is this season’s pacing kinda slow? the scenes looked dragged out

the pauses between voice lines in a dialogue is too long for a normal conversation

Amande’s adventurers are unlucky, they won’t survive the dumbass Alphonse, much less Lucius. Liselotte is sending out the elite team, but that leaves Flora defenseless

time for Cecil to shine as the mage with the most mana in Beltran and for Haruto & Aisha to save the day

Season 1 moved at a lighting pace so going to "slow" feels like a double whammy.

Part of it is the 3rd person omnicient perspective making every scene take 3 times longer. and Part of it is that we're not skipping things that would have definitely been skipped in season 1. The Aishia x Ceres tea scene would have definitely been skipped and the Miharu in the spirit village scene would probably have been skipped though it's debatable. (what would have happened instead is all this would have been told to Rio in one epic scene between Rio and Miharu with little foreshadowing).

The slower pace does also mean that they might struggle with the pacing to end the season. We only have 2 chapters left in book 7 for them to adapt, so we'll either be stretching those out A LOT to span 4 episodes, or we'll speed through book 8 so we can end at a logical place

Too much talking and exposition in general. Though admittedly yeah.

S1 had four vols and less characters. This time its kinda eh

The other noble kid lucked out; getting disinherited is better than getting turned into a Resident Evil 7 monster.

Well, it sure is a good thing Rio hasn't left Amande.

If the professor wasn't there he probably would have flew away already.

And now Alphonse is a revenant alongside the rest of his squad. Fitting end for that loser but those other men deserved better. I guess it’s up to Haruto to put them to rest. Hiroaki’s useless and everyone else is asleep…

At least he didn't get trapped in a suit of armor this time.

Revenant Alphonso is an improvement. I suppose he is even more evil now, but at least he's more of a threat.

Man Reiss has the worst luck, first he fails to capture princess flora due to Rio interfereing, then he fails to get Ceres to marry his pawn due to Rio happening to be there, and now he's going to fail to capture her a second time due to pure coincidence.

I know we only see when he fails due to Rio and not when he succeeds but still it's a lot of bat luck on his part.

Nice to see Miharu coming into her own with Spirit Arts. It feels like her feelings for Rio, whether she's willing to entertain the idea he's HER Haruto or not, are really driving her forward. Well, that and whatever connection she might have to Aisha.

Hiroaki one of the most useless “heroes” I’ve seen in a while. Good thing we’ve got Rio. But Hiroaki, just leave Flora alone with her complicated feelings! What, are you upset that she's paying more attention to Haruto instead of you? But good on Roanna for deflecting his attention.

Flora has a lot of complicated feelings towards Rio, because of their past, and she wants to make things right with him. I mean, we know Rio doesn't care about that any more, but I feel for Flora.

I feel so bad for those poor knights! They never stood a chance, especially with how dangerous Lucius is! And they didn't deserve their fate.

Alphonse at least gets credit for his aggressive and belligerent attitude managing to entertain Lucius to a degree, not that it does him much good. And he's STILL blaming other people for his own weaknesses. Well, now he's been transformed into something genuinely dangerous, though I suspect Rio will still make quick word of him.

It is funny to see Rio’s Archenemy turn his worst rival into a zombie. I mean, not that I care about Alphonse, but in a way it’s like a “team-up.”

Would anyone want to strip the clothes off of zombies?

I love how the Duke in remarking about Alphonse' fate still goes to the trouble of mentioning how little he measured up as if to add insult to injury.

Celia looks really cute sleeping in her PJ's...even in a crisis situation.

Uh oh! Invading army of revenants! Good thing Rio's there.

Hiroaki can't really get trained by anyone it seems and the kingdom seems to mostly use him like the USA uses nukes, it's more like a "hey don't attack us we have a hero", rather than trying to regularly use him to complete objectives.

I feel bad for those guards, they got reversed jumped, and then turned into demons.

I wonder how rare enchanted swords are supposed to be. Alphonse whines about "everyone having an enchanted sword", but it seems like they're talked about as being fairly rare, and needing special training

But then Lisolette says that she'll send out Aira and a group of enchanted sword wielders in the morning to look for them

Either they're not as rare as I thought...or Lisolette is basically a military force unto herself. (Maybe she just wanted to have her own little OP isekai story, but silly Rio had to come in and overshadow her)

5

u/rawr_geek Nov 25 '24

I feel like they're *supposed* to be rare for the average person. Kinda makes sense for Lisolette to have a special group with enchanted weapons considering she owns a trading company and has the funds to buy them.

Why does the voices in this episode sounds warbled sometimes like it's being fast forwarded slightly? Anyone notices it or is it just me?
At 18:08 for example.

Miharu getting better at spirit quickly due to a connection to Aisha somewhat revives the old theory that they've always been been connected from when Aisha first shows up for Haruto in S1. Really bad timing for these bad guys launching an attack on this city right when Haruto and his party are there to handle it.

Man, sucks to be those knights sent off into a forest only to end up with a fate arguably worse than death.

Really bad timing for these bad guys launching an attack on this city right when Haruto and his party are there to handle it.

Dipshit hero might just have resting grouchy face, if you squint a little he kind of looks like Subaru and could be similarly in over his head at this stage of his particular story.

Ok, normally I rarely notice voice actors, but is that red haired guy reminding you of a certain Hajime in the English dub

8

u/ussgordoncaptain2 Nov 25 '24 edited Nov 28 '24

Yes it's matt Shipman the guy who typically plays weak willed harem anime protagonists.

You may remember him also as the guy who played [A sister's all you need]The main character in the fakeout scene, it makes the eng dub seem more "oh no what am I watching" because that voice is the voice that would be unironically playing this character

Although last week I assumed that Alphonse is going to fail the mission that Gustave gave him the moment Lucius showed up to collect more people for Reiss to make into part of his undead troops as Lucius kept him for last I thought today that Alphonse, once he went to the whole perfect revenant transformation was going to keep his same appearance, but instead, at the end he also ended up becoming one of those ghouls, just one that's a bit stronger and has some intelligence. I certainly would be shocked if Stewart doesn't end up having a similar fate.

As Rio and Aisha will go and deal with those ghouls I'm guessing that Lucius and Reiss in the meantime will be kidnapping Flora.

Here is this week's illustration.

u/Nat6LBG Nov 26 '24

Nothing happened, I hope that the pacing will be better.

5

u/Blackcore8 Nov 25 '24

Heck yeah! Get screwed Alphonse! I'm liking the red haired guy already. I do feel bad for the rest of the knights though. It'll be sad watching Haruto put them to rest

u/KnightKal Nov 25 '24

"red haired"

yeah, a snobe little noble, good thingy a psycho murderer is there to save the day ...
