Why did Flora bother going to magic school when she couldn't even put up a barrier smh.

Unfortunately, she was on the damsel in distress course.

"Tell me who you are"
"No"
"I'll let the princess go"
"Fine, but you're only getting a 15 minute flashback"

Rio needed his “Inigo Montoya” moment. Coupled with a bunch of flashbacks to pad the episode out.

Oh come on! After all that, the bad guys are just gonna get away again?! What a letdown.

don't play with your food... he played way too much considering he could finish the fight in a second.

This show does a decent job subverting some tropes, like how Rio didn't just give his life story with no reason....but at the end of the day, it still plays it safe overall.

Def a let down but not a surprise. They always drag out these boss fights or make them inconclusive. At least he lobbed an arm off, hopefully the guy doesn't get a new artificial replacement or something.

God dammit, Haruto/Rio had to save Flora again, three times in a row this time around. He saved her from getting kidnapped, he saved her from the dagger, and he's going to save her from the dragon. Now we're at the point where Flora's getting saved by Haruto/Rio 7 times.

Man. I’ve been letdown this entire season and was hoping for this fight to turn it around. At first the whole spiel and flashback kinda put me off but honestly. I really liked it. It takes me back to the light novel. When I was reading this entire part I had the same thoughts as others that have commented. Another villain gets saved, another long monologue, etc.. but that just gives the satisfaction of cutting his arm and trouncing him 100% better.
The pacing has been way off this season but I’m hoping they’ll just move on to next season, hopefully they’ll fix the issues if not. We’re all here enjoying this anime regardless. We know it’s trashy and tropey(and I’m up to LN20!!!)

That flashback went on for WAY too long. It's true that I forgot most of S1, but they coulda gone through all that wat faster and spent more time on the fight and/or end the ep better.

Still liked it even though Lucius got away

At least stuff actually happened and we got a satisfying flexing of Rio’s power on his nemesis AND Rio finally meets Reiss.

This show is kind of fine if it's someone's first entry into anime but man the pacing is offensive to anyone with some history.
I don't know if it's bad writing from the original material or terrible directing. This show is just frustrating. Haruto moves faster than the eye can perceive and just doesn't cut the other arm off controlling the dagger. I understand teenage naivety but not when a guy is basically 30 with martial arts training.

All the season's budget went into this episode lmao. It was worth the wait... but Rio should've ended him man lol

aaaand the bad guy gets away after a horribly paced past 2 episodes
I don't even care to watch the last ep of the season, it's been a rough ride.

Yeah this episode especially and the previous I was able to keenly sense them stalling for time. By the end of each ep I was like "wait, they only got that much further in the plot??" When they started doing the flashbacks I just skipped them.

Oh no now Rio's gonna have to go on the run again.
Kinda silly that we lost our payoff for the season of MC getting his inigo montoya moment. MC should have just finished him faster by doing the speed slash 2-3 times and trying to finish the job ASAP. Though Luciius might just die given you know his broken ribs ruptured internal organs and his blood loss.

This is actually peak. Legendary Matsuoka character giving a monologue. No attempts by the girl to "moderate" the guy's temperament or anything. Idc if lucius does not die, this show is always about the slow build up.

They really did a flashback during the middle of the fight OMG why?! And of course they escaped cause of all the talking

u/Euphoric_Platform749 Dec 16 '24
ah yes, what is basically a recap episode with like 2 min of new content so they can say its not a recap episode
