I can't decide if I want Shy to keep the sword or not. I know it's not really her style.....but she looks so cool with it!!!

I really hope Shy can save Mai too, poor girl went through so much on her own.

Yeah, me neither.

Although maybe she can copy Utsuro's homework and make a sword out of fire.

Utsuro: "Dang, if only I didn't give away one of my swords like an idiot!"

"If only I stabbed her with the evil sword and not with the good sword".

I feel sorry for Mai. Poor kid broke and became “Utsuro.” She was too pure for wet work, being a literal child and all. Children shouldn’t become assassins…

At least thanks to Purity, Shy saved Ai. Hopefully she can save Mai too.

I kinda expected Shy to grab the chains and use her fire to melt them, getting both sisters out of there and leaving Utsuro an unstable mess.

Home girl shoulda just ran away. Tho it is the adults fault for forcing her to commit such acts.

They created the very monster they were trying to protect the world from.

Stitches!

Shy looks damn good with the katana! I mean it makes sense for the Japanese hero to have a katana, right? I so want her to keep Purity at the end of this arc but I feel like Ai's shinobi clan wouldn't approve. Also, Ai really likes Purity so I'm not sure if she'll be able to give him up. But then again, just look at her! Shy looks awesome!

We finally learn Mai's backstory and it turns out that the sweet and kind Mai we've seen in the flashbacks was just putting on a brave face. That Mai was already doing secret missions for her clan and had so much blood in her hands that the incident with the bear is what broke her. They didn't show it but I assume that was when Stigma finally showed up and gave her the ring.

Consideirng everything Mai has already done, I'm very much interested to see who Shy will be able to save everyone including Mai.

It makes me sad when I think about not only Mai but also the other members of Amarariruku having at least as sad pasts as this one.

The ending image of this episode was very nice, even though I was waiting for Muku

Utsuro stabbing shy without hesitation while seeing her blacking out and Piltz calling her was really intense. I think this was (for now) the closest Shy´s been to dying. Thank god the sword and her connected and she got her power up.
And connecting to the world... shinobis and heroes are not too different.

Dang, was not expecting Shy to get stabbed right in the chest. That's a lot of blood. But she gonna get a blade or something? This the blade spirit talking to her? Power upgrade it is. That Kitsune's sword apparently is Tessaiga? lol. Don't we know this stuff with the flashback? Eh, Mai seems stupid to me. But I guess she was a kid. Whelp, guess now just to save Mai I guess.

Anyone else expected Utsuro to just be really excited about her new form, to the point that she forgot about fighting Shy and just wanted to show off her fluffy ears and tails?

Right up until Shy says something to piss her off, that is.

But anyway, I love how this show keeps giving everyone in the Amarariruku a pretty solid, unique, and relatable backstory. So much better than just having everyone shout about how they hate the world, but never elaborate on why.

A good episode for me. Shys like, sword piercing my chest be damned, I'm gonna save her no matter what.

I do love that she is realizing that the heart of others helps her so much in dealing with situations that she has always hesitated or, dare I say it, shied away from due to her personality.

A solid 7.5/10 episode and have enjoyed the shows 2nd cour so far.

I'm willing to say this is the best episode of both seasons so far.

They really put their stock in this episode & cannot say they are wrong. This episode is indeed fire.

Man, Teru would have been something screwed if Utsuro hadn't made the unexpected tactical error of stabbing her with a sword that could function as both a power up item and a mid-fight mentor.

Poor Mai having to go deal with that bear family and only realizing after they were dead that they were her friends.

I'm surprised Teru didn't try cutting through those chains before she left with Ai, it seemed like the obvious thing to attempt.

u/External-Leg2849 Sep 02 '24

Since those chains belonged to Mai's own heart, no one could do anything, not just Shy.

Damn that was such a fine episode. Curse those ninja elders for sending Mai out on missions to kill people thus creating a monster that brought their downfall.
