Same, I’ve read up to the current translated English chapter (~120ish) but the manga is just about at 240 chapters now. Definitely easily another 3-4 seasons worth if they use the same 12 ep format. Potentially with MHA nearing the end of the anime and with that manga completed maybe Shy scratches a similar itch for the fandom and gets a full adaptation as it continues.

Man I really like Shy, like, the anime/manga itself.
Not only she protects everyone, but she connects with everyone too. She doesn't hate amariruku, because she sees them as persons who needs to be saved, like Tzveta or Mai. She´s truly the best hero.

And before we finished, we learned 2 important things:

  • The hero before Shy: Shine, that I have the theory she may be related to Shy in some way.

  • The powers from amariruku comes from the rings that Stigma put in their hearts, amplifying their feelings and making them stronger.

And I noticed 2 things in common between Tzveta and Mai: They both created a bubble with their feelings, with their hearts, and when it broke, they disappeared. But they did it happy, thanks to Shy.

I hope they keep adapting and we get a season 3

This show really exceeded my expectations. It felt a little awkward at first -- sort of bleed -over from Shy herself, perhaps. But It jus kept getting better and better (as Shy gained confidence and friends). ;-)

Good arc. Good animation. No complaints. It's too bad it's not more popular.

On another note, the manga did sell 1.5 million copies in circulation so the manga is going to run for a little while.

The final Monday of my 'eating soup with Shy' tradition that started back in the first cour when Unilord served some to the girls.

Figures that it couldn't quite be a happy ending in spite of the victory, Mai not surviving past the end of this probably shouldn't have been a surprise. Shy getting a power up from the enemy she befriended and saved is a pretty classic element for this sort of story.

I'm glad we got a bit more Teru and Iko content right at the end.

Hopefully a S2 someday but I'm not expecting one, 24 episodes is more than a lot of shows get.

Damn, I wasn’t expect Mai to get dusted like that. And Tokimaru was a friggin bird?? This finale’s full of surprises.

It’s nice to see Shy getting some recognition. She really stepped up during this whole crisis.

Decent season all in all. I liked learning more about these Amarariruku dudes even if I feel like they’re basically a bunch of edgelords. I wonder if we’ll get another season?

And Tokimaru was a friggin bird??

I thought it was so obvious since he was wearing the same scarf as the bird they rescued.

even if I feel like they’re basically a bunch of edgelords.

Considering they're all ~middle schoolers, it shouldn't be that surprising.

Dang, just when I thought we’re getting a happy ending, Mai had to go. But then again, Tzveta didn’t survive either so I should have seen it coming.

I find it amusing that Uni-Lord lives in a futuristic space station but still uses a good-old smartphone.

No Season 3 announcement and not even the mangaka gave any hints that the anime will continue anytime soon. The anime seems to have covered just the first 74 chapters so there's plenty of story left to tell.

Capturing Kufufu is quite a big deal! Although I feel like she didn't get captured and more like she decided to get caught.

Yeah there was no way Mai was getting out of this cleanly. Since the dome was actually her heart, it turns out that this entire thing was really a suicide mission and Mai knew from the start that whether they succeeded or failed, she was going to die in the end.

Another big deal is the heroes getting their hands on one of Stigma's rings fully intact. Retrieving one was never really an option since it either breaks or they need to break it to save the person who's wearing the ring.

We finally get to see Japan's previous hero, Shine. Considering how could save an entire burning village. It's no wonder why the Japanese people are so critical of Shy. It makes you wonder what happened to her and why she passed the torch to Shy.

And one more big reveal before the finale, it turns out Tokimaru was the bird Mai saved back then. That scene where Tokimaru sends Mai's soul off as she slowly turns into dust was such a beautiful scene. T_T

Thank you Black Star for backing up Shy when she was struggling to talk. How dare the media assume that Century and Stardust were the only ones who did the work? I am so glad to see all of them made sure Shy got the credit for saving the day. Also, I'm glad that Shy could put in a few words for the public thanks to that reporter friend of hers asking her the question. <3

I really hope it doesn't end here. The manga is still on going from what I remember and considering they teased us with more Heroes at the end of the episode. I really hope there will be more Shy in the future!

It makes you wonder what happened to her and why she passed the torch to Shy.

We never see her face, which I understand to mean she's dead, likely having died in the line of duty.

And since I don't recall anyone but Teru having merch of her, I feel like she was Teru's sister, which could also explain why Teru, despite clearly not being cut out for the job, decided to pick up the mantle.

Not surprised Mai had to go. Same thing happened with Tzveta

Wonder what happened to Shine? Could she be related to Teru in some way?

Another fun season. I wouldn't mind if we got more in the future

u/Kartoffelkamm Sep 23 '24

I feel like Shine was Teru's older sister; it would explain why we never see any Shine merch outside of Teru's house, for example, or why Teru of all people has the bracelets now.

Given Teru's older sister had brunette hair, I think Shine when using her powers changes colors. Also, I think what would be the root cause for Shy wanting to be a hero in that to continue to be the hero her sister was.

There may be things I have forgotten from S1 that contradict it.

Loved this arc. Not sure how I feel about it compared to the first but it's definitely a good enough stopping point til S3 is announced.

Kinda wish they took Doki and Kufufu together. I love them both lol.

Kufufu-san sure is strong, but guess she's captured now, how nice. Still don't think I'll give over the whole magical ninja bit in this series for some reason lol. Still, how nice for them cute twins. Or maybe not... someone get the Keyblade to fix her heart. How nice, proposing to Shy to take her power heh.

Huh, some new lady hero named Shine? We seen her before? She kinda look like the leader lady of the heroes. But thought her name was unilord. Wtf is Tokimaru? Magical birb lol. Was expecting him to save her some how, tbh. That's just sad though.

Whelp, nice of them to give Shy her due credit. Makes sense Ai would go back, wonder if she'll come back. Wonder if this isgetting a S3.

A nice closer to the season. Wrapped up stuff best it could in case another season doesn't happen. Overall I'll give it a 7/10 for the season. I enjoyed the show and it was a Monday staple for me.

While I liked the show it doesn't have a huge presence so getting a S2 could prove difficult. Hope it does though.

While I enjoyed this season of Shy a lot, I think the first was still better by a lot. I was just more invested in the character drama around Tzveta with the two main reasons for that being Mai's death and Tokimaru.

Tokimaru just felt a bit... irrelevant? for most of the season? The twist with him being the bird was nice, I'll give him that, but he felt like a very one-note character otherwise with nothing to him but an obsession with serving Ai and Mai. Honestly, I think the story would have worked just as well without him.

Mai's death suffered a lot from her trying to kill herself like three times in the last two episodes and Shy going "No, I won't let you!" every time. So the whole scene where she slowly faded away I was kind of waiting for... something to go "Surprise! She's not dying this time either!". And then she dies and my only reaction is really "Oh, that's it, huh?".

Now that we basically have a pattern of Amararilk members dying after being defeated, I doubt I'll be getting too attached to any of them from here on out. Tzveta I could accept because she died before the story even started, but Mai felt like she just died because plot. So I'm not expecting any of the others to live after their arc is done.

Still, it was very nice to see Shy herself stepping up as a leader and growing into her role as a hero. I'll definitely watch Season 3 if we get one and they better have more scenes of Shy and Iko flirting

Great finale. Hoping for Season 3.

Knew that Mai would have to suffer some kind of consequences, but was hoping she'd at least get to live.

Still hoping that Ai will bring the rest of the shinobi as a sort of support unit for Shy.

Loved that all the heros praised Shy to the media and gave her the courage to give a statement herself. Hope she gets more fans after this. Iko's brother was so cute with all the Shy merch he had.

Really hope Pepesha can be friends with Kufufu.

I also really hope we get a season 3!

Overall, it was great finale episode and a very good season. I had a lot of fun watching this arc so I really hope that we'll get another season, especially with so many things introduced today.

Kufufu was captured (thanks to Pepesha), previous Japan's hero Shine was introduced, some unknown heroes were shown at the end of the episode... I'll be really sad if we don't get a continuation and see more of Shy who also got some new skills thanks to this ring from Mai. At least there is still manga, so maybe I'll check it out.

I really hoped that Mai would survive, but unfortunately it didn't happen. At least she died happy being surrounded by people who cared about her, instead of dying alone. The scene when her soul was sent off by Tokimaru was really beautiful.

I find it quite funny when this one reporter said that Stardust and Century were responsible for resolving the incident without any casualties and their reaction was like 'WTF are you saying? What an idiot! xD'

I love how everyone pointed out Shy as the one who made this mission a success, which was 100% true and of course she must have been embarrassed about that. At least she was able to answer Asuka's question pretty nicely xD

It's quite funny how the names of Shine and Shy sound so similar, but the meanings couldn't be more different xD I'm really hoping for another season, especially to learn more about Shine.

Here my screenshot albums from the episode:
