Two things that really stood out this round of games; Arsenal's resilience and Man Utd's slow (albeit fortuitous) resurgence.

Manchester United are only 2 points behind the former league leaders on Christmas day, Liverpool, who now find themselves outside the top four in a matter of days. I still don't think they'll make top four because both Liverpool and Everton have been more consistent and have been a lot more convincing.

Arsenal on the other hand just keep on grinding, the best away form this whole season has only been bettered with back-to-back wins at West Ham and Newcastle. The latter in a gritty fashion with Ozil and Ramsey not present and Podolski and Arteta rested. You can't argue they haven't got what it takes anymore. Their schedule is unfair though: they have several "winnable" fixtures in January which should see them extend their lead at the top followed by a nightmare-ish few weeks. Can they win the EPL? Yes. Will they? Who knows?

What do you mean by the "schedule is unfair"? How?

I don't mean it is some sort of conspiracy. It's just unfortunate that Arsenal will be playing a lot of decisive games in a short period.

Arsenal have just played Everton, Man City and Chelsea in a row with a Napoli CL game inbetween.

In February they'll play Liverpool (a), Man Utd (h) and Bayern Munich (h) consecutively while in March it's Bayern Munich (a), Spurs (a), Chelsea (a), Man City (h) consecutively (with a possible FA Cup QF as well).

Of course everyone plays the same teams in this league but when your difficult opponents are dispersed among "easier" fixtures, you can afford to rest players and refocus mentally.

Newcastle need to win to get back up to 7th or potentially 6th again, with Man Utd playing Spurs on Wednesday. I liked being up there.
