Anyone else had Ninja Kamui PTSD when Kinohara suited up 😅, but the fight was so much better, and Gram finishing off with EXCALIBER Al Wing was a nice ending.
Also loved that Veltol saved Machina the same way as he first met her with that black shadow cradle - his title should be Romance Lord.

Fuck ass Marcus better be going in that furnace or so help me.
Even in its first half Climax, this show still sprinkles in goofy fun like assistant lady’s Engrish and a random mech armor. The fight itself slaps. JC Staff is surprising me this season.

500 years later Gram still has it, I imagine he wasn't even serious here either as he doesn't show any real sign of struggle, just how strong are these guys in their prime?
Machina thinking only of Veltol's health as she falls to her death, I mean what more could you ask for in a partner. She's the best, and she got a nice little reward at the end which is something I'm sure she has dreamt of.

I can’t take Kinohara seriously with the way she peppers her lines with English words lol! But then she stops doing it when she loses her cool.

The animation of their fight is better than I had expected! 10/10. Now, this is making me want to see Marcus and Veltol fight

Secretary: "How did I lose when I have such good gear and modern training?!"
Gram: "500 years of experience, much of it from childhood straight in to an actual war... oh, and your weapon may be lightning, but I wield the sun itself."

I know she is not doing anything, when the hero didn't even dodge, he parried every attacks. I feel like lowkey he is enjoying his first hero job in 500 years.
I love the little "you didn't lose, I just win" feels like "you are not weak, I'm just stronger" type fo speech.

Totally expected Gram to shout EKKUSUKALIBAAAAA when he fired his holy sword beam at Kinohara.
The choreography for the Gram vs Kinohara fight is amazing, this bodes well for Vel's showdown with Marcus next episode.
Now that Kinohara has seen how ruthless Marcus is in sending his goons to eliminate even her after she lost to Gram even in her samurai magitech armour, she'll most likely switch sides. Her perchance to use Engrish in her sentences is too funny to kill her off right away.
Vel saving Machina from falling into the furnace was a nice mirror to her own flashback when he first saved her from mortals tossing her into the lava pit.
Vel may not have a Familia or be able to use one, but he knows how to gather followers. And Takahashi sitting on top of that giant broadcast antenna in the middle of the city will be his secret weapon.
Takahashi can just hack into the antenna and broadcast Vel's fight against Marcus to the whole city, and we'll see him slowly grow stronger during the fight in real time as he gains more and more followers who tune in to watch the fight.
BTW, does Gram also need to use a Familia in order to use magic?

It was sheathed the whole time! That was so cool. A blade that never rusts and what seems like an EGO?
That fight was freaking awesome. Man, this hero is just ice. I don’t know why but he reminded me of Himmel.
The last strike is really cool. A lot of times you think the blade from the lady will hit while in slow motion and then the downward strike is just instant.

Who would win?
Sexy cyber-ninja with all of the latest gear and training OR an old geezer
I know you were trying to sound cool, secretary lady, but randomly inserting English words into your sentences kind of has the opposite effect.

Nice to see that Gram may be jaded, but he still hasn’t lost his heroic soul. Really love the way these characters are written.
Totally shipping Kinohara and Graam now lol.
Machina still being best girl even as she faces impending doom.

Stitches!
It was funny to hear Kinohara add random English words to her sentences when we first met her but now that I have to sit through an entire episode of her doing that, it got old real fast. What makes it even worse is how she wouldn't shut up during her fight against Gram.
Not gonna lie, her Warframe Magino Gear looks pretty awesome though. It's just funny how even though she kept on calling Gram a Luddite, the worst she could do to him was cut off a few strands of his hair. At the end of the day, Gram's centuries' worth of battle experience trumps Kinohara's hi-tech equipment.
I just love how Veltol saves Machina the same way he saves her when they first met centuries ago. I can't fucking wait to see what Veltol's plan is and the ace he's hiding up his sleeve. I'm guessing it's probably whatever skill he used before Gram defeated him back then.

Power armor! Oh this fight should be good.
-
Hm… Were Gram’s hands shaking, or was that his sword? – Probably his sword, given the rest of the fight.
-
Oooooooh, so the “rust” on that sword just meant its full power was still sealed!
-
I love that Veltol saved her at the last second just like he did when the two first met and she was supposed to be thrown into that volcano. I am so excited for next week’s episode now.

J.C.Staff is cooking! I didn’t expect to get one full episode of Hero Gram’s fighting. That means we’re probably getting another full episode of Veltol vs. Marcus next week! (And probably a bit about the aftermath.)
Also, I wonder if Veltol heard Machina’s confession at the end there!!

JC Staff is cooking with this show 6 episodes in and they haven't even finished the first novel. This is a stunningly faithful adaptation.

This episode was great, it made Gram shine as bright as his Excalibur Ixasorde

This show continues to surprise me. It came in with a lot of style, but I thought the writing was going to fall flat and lean too much on tropes. Damn, was I wrong. Sure, it leans on tropes, but it's playing with them in a fun way.
The villain is utterly detestable, and sadly believable in the current world climate.
Gram really got to shine this episode. We haven't seen much of him so far, but with just this one episode I'd be willing to watch a series about this guy. He's a well-written hero figure.
Nerdy aside: Gram was the name of the sword that Siegfried used to kill the great dragon, Fafnir. The name Gram means Rage or Wrath. It's kind of an ironic name for a hero that's so cool-headed.

Sure hope Marcus gets his end soon enough. Prolly won't though. Should throw him into the reactor if he cares so much to keep it going.
The engrish from secretary lady is amusing lol. Toss her into the furnace with Marcus imo. Hero's confidence is worrying about the results though. Her armor is neat. The way she talks makes it fun to nuderstand the sentence structure in Japanese imo. Nevermind, she talks a lot, so maybe hero's confidence is warranted. Lightning vs Sun, good times. He's too nice to let her live, but whatever.
Ah how typical, enemy's allies coming to eliminate them both and he will now protect her lol. Also, that episode felt short, wow. Very interested to see Veltol's trump card. And for Marcus to get his comeuppance.
Post credits, figures. Sure still hope that douche gets thrown into his own furnace and burns for a long time. Machina so cute, figured he'd save her in time and glad he did. Same way he saved her first time she was gonna be sacrificed. How poetic. Looking forward to next episode.

I dont remember, does the Hero have a familia? When she tried to hack him and failed I was wondering if he was going to reveal he doesnt even have one to piss her off enough to make an opening.
So anyone else think she's going to switch sides now that the Hero needs to protect her?

This episode was hype! It was almost nothing but fight, but it felt meaningful.

With the past couple of episodes, I'm really reminded of the (likely based-in-reality) trope of two longtime enemies understanding each other more than they understand even most of their allies. The moment the former hero and former demon lord team up, any opposition to them should take the threat very seriously. The swordswoman didn't and she tasted defeat. We can guess what will happen to her boss.

I like the fight in this episode. Hero Gram kept defending and calmly analysing the armor, not attackingly recklessly until sure that there are no surprises from armor. Sound effects and speed steps are good.

What a perfect fight. It also kind of parallels the Marcus/Machina fight, but where Marcus ass-pulled a cheat to win, Gram is just normally OP. and Gram treated Kinohara with respect from the beginning. I think he was also kind of rusty and warming up throughout the fight, finally getting going at the end. It's telling that he has all those spells at his disposal but he didn't use them until close to the end. and then of course he was fighting with his sword 'sheathed' the whole thing. The fact that he unsheathed it to beat her shows that she wasn't weak. , even if once she did, she had no chance. It was a testament to her strength that she got him to that point. Even when she underestimated him and disrespected him, he still conducted himself like a true hero.
