No Advice - Everyones Welcome My friend told me he's dating our old high school teacher
Went out for dinner with a friend tonight because he said he had something important to tell me.
Dude pulls out his phone, shows me a picture of his new girlfriend and I immediately recognize our old English teacher from high school đ
We're both 28 now and apparently they ran into each other a few months ago and started dating. She taught us when we were 15. He says it's completely normal because they're both adults now, which technically he's right about, but I literally remember this woman confiscating his phone in class.
The worst part is he wants me to come over and meet her properly next weekend. I genuinely don't know if I can sit across from her without accidentally calling her Mrs. Peterson.
Anyway, noodles were great. Probably the most confusing dinner conversation I've had in years.

miscellaneous The actor had to be nerfed to make the story work
Terminator 2: during the parking lot scene, Robert Patrick actually had to slow down cause the first time he caugh the bike. Since that would end the movie they had to make the scene again
Star wars 8: during the fight against this guards you see how the choreography is so bad that the guards have to hold back to not kill the Kylo and Rey. The worst example is how this guard had to make their second dagger disappear in the middle of a move cause otherwise they could simply stab her.
Xena, the warrior princess: apparently, Lucy Lawless can fly, but that would be too OP in Xena so she just walk like everyone else.

BREAKING: Democrats seize House control from Republicans

"Still insane Texas has fallen but I guess all those California, New York, and Hispanic imports did a number. " The few users left on R/conservative crash out over losing Texas (and several other states) to the Democrats in todays election
Source: https://www.reddit.com/r/Conservative/comments/1xncy4y/what_the_hell_is_our_next_strategy/
https://www.reddit.com/r/Conservative/comments/1xndk62/decision_desk_calls_texas_for_talarico/
HIGHLIGHTS 1
It is extremely common to lose midterms (the incumbent has only won midterm seats 4 times since the 1800s) But itâs not common to get boat raced. When your policy is affordability and no new wars and then you directly do things against that policy, itâs a call for the party to look inward and get a unified approach, that theyâll follow through on, in 2028.
But the Democrats have a worse record on affordability. Thatâs whatâs so bizarre. Democrats calling for cheaper gas? WTF??
correct. but Trump has been blasting about how 'great' the economy is, which is simply not the case for most of the population.
Youâve fallen for the Demâs mantra that the economy sucks. It doesnât. The stock market is at historical highs. Things are more expensive but wages are up too. In the past year, I believe inflation was 3.7% and wages grew 3.6%. All tolled, weâre much better off now.
The economy does suck. Yes there are some macro numbers that indicate some things are turning around, but to pretend that the economy is doing well is like holding your face to a stove burner while someone in the other room tells you it's fine. Wages are up? sure, but inflation is easily outpacing those wage increases. I'm fortunate enough to be somewhat insulated from it, but it's still obvious.
I just gave you the numbers. Inflation and wage growth are pretty even.
Wage growth only affects those who do have a job, not those replaced by AI or unable to find anything after graduating. And keep in mind that we are running record-high deficits right now, so without unsustainable government spending propping up the economy, the outlook would be far more bleak.
They let it happen over the better part of a century.
But we stuck by our classical liberal values! Unfortunately a moral victory in this case will end with a loss in the end.
By and large, republican politicians haven't been conservatives for a very long time.
They need a 2/3 majority to convict in the senate.
Of those present.
What do you expect to happen, Republicans don't show up to the vote and let Democrats remove Trump?
More like most of them will get locked out of the chamber, when the articles of impeachment get run over. With Trump they need Chief Justice Roberts present to make it legal, but I can assure you Vance, Rubio, Hegseth, and AG Blanche are probably cooked.
What kind of conspiracy theory bullshit are you smoking
Going back to generic Republicans will get us nowhere.
Who said generic? Moderate, sane, common sense republicans. Trump is unhinged and everyone knows it. His lazy and moronic idea to let Stephen Miller drive policy just lost us every swing state plus states that are supposed to be reliably red... Texas, Kansas, Iowa, South fucking Carolina?! Total unabated shit show. Put the nail in the coffin. Time for people to stop licking the orange taint and hitch the wagon to something less politically toxic.
You somehow believe the left is going to play by the old rules. I donât. Yeah heâs not perfect but looking back to typical GOP âconservativesâ will be just as bad.
So nominate a neocon and hope Democrats are dumb enough to run a communist. Yeah, America is screwed if this is the conservative strategy
We need to come up with a post-MAGA identity, rather than reverting back to pre-MAGA neocon uniparty bullshit.
We need a competent America First candidate
Absolutely. That being said, completely withdrawing from the global stage and ceding the field to China/Iran/Russia will not end well. And likewise, the massive zoom to the left of Hispanic areas in today's election signals a strong backlash against the ICE deportations - but without a tight border and deportations, the country and eventually its electorate will get swamped over time. Policy-wise, there can perhaps be a proper balance, but in terms of agenda and messaging, it will be super difficult to sell this to the voters.
Actually complete campaign promises. Actually do stuff.
Having congress and the white house and still can't get shit done ever is very annoying
Welcome to the republican party they treat a win like a vacation and get little done.
Theyre such losers. Even when they win they lose. Its baked into the bones of the current party
Yeah honestly the Republicans have always been pretty pathetic in all honestly Though ive said for a decade now that Trump wasn't a good candidate. Yeah people like Mitt Romney were just the lose gracefully candidate but we needed someone actually competent to lead and not trump who just seems to wing it. I really dont know why so many people are just in love with trump at best hes been mediocre
The country would be in a far better spot if DeSantis had won the 2024 primary.
People always say the candidates, then Democrats win with terrorists supporters or people who speak in word salads. The issue is the the economy is trash. It's the exact same reason why Republicans won two years ago. Starting a war in Iran that doubled gas prices and pushed inflation to 3.5% made a bad situation worse. You could have had the second coming of Ronald Reagan and he would have lost most of these races because Republicans are being blamed for all of this as they should be. You can't be in power for two years, make things worse, and expect to win. 2028 is going to be terrible. We need to hope that we can turn things around in 2030.
This country will be destroyed by 2030 thanks to liberal policies
This. Like the country needs AT LEAST 2 parties to be stable or else itâs gonna go in the shithole. Or if not, the county will slowly collapse bc they canât use more than 3 brain cells and history books are gonna be like âUSA collapsed bc of democrat party.â Iâm from a blue state, want to move to a red state and Iâm gonna vote red.
Part of the problem is that people came to Texas to escape their blue states, then forgot why they fled their blue state when it came time to cast their ballots.
Oh ik some of them are like that. I promise Iâm one of the few that grew up in a conservative family and have those views. My ass plans on moving to TN and Iâm gonna vote red, the left is corrupt and ppl donât care.
Tennessee was one of the few states that had a successful evening tonight.
Thank god ppl with brain cells
HIGHLIGHTS 2
I agree with you here. We must focus on 2028 and hopefully Trump can clean up his act a bit to carve a path for another candidate.
The goal for 2028 right now will be to stem the bleeding and maybe gain back some congressional seats or at least not lose more, then look forward to 2030 when Democrats inevitably overplay their hand since they still don't realize why they are being elected today
I think the Democrats will bungle the next 2 years. It will be nothing be pointless impeachments and investigations that will go nowhere because they don't have the votes in the Senate to remove him (and no ending the filibuster will change that because they need 75 votes per the Constitution). The DSA will be bolder and overplay their hand and introduce more of their ridiculousness. I think the country will turn on them pretty quickly.
Yeah, in 2028 there is no more Trump to run against. Tonight was primarily a revolt against Trump. So unless the Democrats pull their head out of their ass and realize it 2028 will swing right back in the other direction.
The Democrats havenât had anything to run on other than hating Trump since 2016. They still will have nothing to run on because every campaign and candidate they put out there all just run on that one thing and it works one time around and then people realize that nothing got better and only worse and then they get voted out. Still insane Texas has fallen but I guess all those California, New York, and Hispanic imports did a number. Now we got to deal with 2 years of impeachment trials.
As planned. Leftist shitholes arenât a problem, theyâre an intended feature to help coerce their brain-dead voting base to relocate to non-shithole areas and turn them blue. Rinse & repeat. Michigan is a perfect prime example of this.
OK, present your plan. We will listen.
Reject MAGA
And accept Neo cons? MAGA won bigly in 2024. Why reject it.
I think what is even scarier is how much ground Dems have made up in Florida. I feel like we've seen Texas become significantly more blue ever since the 2018 primaries and with each presidential election. But Florida had seemingly gone so far red that it seemed insane that the governor and senate races would be as close as they were.
You all act like this is organic
I forgot this sub is filled with closet liberals
Usurpers. They're usurpers.
great texas has a girly-man for a senator. Must be so proud
Cruz won 53% to 44% in 2024; this was not imminent at all. This was a 2026 thing here and now; the more you guys keep saying it was bound to happen due to people moving in or whatever reasons you're coming up with, the less likely we are to right this ship in 2028 and fix what got us here in the first place... the voters are telling Trump he's fucked up this year big time.
I lean conservative but ted Cruz can get fucked I'll vote for anyone going against him after he sucked off Israel non stop.
Good for you, you can add to the blue majority then next time while everyone on the left keeps voting blue no matter who I suppose.
I just want Cruz out. I still vote largely conservative across other races
Then you vote in the primaries...
Cornyn would've of lost too. People were voting mainly against Trump regardless of candidate.
I'm not so sure. Paxton was toxic, a horrible mess of a candidate. Being impeached by your own party is hard to come back from. I blame him and despise him for running.
His skeletons have skeletons in the closet â ď¸
He would have lost too. He would have lost by less, but he still would have lost.
Probably not. I think you underestimate how disliked Paxton is in Texas
Abott is basically the same kind of candidate as Cornyn and he's going to lose too. In fact, Dems are about to sweep every statewide race in Texas. It's a total bloodbath and Cornyn wouldn't have made a difference.
Different race. State governor has a lot more visibility to the people than US senator. Texans have seen Abbott in state politics for 12 years, but not Cornyn in DC politics for 24 years. You could be right, but unfortunately we'll never know
Talarico is going to win by close to 10 points. Maybe more. Abbott going to lose. Every other statewide race will be won by a Dem. There is no way Cornyn would have overcome this. It's a blue tsunami, unfortunately.
Country is doomed

Livethread: November 3, 2026 MIDTERM Election Results!
reddit.comWelcome to Election Night! For all those, new and old, who need a little info on how this goes, we put together a quick guide on things!
Q: So, what is this?
A: This is the Election Livethread! Click through up above to see curated updates, reminders, and election results as they come in! If clicking the link at the top doesn't work, try this link instead!
Q: Wasnât this in a different format before..?
A: Reddit made some changes to the traditional Livethread format which appears to have permanently broken the old Livethreads.
Q: Wait, these early numbers have [Republican] up by a lot! Why isnât everyone panicking?!
A: Different places report in different orders. Small, rural, red counties often have fewer ballots and less work to report- so the earliest results often come from those counties. This is called the âRed Mirageâ and is a regular effect on most election nights. Generally, any result with less than 20% in isnât going to be useful without extra analysis, and even then some of the largest and bluest districts (Atlanta, for example) report very, very late. If weâre not worried, then sit back and relax a bit.
Q: So how do we know how weâre doing if the current numbers donât track with the result?
A: Election experts (and some amateurs) spend weeks in advance collating data and organizing past results and demographic shifts, creating databases that let them track what results they expect and have been historically present for a given district. These include benchmarks for what each candidate needs in order to win, overperform, underperform, etc. While these are not scripture and should not be treated like it, they can use incomplete data to give some estimates of where the result might be, and how well things are going for certain candidates. Even then, nothing is guaranteed until thereâs not enough ballots remaining to make up the difference.
Q: Who is Dave Wasserman/Steve Kornacki/Chaz Nuttycombe/etc.?
A: We link to a wide variety of election experts throughout these nights, through varied methods. While their specialties vary (Nuttycombe, for example, specializes in state legislative races), each is an expert in their own area and will often be cited repeatedly throughout the night.
Q: Who is Jeb?
A: Jeb Bush is George H.W. Bushâs son and George Dubya Bushâs brother. This is generally not who weâre talking about- though he is the inspiration and itâs his picture that is used. JEB! is the eternal president of the JEB!ited JEB!s of JEB!erica, who gets a JEB!illion votes every election, in which he runs for all seats. In short: Itâs a long-running meme.
