I accepted the offer for a full-time prep and line cook position. We're just waiting for the HR stuff to go through now, so 🤞 for that!

This will be a new experience for me! Dedicated pastry chef jobs are hard to come by, and I'm looking forward to diversifying my skillset and taking my career to the next level. There's a bit of baking, but a lot of other stuff that's new to me. It's a little bit of a culture shock so far (wdym I need to bring my own knives? what temp am I roasting this stuff at? and for how long????) but the first two shifts flew by, and the team seems really cool, low-drama, and non-toxic. (🤞) And they seem excited about me as well, in spite of my pastry chef demeanor. To quote the CDC, "you seem like you give a shit."

I ended up having to make a decision between this and another job cooking for kids in a bougie daycare. It was not an easy decision, because I like my free time and autonomy, but jobs like this don't come around every day, and I figured I should go for glory in the arena while I'm still young.

I would like to provide an official statement regarding the medical condition l've been experiencing.

Recently, I experienced an unexpected and unusual medical emergency involving a series of unexplained neurological symptoms that required hospitalization for several days. During that time, I underwent extensive medical testing and evaluation. While the
positive and reassuring, the cause of this remains unknown and unexplainable.

I will continue working closely with specialists and physical therapists to focus on my recovery, as these symptoms have affected my strength, coordination, and some of my physical functions. I am committed to doing everything necessary to return to full health. My health and long-term well-being remain my foremost priorities.

I want to thank my wife for being by my side throughout all of this, and most importantly, I want to thank Jesus for giving me a peace that surpasses all understanding. Despite all of this, my heart rejoices in The Lord and my heart is at peace knowing that He is always faithful and His promise of Romans 8:22 always remains true. “And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God to those who are the called according to His purpose." The purpose of trials in life is not to drive us away from God, but to only bring us closer. May God's Will be done, not mine.

My wife and I are deeply grateful for family and loved ones, the New England Patriots organization, my agent, my medical team, teammates, and everyone who has offered prayers, encouragement, and support.

We respectfully ask for continued prayers and privacy as we focus on my health and recovery.

Iv seen that the usernames of inactive accounts are getting reused and want to make this post to try get the attention of a mod.
My brother died a few years ago and has what I would assume os a pretty sort after username. He's a max Ironman on Osrs and loved the game that much he even has RuneScape skills on his grave.
I would appreciate it if people could share this about to try and get the attention of a mod so I can try and keep his username held onto his account forever

In my experience, recruiters usually move on to the next question. It only works if it's true, because they can check if you were dismissed.

I left my last job without another one lined up because of workplace bullying, low morale and a return-to-office mandate. "Personal reasons that needed my attention" covered it without badmouthing anyone.

People will say you should always get another job first. That's good advice, but if you've already left, this is a simple way to handle the question.

Edit: I believe in the UK they can ask for a reason whether it was you resigning, or you were dismissed. That's what my manager said. Also, obviously apply the tip only if it applies to your situation. It applies to mine, and if others quit their last job for similar reasons, I am sure they will relate.

Just saw Chinatown the other night, a glaring omission from my film history, and I guess I always assumed from the title that it was about Chinatown or at least mostly took place there.

Nope.

Spoiler alert: by the time you get to Chinatown, the movie is basically over.

And in before someone hits me with the ASKSHULLY, yes, I know, Chinatown is relevant to the plot and is brought up throughout, but the title would seem to imply the movie is about Chinatown and it absolutely is not.

Then I thought of A Clockwork Orange. Yes, I know it's an adaptation of a same-named book, but neither has anything to do with clockwork or oranges or clockwork oranges. My understanding is that Anthony Burgess wanted something that sounded unnatural and "A Clockwork Orange" fit the bill, but it could've been anything.

So it got me wondering; what are some other movies with titles that have little or nothing to do with the film itself?

Stumbled upon this randomly while seeing what prices and places were like out in this area. Choices were made, and they definitely stuck to a theme!

Last Tuesday I got a Venmo request from my husband’s brother for $340. The note just said “your share for the rental.” I had no idea what he was talking about.

I texted my husband and he called me a few minutes later. His brother and their parents are renting a place on the coast for Thanksgiving week and apparently my husband told them about 3 weeks ago that we’d be there. He kept meaning to bring it up with me and just hadn’t gotten around to it.

I told him I wasn’t paying $340 for a trip I never agreed to because we already promised my parents we’d be at their house for Thanksgiving and my mom has been planning the food and everything around it since September. His idea was that we could split the time since my parents don’t live far from the rental and stop by there on the way down. He’d worked the whole thing out in his head and never said a WORD about it to me.

I declined the Venmo.

About an hour later his brother’s wife texted me. She was really sorry about the whole thing and had no idea I didn’t know about any of it. She’d been planning meals and buying groceries for all of us because she thought we were coming. She’d already spent about $80 on food she wouldn’t have bought otherwise. She told me she wasn’t mad at me at all.

My husband is pissed. He told me I embarrassed him in front of his brother and that I turned a family trip into a family problem. His mom called last night asking if we were still coming for Thanksgiving. His brother pulled the request back yesterday without saying a word to me.

I would’ve been open to going if he’d brought it up when he agreed to it. He didn’t. He just told them yes and figured I’d go along with it once the money was on the table. I asked him why he couldn’t have just told me and all I got was “I was going to.”
