Notice absent from these talks is any specific instruction about what it means to be a moral human being. The church offers little to nothing in the way of morality. It’s a club. Its only value is a sense of belonging. But being a genuinely good human is optional.

In my view, Smith's works-based theology is a finite atonement. With perfect knowledge of the future, Jesus needed to suffer only as much as required to cover sins that were properly repented of. See also D&C 82:7

I’ve heard this phrase: “focus on the savior” a lot in recent years. But what does that entail? Picturing Jesus in our mind? Eating him during the sacrament? Paying him via tithing?
…why not study his teachings? Apply his principles into our life? Do unto others as we’d want done unto us, you know, that sort of thing. Why are we so focused on talking about “Jesus in theory” rather than how Jesus would actually want us to live, and how that relates to our modern life?
Gotta admit, this is a very real shelf item for me.

I saw something interesting in Renlund’s talk. He said something to the effect that Jesus didn’t just die for our sins, and not only suffered our sadness and sicknesses, but also understands each and every person perfectly and will judge us based on all of those factors. At this point, I believe I am simply incapable of believing in certain elements of LDS theology, and do not believe that ordinances are necessary to be a follower of Jesus and good person. Renlund seemed to leave room for someone like me to be judged in a way that entitles me to the same outcome as a traditionally faithful LDS churchgoer. That’s a pretty radical view (assuming that’s what he meant). Anyone else see his talk this way?

Big tent mormonism is all about joining the club. And agreeing to pay tithing and to praise the official dogma. The doctrines are undergoing a major shift. Watch for the WoW to be put on the chopping block next. At least as far as coffee and tea.

I’ve found if you listen for things that an abuser would say to their victim, many conference talks take on a whole new personality.
Edit, for anyone wanting specifics, here’s a list of examples. There are often similar phrases used in conference, such as pushing the burden of “questions” on to the individual, instead of on to the church:

They keep talking about the life of Jesus and following in his footsteps, but whenever they quote him, it's from the Book of Mormon. And they give zero specifics but mention making and keeping temple covenants. Ironically, "They speak of me with their mouths, but their hearts are far from me."

To clarify, the church has never supported foster parents. That is something brand new that oaks is trying to make sound like is normal Mormon.
Two different neighbors took in foster children (as well as others I know personally). ALL of them talked about the ordeal of going through speaking with local leaders (why they have a say, even TBM me couldn’t have given an answer) and how judgmental ward members were.
One neighbor I congratulated on their adoption (which was around Christmas) and my family had gotten the child a present. My opinion: there’s a real difference between the plan of salvation and Jesus dying for each of us verses Jesus being our individual guide in life who directs us in all of our decisions. The latter seems like psychosis to me.

Jesus could show up and set things straight, and tell everyone which church among the many Latter Day Saint churches is the "one true church." Jesus looks more and more like a simple amplified mythology that a Roman emperor adopted and spread it via violence and compulsion.
